A及びA’は同じか又は異なっており、RE(ここで、REはイットリウム、ランタン、セリウム、プラセオジム、ネオジム、プロメチウム、サマリウム、ユウロピウム、ガドリニウム、テルビウム、ジスプロシウム、ホルミウム、エルビウム、ツリウム、イッテルビウム、ルテチウムから選択される)、マグネシウム、カルシウム、ストロンチウム、バリウム、リチウム、ナトリウム、カリウム、インジウム、タリウム、スズ、鉛、アンチモン及びビスマスからなる群から選択され;
Bは、Ru、Ir、Os、Rh、Ti、Sn、Ge、Mn、Nb、Ta、Mo、W、Zr及びPbからなる群から選択され;

好ましくは、A及びA’の少なくとも一つはアルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属又はREである。より好ましくは、Aはアルカリ金属又はアルカリ土類金属であり、A’はアルカリ土類金属又はREである。更により好ましくは、Aはアルカリ金属であり、A’はアルカリ土類金属又はREである。
A及びA’が、ナトリウム、カリウム、カルシウム、ストロンチウム及びセリウムから選択されることが特に好適である。例えば、Aがナトリウム及びカリウム(最も好ましくはナトリウム)から選択され得、A’がカルシウム及びセリウムから選択され得る。
適切には、B’は、Ru、Ir、Os、Rh、Ca、Mg、RE、In、Tl、Sn、Pb、Sb、Bi及びGe;好ましくはRu、Ir、Ca、Mg、RE、In、Tl、Sn、Pb、Sb、Bi及びGeからなる群から選択される。幾つかの好ましい実施態様では、B’は存在しない。
AがNaであり;

- A及びA’が、ナトリウム、カリウム、カルシウム、ストロンチウム及びセリウムから選択される、請求項1から4の何れか一項に記載のエアーブリージングカソード。
- Bがルテニウム、イリジウム及びチタンから選択される、請求項1から5の何れか一項に記載のエアーブリージングカソード。
- AがNaであり;
A’がREであり;
BがTi、Sn、Ge、Ru、Mn、Ir、Os又はPbであり;
B’が存在しないか、あるいはTi、Sn、Ge、Ru、Mn、Ir、Os又はPbであり;
aが2であり;
bが2であり;
cが6から7である、請求項1に記載のエアーブリージングカソード。
- エアーブリージングカソードが多孔質導電性材料を更に含み、(i)金属酸化物が多孔質導電性材料に担持されていてもよく、又は(ii)金属酸化物が多孔質導電性材料と密に混合されていてもよい、請求項1から7の何れか一項に記載のエアーブリージングカソード。
- エアーブリージングカソードが酸素還元触媒を更に含む、請求項1から8の何れか一項に記載のエアーブリージングカソード。
- 酸素還元触媒が、高表面積担体材料に担持される、請求項9に記載のエアーブリージングカソード。
- エアーブリージングカソードが結合剤を更に含む、請求項1から10の何れか一項に記載のエアーブリージングカソード。
- 請求項1から11の何れか一項に記載のエアーブリージングカソードと、アノードと、エアーブリージングカソードとアノードとの間の電解質とを含む金属空気電池。
- アノードが活性アノード材料とアノード集電体を含み、活性アノード材料がリチウムを含む、請求項12に記載の金属空気電池。
- 電解質が非プロトン性である、請求項12又は13に記載の金属空気電池。
