Claims (9)
- 順次に第1原映像信号ないし第3原映像信号の提供を受けて順次に第1補正映像信号ないし第3補正映像信号を出力するタイミングコントローラと、
前記第1補正映像信号ないし第3補正映像信号の提供を受けて映像を表示する液晶パネルと、
を含み、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第1原映像信号を利用して第1階調に対応する第1変換映像信号を生成して保存し、
前記第2原映像信号は、第2階調を含み、前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第2階調が前記第1階調より小さいとき、前記第1変換映像信号と前記第2原映像信号とを利用して前記第2階調より大きい第3階調に対応する第2変換映像信号を生成し、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第2変換映像信号と前記第3原映像信号とを利用して前記第3補正映像信号を生成することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1階調は、基準階調より大きく、
前記第2階調は、基準階調より小さいことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第3原映像信号は、第4階調に対応し、
前記第2階調は、前記第4階調より小さいことを特徴地する請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第3原映像信号は、第4階調に対応し、
前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第2変換映像信号を利用して前記第3階調より小さい第5階調に対応する初期補償映像信号を生成し、前記初期補償映像信号と前記第3原映像信号とを利用して前記第3補正映像信号を生成することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第4階調が前記第3階調より小さいとき、前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第5階調に対応する初期補償映像信号を利用して前記第5階調より小さい第6階調に対応する再補償映像信号を生成し、前記再補償映像信号を利用して前記第3原映像信号を補正することにより前記第3補正映像信号を生成することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第4階調が前記第3階調より小さいとき、前記タイミングコントローラは、前記初期補償映像信号と前記第3原映像信号とを利用して初期補正映像信号を生成し、前記第2原映像信号を利用して前記初期補正映像信号を再補正することにより前記第3補正映像信号を生成することを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第4階調が基準階調より大きいとき、前記タイミングコントローラは、第1補償式を利用して前記初期補償映像信号を生成し、
前記第4階調が前記基準階調より小さいとき、前記タイミングコントローラは、前記第1補償式と異なる第2補償式を利用して前記初期補償映像信号を生成することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1補正映像信号ないし第3補正映像信号各々は、前記各補正映像信号より高い階調を有する第1サブ映像信号と、前記各補正映像信号より低い階調を有する第2サブ映像信号とを含むことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記タイミングコントローラは、
前記第1変換映像信号と、前記第2原映像信号との組み合わせに対応する階調値を含むルックアップテーブルを含み、
前記ルックアップテーブルを利用して前記第4階調に基づいて前記第2変換映像信号を生成することを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
