Description
本発明の摩擦緩和添加剤は、アルキルトルエンスルホネート塩を含有している。これらの塩は、以下に記載する方法によりアルキルトルエン前駆体から製造することができる。
本発明のアルキルトルエン前駆体は本来、トルエンをオレフィンでアルキル化する従来のフリーデル・クラフツ反応により得ることができる。本発明のアルキルトルエン前駆体は、炭素原子約3〜約50個の長さであるアルキル鎖を含むことができる。別の本発明のアルキルトルエン前駆体は、炭素原子約10〜約40個の長さであるアルキル鎖を含むことができる。また別の本発明のアルキルトルエン前駆体は、炭素原子約18〜約30個の長さであるアルキル鎖を含むことができる。トルエン環は、アルキル鎖の1位を除いてアルキル鎖の任意の位置に結合させることができる。当該分野の熟練者であれば分かるように、アルキル鎖の「1位」は鎖の末端の炭素位置を意味する。一方、アルキル鎖は、トルエンのメチル基が結合している位置を除いて任意の炭素位置でトルエン環に結合させることができる。
本発明のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩は、下記一般式で表される。
本発明の機能液は一種以上の基油を含有していて、基油は主要量(すなわち、約50質量%より多い量)で存在する。一般に基油又は基油混合物は、機能液の全質量に基づき約60質量%より多い量、または約70質量%より多い量、または約80質量%より多い量で存在する。典型的な本発明の機能液は基油混合物を約88質量%含有している。
時には一定量の塩化物イオンの存在下で、本発明の摩擦緩和添加剤および機能液を使用する必要が起こりうる。例えば、アルキルトルエンスルホネート塩の製造方法の過程で、粘度を調整するために一種以上の塩化物含有化合物を添加することがあるから、その方法自体が、本発明の摩擦緩和添加剤が使用される環境に塩化物イオンを持ち込む可能性がある。よって、塩化物イオンの存在下で使用できる摩擦緩和添加剤の部類があることは、塩化物イオンを除去しないでそのような摩擦緩和添加剤を使用できるので、望ましい。
種々の調製済み機能液試料を製造した。それらの摩擦緩和能について、一連の湿式ブレーキ又は湿式クラッチが作動しうる条件をシミュレートするように設計された静始動摩擦台上試験にて測定した。試験を実施した装置はブレーキディスクを含むが、ブレーキディスクを、下記第3表に列挙する機能液試料1−10および比較機能液Aを含む開放油溜め内で潤滑した。装置は更に摩擦パッドを含むが、摩擦パッドをブレーキディスクおよびブレーキディスクを回転させるシャフトと接触させた。各試験の間中、ブレーキディスクをその原位置に保持しながら、摩擦パッドに一定レベルの圧力を掛け、そして電気モーターがシャフトを駆動させて回転させた。特定の圧力レベルで、シャフトが回転し始めた後0.25秒以内に到達した最大抵抗トルクの読みを記録した。各圧力レベルでこのような0.25秒サイクルを10回行った。10回の最大トルク読みから平均を出して10回平均最大トルクとした後、圧力レベルで割って静始動摩擦値に達した。

摩擦緩和添加剤、すなわちアルキルトルエン前駆体(AT)XIから作ったアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩、および機能液、すなわち機能液試料11の塩化物適合性を、比較機能液Bを用いて決定した。第5表に、これら試料の成分を列挙する。アルキルトルエン前駆体(AT)XIは、分枝レベル約20.7%、アルファオレフィン含量約11.7%であった。

Claims (31)
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩が、アルカリ金属塩およびアルカリ土類金属塩から選ばれる請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩がアルカリ土類金属塩である請求項2に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩がカルシウム塩である請求項3に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩が過塩基性塩である請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩が、二酸化炭素で過塩基化されている請求項5に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩の各々の全塩基価が、0乃至400である請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 各過塩基性塩の全塩基価が60乃至400である請求項5に記載の機能液組成物。
- 各過塩基性塩の全塩基価が250乃至380である請求項8に記載の機能液組成物。
- 各過塩基性塩の全塩基価が300乃至350である請求項9に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩が、異性化された線状オレフィンをトルエンと反応させることにより合成されたアルキルトルエン前駆体から誘導されたものである請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 単一の異性化された線状オレフィンがC 18 〜C 30 の線状アルファオレフィンである請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 異性化された線状オレフィンの混合物のオレフィンが、C 18 〜C 30 の線状アルファオレフィンから選ばれる請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 異性化された線状オレフィンの混合物のうちの0.5%乃至50%が、アルファオレフィンである請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 異性化された線状オレフィンの混合物のうちの1.5%乃至35%が、アルファオレフィンである請求項14に記載の機能液組成物。
- 異性化された線状オレフィンの混合物のうちの10%乃至60%が分枝している請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩を0.5質量%乃至3.5質量%含む請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩を1.5質量%乃至2.5質量%含む請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- さらに、次の成分から選ばれる一種以上の添加剤を含む請求項1に記載の機能液組成物:(1)酸化防止剤、(2)さび止め添加剤、(3)抗乳化剤、(4)アルキルトルエンスルホネート以外の摩擦調整添加剤、(5)粘度指数向上剤、(6)多機能添加剤、(7)分散剤、(8)耐摩耗・極圧剤、(9)流動点降下剤、(10)消泡剤、(11)清浄剤、および(12)シール調整剤。
- 塩化物イオンの存在下で摩擦調整能力が実質的に低下することがない請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
- 最大で10ppmの塩化物の存在下で摩擦調整能力が実質的に低下することがない請求項20に記載の機能液組成物。
- 最大で50ppmの塩化物の存在下で摩擦調整能力が実質的に低下することがない請求項21に記載の機能液組成物。
- 相対的に可動な部分及び継手部分を含む機械内で最適な摩擦特性をもたらし、かつそのような特性を維持する方法であって、下記の工程を含む方法:
(a)相対的に可動な部分及び継手部分のうちの少なくとも幾つかの表面を、請求項1に記載の機能液に浸す工程、そして
(b)上記の機械を機能液の存在下で作動させる工程。 - 機能液が、トラクタ液、トラクタ作動液、変速機液あるいは油圧作動液である請求項23に記載の方法。
- 機能液がトラクタ作動液である請求項24に記載の方法。
- 機能液が更に、次の成分から選ばれる一種以上の添加剤を含む請求項23に記載の方法:(1)酸化防止剤、(2)抗乳化剤、(3)さび止め添加剤、(4)アルキルトルエンスルホネートではない摩擦調整添加剤、(5)流動点降下剤、(6)粘度指数向上剤、(7)消泡剤、(8)多機能添加剤、(9)耐摩耗・極圧剤、(10)分散剤、(11)清浄剤、および(12)シール調整剤。
- 酸化防止剤、さび止め添加剤、アルキルトルエンスルホネート以外の摩擦調整添加剤、粘度指数向上剤、抗乳化剤、流動点降下剤、耐摩耗・極圧剤、多機能添加剤、消泡剤、清浄剤、シール調整剤および分散剤から選ばれる一種以上の添加剤を、機能液組成物に更にブレンドする請求項27に記載の方法。
- 0.5質量%乃至3.5質量%の一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩を、機能液組成物にブレンドする請求項27に記載の方法。
- 1.5質量%乃至2.5質量%の一種以上のアルキルトルエンスルホネート塩を、機能液組成物にブレンドする請求項27に記載の方法。
- トラクタ液、トラクタ作動液、変速機液あるいは油圧作動液である請求項1に記載の機能液組成物。
