本願は、2007年10月26日に出願された“FLEXIBLE CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE STRUCTURES AND METHODS OF FORMING THE SAME(可撓性セラミックマトリクス複合材料及びその形成方法)”という名称の米国特許第11/925,492号による優先権を主張している。
行うことなく焼結して所望の最終密度としてCMC構造108を形成しても良い。このようなプロセスはまた、多層構造106を焼結して所望の最終密度とする前に、積層された多層構造106の付加的な形成を任意的に含んでいても良い。

Claims (19)
- セラミックマトリックス複合材料によって形成された、板ばね、撓みばね、圧縮シール、皿ばねワッシャ、及び両面シールのうちの1つとして形成されるセラミックマトリックス複合構造体を形成する方法であり、
各々が強化繊維の周囲及び間にセラミックマトリックス材を含んでいる前記セラミックマトリックス複合材料からなる少なくとも2つの層を形成するステップと、
少なくとも1つの結合領域と、前記少なくとも2つの層間に少なくとも層間結合が弱い結合によって形成されている少なくとも1つの領域とを形成して、前記少なくとも2つの層を結合させるステップと、を含む方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも1つの結合領域と、前記少なくとも2つの結合される層間に少なくとも層間結合が弱い結合によって形成されている少なくとも1つの領域とを形成するステップが、
前記少なくとも2つの層間の選択された位置に結合抑止構造を付与することと、
前記少なくとも2つの層を焼結させて前記セラミックマトリックス複合材料を形成することと、を含んでいることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも1つの結合領域と、前記少なくとも2つの結合される層間に少なくとも層間結合が弱い結合によって形成されている少なくとも1つの領域とを形成するステップが、前記少なくとも2つの層間の選択された位置に結合抑止構造を付与するステップを含み、前記結合抑止構造が、有機材料、ポリマー材料、及び剥離剤のうちの少なくとも1つを含んでいることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項2に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも2つの層間の選択された位置に結合抑止構造を付与するステップが、前記少なくとも2つの層間にシリコンを基材とする材料を付与すること、前記少なくとも2つの層の少なくとも1つの面にテープを付与すること、前記少なくとも2つの層間にポリテトラフルオロエチレンを付与すること、のうちの少なくとも1つを含んでいることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項2に記載の方法であり、
少なくとも2つの層間の選択された位置に結合抑止構造を付与するステップが、
前記少なくとも2つの層間に挿入物を付与するステップと、
前記少なくとも2つの層間から前記挿入物を除去して、前記層間に隙間を形成するステップと、
前記少なくとも2つの層の間から前記挿入物を除去した後に、前記少なくとも2つの層を焼結させてセラミックマトリックス複合材料を形成するステップと、を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項2に記載の方法であり、
前記2つの層間の選択された位置に結合抑止構造を付与するステップが、
前記少なくとも2つの層のうちの少なくとも1つの層の少なくとも一部分を覆うように型板を配置するステップと、
前記型板内の少なくとも1つの開口部を介して前記少なくとも2つの層のうちの少なくとも1つの層の表面の選択された領域に結合抑止構造を適用するステップと、を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項2に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも2つの層を焼結させてセラミックマトリックス複合材料を形成するステップが、前記少なくとも2つの層の間から前記結合抑止構造を除去するステップを含んでいることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項2に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも2つの層を形成するステップが、該少なくとも2つの層を焼結させる前に、前記少なくとも2つの層の各々の層内のポリマー前駆体物質を硬化させるステップを含んでいることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも1つの結合領域と、前記少なくとも2つの結合される層間に少なくとも層間結合が弱い結合によって形成されている少なくとも1つの領域とを形成するステップが、
前記少なくとも2つの層を処理して、未処理状態、褐色状態及び完全に焼結された状態のうちの1つとするステップと、
前記少なくとも2つの層間の選択された位置に結合材料を付与するステップと、を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項9に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも2つの層を焼結させて最終的な密度にするステップを更に含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項9に記載の方法であり、
前記結合材料を付与するステップが、接着剤とろう付け材料とからなる群から選択された結合材料を付与することを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項11に記載の方法であり、
前記接着剤とろう付け材料とからなる群から選択された結合材料を付与するステップが、高温のセラミックを基材とする接着剤を付与することを含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項11に記載の方法であり、
前記接着剤とろう付け材料とからなる群から選択された結合材料を付与するステップが、ジルコニウム、ハフニウム及びHfB2からなる群から選択されたろう付け材料を付与することを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1、2又は12のうちのいずれか一項に記載の方法であり、
前記少なくとも2つの層を整形して、板ばね、撓みばね、圧縮シール、皿ばねワッシャ、及び両面シールのうちの1つを形成するステップを更に含んでいることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であり、
少なくとも2つの層を、複数のパネルのうちの少なくとも2つの横方向に隣接しているパネルの間に、前記少なくとも2つの層のシール部分が前記少なくとも2つの横方向に隣接しているパネルの間の隙間を覆うように配置され且つ前記少なくとも2つの横方向に隣接しているパネルが膨張又は収縮したときに前記シール部分の少なくとも一部が前記隙間に向かって動いたり当該隙間から出て行くように動いたりするのを許容するように位置決めされる、ように配置するステップを更に含み、前記シール部分は、前記少なくとも層間結合が弱い結合を含んでいる、ことを特徴とする方法。 - セラミックマトリックス複合材料によって形成された、板ばね、撓みばね、圧縮シール、皿ばねワッシャ、又は両面シールとして形成されたセラミックマトリックス複合構造体であり、
各々がセラミックマトリックス内に埋め込まれた繊維を含んでいるセラミックマトリックス複合材料からなる複数の相互に結合された隣接する層と、
該複数の層のうちの互いに隣接する少なくとも2つの層からなる少なくとも1つの結合領域と、
前記複数の層の少なくとも2つの隣接する層間に設けられた少なくとも層間結合が弱い少なくとも1つの領域と、を含んでいるセラミックマトリックス複合構造体。 - 請求項16に記載のセラミックマトリックス複合構造体であり、
該セラミックマトリックス複合構造体が、複数のパネルを含んでいる耐熱装置内において、シール部分が、複数のパネルのうちの少なくとも2つの横方向に隣接しているパネル間の隙間を覆って延びるように、配置されていることを特徴とするセラミックマトリックス複合構造体。 - 請求項16に記載のセラミックマトリックス複合構造体であり、
当該セラミックマトリックス複合構造体が、再突入宇宙船、高熱構造、制御面及びエンジンダクトのうちの少なくとも1つの一部分として配置されていることを特徴とするセラミックマトリックス複合構造体。 - 請求項16に記載のセラミックマトリックス複合構造体であり、
少なくとも層間結合が弱い少なくとも1つの領域が、前記複数の層のうちの少なくとも2つの隣接する層の間の隙間によって規定されていることを特徴とするセラミックマトリックス複合構造体。
