Description
無機繊維を含み、複数個の周縁部を有し、その複数個の周縁部が第1周縁部を含むマウント材料、及び
第1周縁部に沿ってマウント材料の内部に配置され、しかしながらマウント材料の大部分には接触しない、強化組成物の層;
ここで、乾燥重量ベースで、次の化学式で表わされる少なくとも1つの化合物
(Mm+)d((ZpOq(OH)r)n−)e・(H2O)f
は、その強化組成物の主要部分を構成するものであり、ここで
各Mm+はH+以外の独立した陽イオン種で正電荷m+を有し、かつ
(ZpOq(OH)r)n−は電荷n−を有する種を示し、ここでZはホウ素又はリンであり、更にここで:
fは0以上の実数;
d、n、q及びrは0以上の整数;
e、m及びpは1以上の整数;並びに
d×mはe×nに等しく;かつ
可撓性である耐腐食性マウント材料。

液体溶媒に溶解した強化組成物を含む乾燥可能な液体を、第1周縁部に沿ってその無機繊維に適用し、並びに
その乾燥可能な溶液をほぼ乾燥させて、第1周縁部に沿って、しかしながらマウント材料の大半には接触することなく、内部に配置した強化組成物を含む層を提供し、
ここで、乾燥重量ベースで、次の化学式で表わされる少なくとも1つの化合物
(Mm+)d((ZpOq(OH)r)n−)e・(H2O)f
は、その強化組成物の主要部分を構成するものであり、ここで

耐腐食性マウント材料は、可撓性である。
(Mm+)d((ZpOq(OH)r)n−)e・(H2O)f
これは、マウント材料の第1周縁部に対し、自動車排気系に見られるタイプの高温排気ガスに対する耐腐食性をもたらすことができる。一般に、上記の式で表わされる化合物は、ホウ酸及びリン酸以外は、塩(例えば、水溶性塩又は非水溶性塩)である。乾燥重量ベースで、前記の少なくとも1つの化合物には、この強化組成物の大半が含まれる。例えば、乾燥重量ベースで、前記の少なくとも1つの化合物は、前記の強化組成物の重量のうち50%以上、55%以上、60%以上、65%以上、70%以上、75%以上、80%以上、85%以上、90%以上、更には95%以上を含む。
可撓性試験:
試験を行う試料は、幅2.5cm(1インチ)×長さ18cm(7インチ)の大きさにし(通常は切断される)、存在する任意の強化組成物が18cm(7インチ)の辺に沿って位置するようにする(即ち処理済み縁部となる)。この試料の長さ方向を、直径6.4cm(2.5インチ)のスチール製マンドレルに巻き付け、その処理済み縁部(ある場合)がマンドレルの円周を包み込むようにする。試料が、半分に割れたり大きな畝になって壊れたりすることなく、マンドレルの円周形状に適合するならば、その試料は合格である。表面の軽度の割れは受容される。試料の厚みの大半にわたるようなひび割れが生じた試料は不合格と見なされる。
処理済み縁部の完全性を保持しつつ、試験を行う試料を2.54cm×2.54cm(1インチ×1インチ)の寸法の正方形に切断し、重量を測定し、望ましい取り付け密度になるよう、及び処理済み縁部が露出したままになるよう、金属製スペーサーを用いて2枚の金属プレート(ニッケル/クロム合金、ウェストバージニア州ハンティントンのインコ・アロイズ・インターナショナル社(Inco Alloys International)から商品名「インコネル(INCONEL)601」として入手可能)の間に水平に取り付ける。取り付け密度は、金属製スペーサーの間に均等に試料を圧縮して均一な厚さにすることにより達成される。試料の坪量を、次に、圧縮した試料の厚みで割ることにより、取り付け密度が算出される。結果として得られたアセンブリを800℃で2時間加熱し、次に室温まで冷ます。結合剤が燃え尽きた後の重量を記録する。

Claims (8)
- 無機繊維を含み、複数個の周縁部を有し、該複数個の周縁部が第1周縁部を含むマウント材料のマット、及び
該第1周縁部に沿ってマウント材料のマットの内部に配置され、しかしながらマウント材料全体をコーティングしない強化組成物の層
を含む、耐腐食性マットであって;
ここで、乾燥重量ベースで、次の化学式で表わされる少なくとも1つの化合物
(Mm+)d((ZpOq(OH)r)n−)e・(H2O)f
は、該強化組成物の50重量%以上を構成するものであり、ここで
各Mm+はH+以外の独立した陽イオン種で正電荷m+を有し、かつ
(ZpOq(OH)r)n−は電荷n−を有する種を示し、ここでZはホウ素であり、更にここで:
fは0以上の実数;
d、n、q及びrは0以上の整数;
e、m及びpは1以上の整数;並びに
d×mはe×nに等しく;かつ
可撓性である耐腐食性マット。 - ハウジングと、
該ハウジング内に配置される汚染防止装置エレメントと、
汚染防止エレメントとハウジングとの間に配置されている、請求項1に記載の前記耐腐食性マットを含む、汚染防止装置。 - 汚染防止装置の製造方法であって、
請求項1に記載の耐腐食性マットを、ハウジング(この中に汚染防止エレメントが配置されている)の中に配置することにより、該耐腐食性マットが、汚染防止エレメントとハウジングとの間に配置されることを含む、方法。 - 耐腐食性マットの製造方法であって、
無機繊維及び複数個の周縁部を有し、更にその複数個の周縁部が第1周縁部を含むマウント材料のマットを提供すること、並びに
液体溶媒に溶解した強化組成物を含む乾燥可能な液体を、第1周縁部に沿ってその無機繊維に適用し、並びに
該乾燥可能な溶液をほぼ乾燥させて、第1周縁部に沿って、しかしながらマウント材料全体をコーティングしないように、内部に配置した強化組成物を含む層を提供することを含む、方法であり、

無機繊維及び複数個の周縁部を有し、更にその複数個の周縁部が第1周縁部を含むマウント材料のマットを提供すること、並びに
液体溶媒に溶解した強化組成物を含む乾燥可能な液体を、第1周縁部に沿ってその無機繊維に適用し、並びに
該乾燥可能な溶液をほぼ乾燥させて、第1周縁部に沿って、しかしながらマウント材料全体をコーティングしない、内部に配置した強化組成物を含む層を提供することを含む、方法であり、
ここで、乾燥重量ベースで、リン酸又はポリリン酸の少なくとも1つはその強化組成物の50重量%以上を構成するものであり、
