Description
感光体支持基板10は、不透明であっても実質的に透明であってもよく、必要な機械的性質を有する任意の適した有機もしくは無機材料を含んでもよい。基板全体は、導電性表面中の材料と同じ材料を含むことができ、または、導電性表面は単に基板の上の塗膜であってもよい。任意の適した導電性材料、例えば、金属または金属合金などを用いてもよい。それは、単一の金属化合物でも、または異なる金属および/または酸化物からなる二重層でもあり得る。
導電性接地面12は、例えば、真空蒸着法などの任意の適したコーティング技法により基板10の上に形成され得る、導電性金属層であってもよい。導電層の厚さは、電子光導電性部材に望まれる光透過性および柔軟性に応じて実質的に広い範囲にわたって変動してもよい。従って、可撓性の光応答性画像形成装置には、導電層の厚さは、少なくとも約20オングストローム、または約750オングストローム以下、あるいは導電率、柔軟性および光透過率の最適な組合せには、少なくとも約50オングストローム、または約200オングストローム以下であってもよい。
導電性接地面層の付与後、下引層もしくは正孔ブロッキング層14をその上に塗布してもよい。正に帯電した感光体について電子ブロッキング層は正孔を感光体の画像形成表面から導電層に向かって移動させる。負に帯電した感光体については、導電層から反対側の光導電層への正孔の注入を防ぐための障壁を形成することのできる任意の適した正孔ブロッキング層を利用してもよい。
ドラム感光体において、電荷輸送層は、同じ組成物からなる単一の層を含む。そのようなものとして、電荷輸送層を単一の層20に関して具体的に考察するが、二重電荷輸送層を有する実施形態にその詳細を適用することもできる。その後電荷輸送層20は電荷発生層18の上に付与され、電荷輸送層20には、電荷発生された正孔または電子の電荷発生層18からの注入を後押しすることができ、かつ、これらの正孔/電子の輸送を電荷輸送層によって画像形成部材表面の表面電荷を選択的に放電させる、任意の適した透過性の有機ポリマーまたは非ポリマー材料が含まれてもよい。一実施形態では、電荷輸送層20は正孔を輸送する役割を果たすだけでなく、電荷発生層18を磨耗または化学薬品による攻撃から保護する役割を果たし、それ故に画像形成部材の耐用年数を延ばすことができる。電荷輸送層20は、実質的に非光導電性の材料であってもよいが、電荷発生された正孔の電荷発生層18からの注入を後押しする層とする。
有機感光体に用いられる従来のオーバーコート層と比較して、光衝撃に対して改良された抵抗性を示し、かつ優れた電気性能も示すオーバーコート層32を提供するために、本実施形態は光吸収材料36をドープしたオーバーコート層32を用いる。本実施形態において、オーバーコート層配合物は、キノン、ルブレン、黄色染料、赤色染料、およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される特定の光吸収材料36を含む。これらの実施形態は、内在する光衝撃、特に400〜500nmの光により引き起こされる光衝撃に対する抵抗性の増加を示す。一般に、光吸収材料は、約700nm以下の波長の光がオーバーコート層と相互作用することを実質的に防ぐ。光とオーバーコート層との間の相互作用の実質的な阻止は、ドーパントまたは光吸収材料が400〜500nmの範囲の光を強力に吸収し、それ故にそうでなければオーバーコート層と相互作用して光衝撃効果を引き起こす光の大部分を吸収するという事実に基づく。
比較例I
V0は、初期表面電位であり;

Sは、PIDC曲線の初期傾斜であり、かつ感受性の測定値であり;
E1/2は、表面電位が前記露光の開始時の電位の半分に減衰した時の感光体の光感受性であり;
V(3)は、露光量3エルグ/cm2の表面電位であり;
V(10)は、露光量10エルグ/cm2の表面電位であり;かつ
Vrは、光消去後の残留表面電位である。
Claims (1)
- 基板と、
前記基板上に配置された電荷発生層と、
前記電荷発生層上に配置された電荷輸送層と、
前記電荷輸送層上に配置されたオーバーコート層とを含む画像形成部材であって、
前記オーバーコート層が、400〜460nmの波長を有する光を吸収するジフェノキノンを含み、前記オーバーコート層が、ジフェノキノン、N,N’−ジフェニル−N,N’−ビス(3−ヒドロキシフェニル)−[1,1’−ビフェニル]−4,4’−ジアミン(DHTBD)、ヒドロキシル化シリコーン変性ポリアクリレート、メチル化ブチル化メラミン−ホルムアルデヒド、酸触媒及び1以上の表面添加剤を溶媒中に含むオーバーコート溶液から形成され、前記画像形成部材が、ジフェノキノンをオーバーコート層に含まない画像形成部材と比較して光衝撃の低下を示す、画像形成部材。
