Description
第1の実施形態によれば、外装部材、正極、負極、セパレータ及び非水電解液を含む非水電解質電池が提供される。正極、負極、セパレータ及び非水電解液は、外装部材内に収容される。
正極は、正極活物質を含有し、他に電子導電性を有する物質(以下、導電材と称す)や、結着剤を含むことができる。また、正極は、集電体を含むことができる。集電体は、正極活物質を含む正極材料層と接している。正極材料層は、例えば、正極活物質と導電材と結着剤とを混練した後、圧延によりシート化することにより得られる。あるいは、正極活物質と導電材と結着剤とをトルエン、N−メチルピロリドン(NMP)等の溶媒に溶解または懸濁させることによりスラリーを調製した後、スラリーを集電体上に塗布、乾燥してシート化することで集電体に正極材料層を形成することも可能である。
負極は、負極活物質を含有し、その他に導電材、結着剤を含むことができる。また、負極は、集電体を含むことができる。集電体は、負極活物質を含む負極材料層と接している。負極材料層は、ペレット状、薄板状もしくはシート状にすることができる。負極材料層は、例えば、負極活物質と導電材と結着剤とを混練した後、圧延することによりペレット化もしくはシート化することで得られる。あるいは、負極活物質と導電材と結着剤とを混練した後、これらを水、N−メチルピロリドン(NMP)等の溶媒に溶解または懸濁させることによりスラリーを調製した後、スラリーを集電体上に塗布し、乾燥してシート化することで集電体に負極材料層を形成することができる。
不織布セパレータには、非水電解液が含浸される。不織布の例には、セルロース不織布、ポリエチレンテレフタレート不織布、ポリオレフィン不織布を挙げることができる。正極接触面での耐酸化性を有することから、セルロース及びポリオレフィンのうち少なくとも一方から形成された不織布が望ましい。ただし、通常ガラスフィルターに分類されるガラス繊維からなる膜は、ガラス繊維径が大きく、膜厚を非常に大きくしないと短絡原因となるため、実験室でのテストには使用できるが、実際の電池では電池容量を著しく損なうため、使用できない。加えて、ガラスが電極表面に存在するとフッ素含有アニオンの分解を促進し、特性低下を引き起こす問題もある。
外装部材の例には、金属や樹脂製の缶、ラミネートフィルム製容器、プラスチック、セラミック等からなる角型容器等が含まれる。金属缶としては、アルミニウム、鉄、ステンレス等の角型の容器を用いることができる。ラミネートフィルム製外装部材は、例えば、アルミニウムや銅またはステンレスなどの金属層に樹脂層を合わせたラミネートフィルム材を熱融着により袋状にすることにより得られる。特に、ラミネートフィルム製外装部材は、セル内部でのガス発生を電池外観の変化として検出可能であるため、望ましい。
第2の実施形態に係る電池パックは、第1の実施形態の非水電解質二次電池(単電池)を1個または複数有する。複数の単電池を備える場合、各単電池は電気的に直列もしくは並列に接続されている。
正極活物質としてLiMn1.5Ni0.5O4粉末90重量%、アセチレンブラック2重量%、グラファイト5重量%、バインダーとしてポリフッ化ビニリデン5重量%をN−メチルピロリドンを溶媒としてスラリー化した。得られたスラリーを厚さ15μmのアルミニウム箔の両面に塗布し、乾燥した後、圧延した。その後、片面を剥ぎ取ってアルミニウム箔を露出させ、20mm角の正方形に切り出して、正極シート43を作成した。
非対称スルホン系化合物であるエチルイソプロピルスルホン(略称EIPS)と、融点が室温以上の44℃である対称スルホン系化合物であるジブチルスルホン(略称DBS)とを重量比でEIPS:DBS=1:1で混合した。この混合溶液は室温で液体であった。また、対称スルホン系化合物が非対称スルホン系化合物に対して室温の飽和溶解量以下であった。得られた混合溶液を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にして非水電解液を調製した。リチウム塩(LiBF4)、EIPS、DBSのモル比は1:3.8:2.7であった。得られた非水電解液を用いること以外は、実施例1と同様にして非水電解質電池を作成した。
セパレータとして、厚さ12μmのポリプロピレン多孔質膜を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様に非水電解質電池を作成した。
Claims (6)
- 式1で表される非対称スルホン系化合物と式2で表される対称スルホン系化合物とを含有する非水溶媒と、前記非水溶媒に溶解されたリチウム塩とを含む非水電解液と、
Li1-xMn1.5-yNi0.5-zMy+zO4(0≦x≦1、0≦y+z≦0.15、MはMg、Al、Ti、Fe、Co、Ni、Cu、Zn、Ga、Nb、Sn、Zr及びTaから選ばれる少なくとも1種の元素)で表される複合酸化物を含有する正極活物質を含む正極と、
Tiを含有するリチウム吸蔵放出可能な酸化物を含有する負極活物質を含む負極と、
前記正極と前記負極との間に配置され、不織布からなるセパレータと
を含むことを特徴とする非水電解質電池。
- 前記対称スルホン系化合物の融点が100℃以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記不織布が、セルロース及びポリオレフィンのうち少なくとも一方を含むことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記非水電解液中に前記対称スルホン系化合物が前記リチウム塩のモル数以上混合されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜3いずれか1項に記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記対称スルホン系化合物が室温で固体であり、かつ前記対称スルホン系化合物が前記非対称スルホン系化合物に対して室温の飽和溶解量以下混合されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜4いずれか1項に記載の非水電解質電池。
- 前記リチウム塩が、LiPF6及びLiBF4のうち少なくとも一方を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜5いずれか1項に記載の非水電解質電池。
