Description
(1) 液晶表示パネルと該液晶表示パネルを照明するバックライトとを有し、該バックライトの平面形状の外形が、90°より大きい角度となる角部を少なくとも1つ有する液晶表示装置において、前記バックライトは前記角部を挟んで形成された、第1の辺と第2の辺と、前記バックライトの外形と略同じ形状を有する導光板とを有し、前記第1の辺に沿って複数の発光ダイオードを配列し、前記第2の辺に沿って複数の発光ダイオードを配列し、前記第1の辺と第2の辺とに沿って配列した各発光ダイオードの主な照射光が、該導光板を同一方向に伝搬するよう構成したことを特徴とする。
本発明は、図3に示すように、液晶表示パネルと該液晶表示パネルを照明するバックライトとを有し、該バックライトの平面形状の外形が、90°より大きい角度となる角部を少なくとも1つ有する液晶表示装置において、前記バックライトの外形と略同じ形状を有する導光板LGと該導光板の90°より大きい角度となる角部Aを構成する2つの辺(s1,s3)に沿って、複数の発光ダイオードを配列し、前記2つの辺に沿って配列した各発光ダイオードの主な照射光(L2〜L4及びL6,L7)が、該導光板LGを同一方向に伝搬するよう構成したことを特徴とする。
図6に示すように、液晶表示パネルと該液晶表示パネルを照明するバックライトとを有し、該バックライトの平面形状の外形が、90°より大きい角度となる角部を少なくとも1つ有する液晶表示装置において、前記バックライトの外形と略同じ形状を有する導光板LGと該導光板の90°より大きい角度となる角部Aを構成する2つの辺のうち一方の辺s1に沿って、複数の発光ダイオードLED1を配列し、前記一方の辺s1に対向しかつ平行となる辺s4に沿うと共に、前記2つの辺のうち他方の辺s2に対向する位置に、複数の発光ダイオードLED2を配列し、前記各辺に配列された発光ダイオードの主な照射光(L2〜L4及びL10とL11)が、該導光板を互いに逆方向に伝搬するよう構成したことを特徴とする。

Claims (6)
- 液晶表示パネルと該液晶表示パネルを照明するバックライトとを有し、該バックライトの平面形状の外形が、90°より大きい角度となる角部を少なくとも1つ有する液晶表示装置において、
前記バックライトは前記角部を挟んで形成された、第1の辺と第2の辺と、
前記バックライトの外形と略同じ形状を有する導光板とを有し、
前記第1の辺に沿って複数の発光ダイオードを配列し、
前記第2の辺に沿って複数の発光ダイオードを配列し、
前記第1の辺と第2の辺とに沿って配列した各発光ダイオードの主な照射光が、該導光板を同一方向に伝搬するよう構成したことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、前記第1の辺と第2の辺とに沿って配列した発光ダイオードは、各発光ダイオードの光を放射する方向が全て同一方向となるように配列されており、前記第1の辺と第2の辺のうち一方の辺に沿った前記導光板の外形は直線状であり、他方の辺に沿った前記導光板の外形は階段状となっていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、前記第1の辺と第2の辺とに沿って配置した発光ダイオードは、各発光ダイオードの光を放射する方向が前記第1の辺と第2の辺とのそれぞれに垂直となるように配列されており、該導光板の前記第1の辺と第2の辺のうち一方の辺に沿って、該導光板と該発光ダイオードとの間に該発光ダイオードの放射光の方向を変更する偏向手段を配置したことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1から請求項3の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置において、前記バックライトの平面形状の外形が有する90°より大きい角度となる前記角部は、100°以上150°以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1から請求項4の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置において、前記導光板が有する90°より大きい角度となる角部は、100°以上150°以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1から請求項5の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置において、前記液晶表示パネルは、90°より大きい角度となる角部を少なくとも1つ有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
