Claims (5)
- 排気ガス通路を通過する排気ガス中のSOX及びNOXを保持する保持部と、前記保持部の温度を検出する温度センサと、前記保持部におけるSOX保持量を推定する電子制御装置とを備え、
前記保持部は、アルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属および希土類のうち少なくとも一つの成分および貴金属触媒を含み、前記SOX保持量が増加するほどNOX保持可能量が減少する特性を有し、
前記電子制御装置は、前記保持部近傍の排気ガスの空燃比をリッチにした時の前記保持部の温度上昇値を検出し、前記温度上昇値に基づいて前記保持部に保持されたNOX保持量を推定し、前記SO X が保持されていない時の前記保持部のNO X 保持可能量から前記NO X 保持量を減算して前記SOX保持量を推定し、一定期間の間に前記排気ガス通路を通過したSOXの積算量又は前記積算量に基づく値を検出し、前記保持部に現在の前記NOX保持可能量のNOXが保持されていない時には、前記SOXの積算量又は前記積算量に基づく値を検出するための前記SOX保持量の推定を禁止することを特徴とする、硫黄成分検出装置。 - 前記電子制御装置は、前記保持部の温度が設定温度範囲外である時には、前記SOXの積算量又は前記積算量に基づく値を検出するための前記SOX保持量の推定を禁止する、請求項1に記載の硫黄成分検出装置。
- 前記設定温度範囲内には、前記保持部の現在のNOX保持可能量を最大にする前記保持部の温度が含まれる、請求項2に記載の硫黄成分検出装置。
- 前記電子制御装置は、前記保持部に保持されていた全てのNOX及びSOXを放出させた時には、設定間隔において前記保持部に保持されたNOX保持量をその全てを放出させて検出することを、前記設定間隔を徐々に長くして繰り返し実施し、検出された前記NOX保持量が最大となった時の値を、SOXが保持されていない時の前記保持部の現在のNOX保持可能量とする、請求項1に記載の硫黄成分検出装置。
- 前記保持部近傍に酸素を供給する酸素ポンプを備える、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の硫黄成分検出装置。
