Description
ここに示す幾つかの実施形態では、電子装置用の触覚装置について開示する。触覚装置は、ユーザ入力に応答して又は電子装置の出力としてフィードバックを与える。触覚装置は、直線的又は垂直の感覚フィードバックを与えるように構成されるが、触覚装置は、そのx、y又はz軸に沿って直線方向に(水平又は垂直方向に)移動しない。むしろ、触覚装置は、中心軸の周りで回転する。触覚装置の回転中にユーザがそれに接触すると、ユーザは、その動きが直線方向であること、即ち水平又は垂直のいずれかの方向に沿ったものであることを感じる。これは、動きが垂直又は水平であるとユーザに思われるに充分なほど、回転が実質的に高速であるか又は小さいからである。それ故、触覚装置は、垂直又は水平に変位している触覚装置と実質的に同じ感覚をユーザに与えるが、x、y又はz方向に著しい変位を要求しない。
触覚装置は、電子装置に含まれて装置のフィードバックを与える。図1Aは、触覚装置102を含む電子装置100の概略図である。電子装置100は、実質上、触覚フィードバックが望まれる任意の形式の装置、例えば、スマートホン(例えば、アップル社によるiPhone)、デジタル音楽プレーヤ(例えば、MP3プレーヤ)、デジタルカメラ、ビデオゲーム装置、ラップトップ又はタブレットコンピュータ、等である。触覚装置102は、電子装置100のエンクロージャー104に作動的に接続されたボタン、スイッチ又は他の入力/出力部材である。
触覚装置102は、メカニカルボタンが押圧されるか或いは水平又は垂直に移動されるかのように(ユーザにとって)感じる触覚フィードバックをユーザに与えるのでバーチャルボタンとして働く。触覚装置102は、垂直又は水平方向に実質的に移動せずに、特定の方向に変位しているように感じるので、バーチャルである。触覚装置102は、触知又は他の触覚フィードバックが望ましい実質的に任意の形式の電子装置に対するボタン又はスイッチとして使用される。例えば、触覚装置102は、コンピュータのキーボードのキー、ラップトップコンピュータのトラックパッド、他の入力/出力装置、電源ボタン、等として一体化される。

Claims (20)
- 電子装置のための触覚フィードバック装置において、
前記電子装置に作動的に接続され且つ中心軸の周りでの回転を許すように固定されたプラットホームと、
前記プラットホームに作動的に関連され且つ前記プラットホームを選択的に第1方向に回転するようにさせるよう構成された作動部材と、
前記プラットホームに作動的に関連され且つ前記プラットホームを選択的に第1位置へ戻すように構成された回復部材と、
を備えた触覚フィードバック装置。 - 前記作動部材は、
選択的に磁化されるように構成された第1の磁気部材と、
前記プラットホームに作動的に接続され且つ前記第1の磁気部材と連絡する第2の磁気部材と、
を含む請求項1に記載の触覚フィードバック装置。 - 前記第1の磁気部材は、電磁石である、請求項2に記載の触覚フィードバック装置。
- 前記回復部材は、前記プラットホーム及び電子装置に作動的に接続されたスプリングである、請求項1に記載の触覚フィードバック装置。
- 前記回復部材は、前記プラットホームの周囲の一部分を実質的に取り巻くジェルである、請求項1に記載の触覚フィードバック装置。
- 前記作動部材は、前記プラットホーム及び前記電子装置に作動的に接続された電気活性高分子材料を含む、請求項1に記載の触覚フィードバック装置。
- 前記プラットホームは、ユーザがプラットホームにタッチするのに応答して第1方向に回転するように構成される、請求項1に記載の触覚フィードバック装置。
- 前記プラットホームに作動的に接続され、且つユーザがボタンを選択するときを決定するように構成されたセンサを更に備えた、請求項1に記載の触覚フィードバック装置。
- エンクロージャーと、
前記エンクロージャーに作動的に接続されたプロセッサと、
前記エンクロージャーに作動的に接続された触覚装置であって、前記エンクロージャーを通して前記触覚装置の少なくとも一部分にアクセスできるようにされた触覚装置と、
を備え、前記触覚装置は、
前記エンクロージャーに作動的に接続されたプラットホーム、
前記プロセッサと連絡し且つ前記プラットホームに作動的に関連した作動部材、及び
前記プラットホームに作動的に関連した回復部材、
を含み、前記作動部材は、前記プラットホームを中心軸の周りで回転するように構成される、電子装置。 - 前記プロセッサと連絡し、且つユーザがプラットホームを選択するときを決定するように構成されたセンサを更に備えた、請求項9に記載の電子装置。
- 前記センサは、プラットホームの頂面に作動的に接続される、請求項10に記載の電子装置。
- 前記作動部材は、
前記エンクロージャーに作動的に接続され且つ前記プロセッサと連絡する電磁石、及び 前記プラットホームに作動的に接続され且つ前記電磁石と連絡する磁気部材、
を含み、前記電磁石が第1状態にあるとき、前記プラットホームは、前記プラットホームは、第1方向に回転し、そして前記電磁石が第2状態にあるとき、前記プラットホームは、前記プラットホームは、第2方向に回転する、請求項9に記載の電子装置。 - 前記作動部材は、前記プラットホーム及びエンクロージャーに作動的に接続されて前記プロセッサと連絡する第1の電気的に活性のポリマーを含み、その第1の電気的に活性のポリマーが活性化されると、前記プラットホームが第1方向に回転する、請求項9に記載の電子装置。
- 前記プラットホーム及びエンクロージャーに作動的に接続された第2の電気的に活性のポリマーを更に含み、この第2の電気的に活性のポリマーが活性化されると、前記プラットホームが第1方向に回転する、請求項13に記載の電子装置。
- 前記回復部材は、前記プラットホーム及びエンクロージャーに作動的に接続されたスプリングである、請求項9に記載の電子装置。
- 前記回復部材は、前記エンクロージャーに作動的に接続され且つ前記プラットホームの一部分に作動的に関連したジェルである、請求項9に記載の電子装置。
- 触覚フィードバックを与える方法において、
センサを介して入力を検出する段階と、
前記入力に応答して電気活性高分子材料を起動することによって中心軸の周りで触覚フィードバック装置を回転する段階と、
選択時間及び回転経過の一方の後に前記触覚フィードバック装置を元の位置へ回復させる段階と、
を含む方法。 - 前記触覚フィードバック装置は、プラットホームを含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記触覚フィードバック装置を元の位置へ回復させる前記段階は、スプリングを使用して前記触覚フィードバック装置を前記元の位置へ回復させることを含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記触覚フィードバック装置を元の位置へ回復させる前記段階は、ジェルを使用して前記触覚フィードバック装置を前記元の位置へ回復させることを含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
