Claims (18)

複数のアンテナ要素(120、121)のうちの少なくとも1つにより複数のRFID装置(114、115、116)の各々から受信される1つ以上のRFID信号(154)と、複数のアンテナ要素(120、121)のうちの他のアンテナ要素(120、121)により複数のRFID装置(114、115、116)の各々から受信される1つ以上のRFID信号(154)との差に基づいて差信号を決定するよう動作可能な差回路(126)と、
コントローラ(130)であって、
複数のアンテナ要素(120、121)の制御回路(122、123)を用いて、複数のRFID装置(114、115、116)のうちのある特定のRFID装置(114、115、116)の方向にビームパターンを電子的に誘導し、
ビームパターンを誘導するために、和信号と差信号に基づいて、複数のRFID装置(114、115、116)のうちの前記特定のRFID装置(114、115、116)の方向を特定するためのコントローラ(130)と
を含む、携帯型無線周波数識別(RFID)読取り機(102)。 - 受信される1つ以上のRFID信号が、固有波長を有し、複数のアンテナ要素が、固有波長(156)の二分の一より短い中心間距離だけ離間されている、請求項1に記載の携帯型RFID読取り機(102)。

少なくともアンテナアレイの第1アンテナ要素およびアンテナアレイの第2アンテナ要素により、第1の複数の応答信号を受信すること(2504)であって、第1の複数の応答信号の各々は複数のRFID装置のうちの1つから受信されることと、
第1アンテナ要素により複数のRFID装置から受信された第1の複数の応答信号と第2アンテナ要素により複数のRFID装置から受信された第1の複数の応答信号との和に基づいて和信号を決定すること(2506)と、
第1アンテナ要素により複数のRFID装置から受信された第1の複数の応答信号と第2アンテナ要素により複数のRFID装置から受信された第1の複数の応答信号との差に基づいて差信号を決定すること(2508)と、
和信号および差信号に基づいて、携帯型RFID読取り機から複数のRFID装置のうちの対象となるRFID装置への方向を特定すること(2510)と、
携帯型RFID読取り機の指示器を起動すること(2512)であって、指示器が対象となるRFID装置への方向を示す、起動することと
を含む方法。 - 携帯型RFID読取り機から概ね対象となるRFID装置へ向かって少なくとも1つの第2RFID呼びかけ信号を電子的に誘導すること(2616)をさらに含む、請求項13に記載の方法。

- 少なくともアンテナアレイの第1アンテナ要素とアンテナアレイの第2アンテナ要素とにより第2の複数の応答信号を受信すること(2618)であって、第2の複数の応答信号の各々は第2の複数のRFID装置の1つから受信されることと、
第2の複数のRFID装置から受信された第2の複数の応答信号の和に基づいて第2和信号を決定すること(2620)と、
第2の複数のRFID装置から受信された第2の複数の応答信号の差に基づいて第2差信号を決定すること(2620)と、
第2和信号および第2差信号に基づいて携帯型RFID読取り機から対象となるRFID装置への改良した方向を特定すること(2622)と
をさらに含む請求項14に記載の方法。 - 受信される複数の応答信号は固有波長を有し、複数のアンテナ要素が、固有波長の二分の一より短い中心間距離だけ離間されている、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 対象となるRFID装置を識別するデータに基づいて、第1の複数の応答信号をフィルターにかけることをさらに含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
