Description
特許文献4では、スチレン−アクリルポリマーを填料処理剤として使用し、凝結剤としてポリアミン等を併用して不透明度を向上させる方法が開示されているが、凝結剤と歩留剤を組み合わせて使用するシステムについての記載はない。
特許文献5では、一段目としてカチオン性あるいは両性アクリルアミド系共重合体からなる歩留向上剤を添加、二段目として前記歩留向上剤より分子量の低い水溶性重合体を添加する抄紙方法が開示されており、歩留向上剤より分子量の低い水溶性重合体が、ポリアルキレンイミン及び/又はポリアルキレンイミン変性物共存下で、分散重合により得られたカチオン性あるいは両性水溶性重合体であると例示されているが、分散重合により得られたカチオン性あるいは両性水溶性重合体分散液中に含有するイオン性を有する粒径100μm以下の微粒子のカチオン性単量体の組成範囲についての記載はなく、実施例では100モル%しか示されていない。又、アニオントラッシュ封鎖、ピッチ成分の抑制及び不透明度向上に関しての記載はない。

一液目として添加する水溶性重合体分散液(試作−1)の合成例を示す。攪拌機および温度制御装置を備えた反応器に50質量%ポリエチレンイミン水溶液(重量平均分子量;50,000)50部をイオン交換水21.5部に溶解し、75質量%硫酸28.5部を冷却攪拌下添加し、pHを4.8〜5.5に調整した。攪拌機、窒素曝気管および温度制御装置を備えた反応器に前記操作により中和したポリエチレンイミン水溶液78.0gを仕込み、アクリアルアミド50%水溶液34.6g、アクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド80%水溶液39.3g、イオン交換水38.1gを仕込み混合した。窒素で置換しながら10質量%の2,2−アゾビス(N,N−ジメチレンイソブチルアミジン)ジハイドロクロライド水溶液を重合開始剤として対モノマーあたり重量で500ppm添加し、撹拌下36℃で18時間重合した。その結果、粒径10〜100μmの微粒子を含有する重合体分散液が得られた。水溶性重合体分散液中の微粒子の単量体組成は、DMQ/AAM=40/60モル%となる。水溶性重合体混合物の重量平均分子量は600万であった(静的光散乱法による分子量測定器、大塚電子製DLS−7000により測定)。これを試作−1とし、表1に示す。
二液目に添加するアクリルアミド系共重合体からなる歩留向上剤(歩留剤−A)の合成例を示す。攪拌機、還流冷却管、温度計および窒素導入管を備えた4つ口500mlセパラブルフラスコに脱イオン水117.7g、硫酸アンモニウム84.1g、カチオン性単量体として80質量%アクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウム塩化物(以下DMQ)17.7g及び80質量%アクリロイルオキシエチルジメチルベンジルアンモニウム塩化物(以下DMABC)6.2g、50質量%アクリルアミド(以下AAM)51.9g、分散剤としてアクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウム塩化物単独重合体(20質量%液、粘度6450mPa・s)22.5gをそれぞれ仕込んだ。その後、攪拌しながら窒素導入管より窒素を導入し溶存酸素の除去を行った。この間、恒温水槽により35±2℃に内部温度を調整した。窒素導入30分後、開始剤として2、2’−アゾビス〔2−(5−メチル−2−イミダゾリン−2−イル)プロパン〕二塩化水素化物の1質量%水溶液0.45g(対単量体100ppm)を添加し重合を開始させた。内部温度を35±2℃に保ち重合開始後6時間たったところで上記開始剤を0.45g追加し、さらに10時間反応させ終了した。この得られた分散液を歩留剤−Aとする。この時の単量体組成は、DMQ/DMABC/AAM=16/4/80(モル%)であり、分散液粘度は560mPa・s、重量平均分子量は1570万であった。これを表1に示す。
攪拌機、還流冷却管、温度計および窒素導入管を備えた4つ口500mlセパラブルフラスコに沸点190℃ないし230℃のイソパラフィン127.5gにソルビタンモノオレート7.5g及びポリオキシエチレンソルビタンモノステアレート5.0gを仕込み溶解させた。別に80質量%アクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウム塩化物(以下DMQと略記)101.3g、50質量%アクリルアミド(AAMと略記)237.9g、イソプロピルアルコール0.4g(対単量体0.2質量%)及び硫酸アンモニウム27.2g(対油中水型エマルジョン全量5質量%)を各々採取し添加した。油と水溶液を混合し、ホモジナイザーにて1000rpmで2分間攪拌乳化した。この時の単量体組成は、DMQ/AAM=20/80(モル%)である。
DMQ:アクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド
DMBZ:アクリロイルオキシエチルジメチルベンジルアンモニウムクロリド
AAC:アクリル酸
AAM:アクリルアミド
歩留剤−A、Bは、水溶性重合体の重量平均分子量を示す。
Claims (4)
- 抄紙前の製紙原料に、ポリアルキレンイミン及び/又はポリアルキレンイミン変性物共存下で、下記一般式(1)及び/又は(2)で表わされる単量体30〜60モル%、下記一般式(3)で表わされる単量体0〜50モル%、水溶性非イオン性単量体0〜70モル%からなる単量体(混合物)を攪拌下、分散重合し製造されたカチオン性あるいは両性から選択される一種以上のイオン性を有する粒径100μm以下の微粒子からなる水溶性重合体分散液の希釈液を製紙工程中のファンポンプの前後、スクリーン入口から選択される一つ以上に添加した後、重量平均分子量が1000万〜3000万であるカチオン性あるいは両性のアクリルアミド系共重合体からなる歩留向上剤を添加することを特徴とする抄紙方法。
R1は水素又はメチル基、R2、R4は炭素数1〜3のアルキル基あるいはアルコキシル基、R3は水素、炭素数1〜3のアルキル基あるいはアルコキシル基、炭素数7〜20のアルキル基あるいはアリール基であり、同種でも異種でも良い、Aは酸素又はNH、Bは炭素数2〜4のアルキレン基又はアルコキシレン基、X1は陰イオンをそれぞれ表わす。
R5は水素又はメチル基、R6、R7は炭素数1〜3のアルキル基、アルコキシ基あるいはベンジル基、X2は陰イオンをそれぞれ表わす。
R8は水素、メチル基又はカルボキシメチル基、QはSO3、C6H4SO3、CONHC(CH3)2CH2SO3、C6H4COOあるいはCOO、R9は水素又はCOOY2、Y1あるいはY2は水素又は陽イオンをそれぞれ表わす。 - 前記ポリアルキレンイミン及び/又はポリアルキレンイミン変性物が、前記カチオン性あるいは両性から選択される一種以上のイオン性を有する微粒子に対し、50〜300質量%共存することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の抄紙方法。
- 前記カチオン性あるいは両性から選択される一種以上のイオン性を有する粒径100μm以下の微粒子とポリアルキレンイミン及び/又はポリアルキレンイミン変性物とが共存する水溶性重合体混合物の重量平均分子量が200万〜1000万の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項1あるいは2の何れかに記載の抄紙方法。
- 前記製紙原料中に填料として炭酸カルシウムあるいはホワイトカーボンの一種以上を含有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の抄紙方法。
