Description
この有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子において、前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子は、前記発光材料に含まれる有機官能基と同じ官能基を有することが好ましい。
この有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子において、前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子は、界面活性剤、水、及び疎水部含有添加物を含有する液相中でシリコンアルコキシドを塩基触媒を用いて加水分解させて界面活性剤複合シリカ粒子を生成する工程と、前記界面活性剤複合シリカ粒子に有機官能基含有シリコンアルコキシドを添加した合成反応液を還流して、前記界面活性剤複合シリカ粒子から界面活性剤及び疎水部含有添加物を抽出し、粒子表面に有機官能基を有するメソポーラスシリカ粒子を生成する工程と、
を含む製造方法により製造されたメソポーラスシリカ粒子であることが好ましい。
この有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子において、前記シリコンアルコキシドは有機官能基含有シリコンアルコキシドを含むことが好ましい。

多孔質粒子の屈折率=(多孔質粒子材料の屈折率)×(1−空隙率/100)+空隙率/100
作製した実施例1〜4のメソポーラスシリカ粒子を乾燥し、透過型電子顕微鏡観察(TEM)と窒素吸着測定とFT−IR測定を実施した。
JEM 2000EXII(JEOL社製)にて、実施例1のメソポーラスシリカ粒子について微細構造をTEM観察した。実施例1のTEM像を図3に示した。メソ孔が2次元ヘキサゴナル構造を形成している様子が確認された。実施例2〜4のメソポーラスシリカ粒子においても同様の結果であった。
Autosorb-3(Quantachrome社製)を使用し、等温吸着線を計測し、BJH解析法により細孔径分布を得た。実施例1〜4の粒子の細孔径のピークトップは約5nm、細孔容量は1.9cc/gであった。
FT/IR−670Plus(日本分光社製)測定装置を用いて実施例1〜3の赤外線吸収スペクトルを測定し、粒子表面の官能基を確認した。図4に、実施例1〜3で得られたメソポーラスシリカ粒子の赤外線吸収スペクトルを示す。それぞれのスペクトルには、特徴的な吸収を記載している。スペクトルに示すように、実施例1ではトリメチルシリル基(Si−(CH3)3)が確認され、実施例2では実施例1に比べCH2のピークの増大が確認されオクチル基の存在が示唆されると同時にトリメチルシリル基のピークがなくなり、(Si−(CH3)2)が見られ、オクチル基とメチル基が形成されていることが示唆された。実施例3では実施例1と比べてフェニル基が確認されるとともにトリメチルシリル基のピークがなくなり、(Si−(CH3)2)が見られ、フェニル基とメチル基が形成されていることが示唆された。これにより、分子中にシロキサン結合を含んだ有機ケイ素化合物によって、各種の有機官能基を表面に有するメソポーラスシリカ微粒子が形成されたことを確認した。
発光層43に多孔質粒子45を混合しなかった以外は実施例1と同様にして比較例1の有機EL素子を得た。この有機EL素子において、発光層43の波長550nmでの屈折率は、1.67であった。
発光層43に混合する多孔質粒子をSiO2粒子としたこと以外は実施例1と同様にして比較例2の有機EL素子を得た。この有機EL素子において、発光層43の波長550nmでの屈折率は、1.65であった。
上記のように作製した実施例1〜3及び比較例1、2の有機EL素子1について、評価試験を行った。本評価試験においては、各電極3、5間に電流密度10mA/cm2の電流を流し、積分球を用いて、大気へ放射される光を計測した。また、材質がガラスの半球レンズをガラスと同じ屈折率のマッチングオイルを介して有機EL素子1の発光面上に配置し、上記と同様に計測して、発光層43から基板2まで到達する光を計測した。そして、これらの計測結果に基づいて大気放射光の外部量子効率と基板到達光のそれとを算出した。大気放射光の外部量子効率は有機EL素子1への供給電流と大気放射光量とから算出され、基板到達光の外部量子効率は有機EL素子1への供給電流と基板到達光量とから算出される。

Claims (11)
- 基板、第1電極、発光層を含む有機層、及び第2電極をこの順に積層して成る有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子であって、
前記発光層が、前記発光材料にメソポーラスシリカ粒子が分散されて形成されていることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。 - 前記第2電極は光反射性の陰極であり、
前記発光層と前記第2電極との間に、ホールブロック層、電子輸送層又は電子注入層を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。 - 前記発光層の屈折率が1.6より低いことを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子の内部に孔径2nm以上の複数のメソ孔が等間隔に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子の表面に鎖式炭化水素構造を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子の表面にπ共役結合を有する有機官能基を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子の粒径が10〜100nmであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記発光材料が塗布型材料であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子は、前記発光材料に含まれる有機官能基と同じ官能基を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記メソポーラスシリカ粒子は、
界面活性剤、水、及び疎水部含有添加物を含有する液相中でシリコンアルコキシドを塩基触媒を用いて加水分解させて界面活性剤複合シリカ粒子を生成する工程と、
酸、アルコール、及び有機官能基を有するシロキサンを用いて前記界面活性剤複合シリカ粒子から界面活性剤及び疎水部含有添加物を抽出し、粒子表面に有機官能基を有するメソポーラスシリカ粒子を生成する工程と、
を含む製造方法により製造されたメソポーラスシリカ粒子であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。 - 前記シリコンアルコキシドは有機官能基含有シリコンアルコキシドを含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
