ポリ(3,4−エチレンジオキシチオフェン)/ポリ(スチレンスルホン酸)(PEDOT:PSS)(バイトロンPH)は、エイチ・シー・スターク社(H・C・Starch)から購入された。P3HT(4002E)はリエケ社(Rieke)から購入された。ポリマー1は、コナルカテクノロジーズ社(Konarka Technologies,Inc.)により、米国特許出願公報第2007−0014939号に記載の手順に従って調製された。C60−PCBMはソレンネBV社(SolenneBV)から購入
された。
P3HTおよびPEDOT:PSSは、実施例1に記載のものと同じ販売元から購入された。ポリマー2および3はそれぞれ、米国特許出願公報第2008−0087324号および第2010−0032018号に記載の手順に従ってコナルカテクノロジーズ社により調製された。C70−PCBMおよびビス−C60−PCBMはソレンネBV社から購入された。
光電池を次のように作製した。イソプロパノール内で超音波処理することにより、ITO被覆ガラス基板を洗浄した。その後、ITOの上に溶液をブレードコーティングすることにより、ポリエチレンイミンおよびグリセロールプロポキシレートトリグリシジルエーテルを含む薄い電子注入層を形成した。電子供与材料として1つまたは2つの半導体ポリマーと電子受容材料として置換フラーレンとを含むo−ジクロロベンゼン溶液を、正孔ブロック層にブレードコーティングし、その後、乾燥させて光活性層を形成した。PEDOT:PSSを含む溶液を光活性層の上にブレードコーティングして、正孔輸送層を形成した。その後、銀電極を正孔輸送層に熱蒸着して光電池を形成した。

第1のポリマーが、シラシクロペンタジチオフェン部位を含む第1のコモノマー繰り返し単位と、ベンゾチアジアゾール部位を含む第2のコモノマー繰り返し単位とを含み、第2のポリマーが、チオフェン部位を含むモノマー繰り返し単位を含み、
