Description
導光部材60は、外表面63aで反射する光の一部を吸収して減衰させる光吸収体65(光減衰手段)を有する。そのため、図10中の実線に示すように、符号L1〜L2、R1〜R2に示す範囲における輝度が大きく低下するようになる。図10中の一点鎖線は、光吸収体65を廃止して、内部63iを形成する樹脂に置き換えた場合の輝度変化特性線を示す。
視認部64のうち光路の末端に位置する部分を含む所定領域を末端領域Lと呼ぶ場合において、光吸収体65(光減衰手段)は、末端領域Lに対向する部分に設けられている。
導光部材60には、導光部材60の外表面を覆うカバー70が取り付けられている。そのため、導光部材60から漏れ出た光がカバー70で遮られるので、導光部材60の周囲が明るく見えてしまうことを抑制できる。
光吸収体65(光減衰手段)は、カバー70により視認者側から覆われている。これによれば、導光部材60から漏れ出た光を遮るためのカバー70を利用して光吸収体65を目隠しするので、光吸収体65専用のカバーを備える場合に比べて、簡素な構造で光吸収体65を目隠しできる。
カバー70は、光吸収体65(光減衰手段)と接触する接触部73pと、導光部材60との間にエアーギャップSを形成する非接触部73qと、を有する。ここで、カバー70を導光部材60に接触させると、その接触部分において、導光部材60の外表面で反射する光の一部が吸収される。そのため、輝度変化特性線において輝度低下が促される。一方、カバー70を導光部材60に接触させていなければ、このような輝度低下の作用は奏されない。
光吸収体65(光減衰手段)のうち光源側の端部65aは、湾曲した形状に形成されている。ここで、本実施形態に反して光吸収体65を矩形形状に形成すると、光吸収体65のうち光源側に位置する角部において、光の反射が部分的に強くなる。すると、上記角部を中心とした所定範囲が明るく見えるといったスポット光の現象が生じてしまう。これに対し本実施形態では、光吸収体65のうち光源側の端部65aは、湾曲した形状に形成されているので、上記スポット光の発生を抑制でき、スポット光による見栄え悪化を抑制できる。
本発明は上記実施形態の記載内容に限定されず、以下のように変更して実施してもよい。また、各実施形態の特徴的構成をそれぞれ任意に組み合わせるようにしてもよい。
Claims (6)
- 光源(21)と、
前記光源の光を内部(63i)に入射させ、入射した光を外表面(61b、63a、63b、63c、63d)で繰り返し反射させながら内部を伝わらせていく導光部材(60)と、を備え、
前記導光部材は、直線状であり、
前記内部を伝わる光の一部を視認者側に向けて反射して発光しているように視認させる視認部(64)と、
前記外表面で反射する光の一部を吸収して減衰させる光減衰手段としての光吸収体(65)と、を有し、
前記視認部は、前記導光部材の反視認側の面(63c)に設けられており、
前記光吸収体は、前記導光部材の下側の面(63a)に設けられ、且つ前記導光部材において光が前記内部を伝わる光路の末端部分のみに配置されていることを特徴とする車両用表示装置。 - 前記導光部材には、前記外表面を覆うカバー(70)が取り付けられていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の車両用表示装置。
- 前記光吸収体は、前記カバーにより視認者側から覆われていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の車両用表示装置。
- 前記カバーは、
前記光吸収体と接触する接触部(73p)と、
前記導光部材との間にエアーギャップ(S)を形成する非接触部(73q)と、
を有することを特徴とする請求項2または3に記載の車両用表示装置。 - 前記光吸収体のうち光源側の端部(65a)は、湾曲した形状に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の車両用表示装置。
- 液晶表示部(10A)と、前記液晶表示部の下方の位置に配置された警告表示部(10B)と、前記液晶表示部と前記警告表示部の間において、前記車両用表示装置の左右方向に配置されて光を発する直線状の加飾表示部(10C)と、をさらに備え、
前記加飾表示部は前記導光部材を包含しており、
前記導光部材は前記車両用表示装置の左右方向における中心位置において前記光源からの光を入射するように設定され、
前記導光部材の中心位置から入射した光は、前記車両用表示装置の左右方向に対応する方向に前記導光部材の内部を伝わり、前記光吸収体により前記左右方向端において減衰されることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1つに記載の車両用表示装置。
