本明細書で使用する場合、「三量体化」という用語は、オレフィンモノマーの接触三量体化を意味し、3つの前記オレフィンモノマーの反応から誘導された化合物中に濃縮され生成物組成を得ることを意味する。三量体化という用語には、供給流中全てのオレフィンモノマーが同一である場合ならびに供給流が2つまたはそれ以上の異なるオレフィンモノマーを含む場合を含む。

調製に使用した全ての化学薬品はAldrichから購入し、特に言及の無い限り、さらなる精製無しで使用した。
本発明の触媒系は、リガンドA、B、CおよびDの個別のまたは任意の組合せ、ならびにクロム供給源を含む触媒前躯体組成物から調製した。これらの組成物を以下に説明する。
三塩化クロムトリス(テトラヒドロフラン)錯体、すなわち、CrCl3(THF)3およびクロムトリス(2,4−ペンタンジオネート)、クロムトリス(アセチルアセトネート)とも呼ばれる、すなわち、Cr(acac)3が、エチレンの同時三量体化および四量体化におけるクロム供給源として使用される。
(2−メトキシフェニル)(フェニル)PN(CH3)P(2−メトキシフェニル)(フェニル)リガンドを、最初に80mlのテトラヒドロフラン(THF)中に、0.42gリチウム(60mmol)の懸濁液を形成し、これに(2−メトキシフェニル)2P(フェニル)9.66g(30mmol)を、アルゴン雰囲気下、0℃において加えることにより調製した。混合物を4時間撹拌し、この時間の後にメタノール5mlのアリコートを加えた。トルエン60mlを混合物に加え、その後溶液を、40mlの水で2回抽出した。抽出したトルエン溶液を、次いで約20mlの容積に濃縮し、これにより懸濁液が形成された。濃縮されたトルエン溶液をろ過し、C2Cl64.6gをトルエンのろ液に加え、次いでこれを90℃において2時間撹拌した。反応から発生したHC1ガスを、アルカリ浴中で「トラップ」した。次いで混合物を室温に冷却し、窒素で駆逐して、溶液中に存在する残存HClの全てを除去した。
CrCl3(THF)3と1:1のモル比の(2−メトキシフェニル)(フェニル)PN(CH3)P(2−メトキシフェニル)(フェニル)を、等モルのCrC13(THF)3とリガンド成分Aの混合物をトルエン中で50℃において1時間撹拌することで調製し、その後溶媒を真空下で蒸発させ、残留物をペンタンで洗浄した。
(2−メトキシフェニル)2PN(CH3)P(2−メトキシフェニル)2リガンドを、最初に20mlジエチルエーテル中、1.59g(5mmol)の(2−メトキシフェニル)2PNEt2溶液を形成することによって調製した。この溶液に、ジエチルエーテル中の1MHC1溶液10ml(10mmol HC1)を、不活性雰囲気下室温において加えた。この様にして形成された懸濁液を一夜撹拌した。真空下で、生成物からジエチルエーテルを除去し、無水トルエン20mlを加えた。得られた溶液をろ過し、トルエンをろ液から真空下で除去して、白色の固体(2−メトキシフェニル)2PCl生成物を得た。
CrCl3(THF)3と1:1のモル比の(2−メトキシフェニル)2PN(CH3)P(2−メトキシフェニル)2を、組成物A’と同様に調製した。
(フェニル)2PN(イソプロピル)P(フェニル)2リガンドを、以下のプロセスで調製した。0℃において、窒素雰囲気下、トリエチルアミン15mlを、乾燥ジクロロメタン80ml中の(フェニル)2PCl6.3gに加えた。得られた混合物に、イソプロピルアミン0.844gを加え、室温において一夜撹拌した。得られた溶液から溶媒を真空下で除去し、無水トルエン50mlを加えた。次いで混合物を小さなシリカの層上でろ過した。トルエンを真空下でろ液から除去し、(フェニル)2PN(イソプロピル)P(フェニル)2生成物を白色固体として分離した。エタノールからの再結晶により、(フェニル)2PN(イソプロピル)P(フェニル)2を白色結晶として得た。
(フェニル)2PN(イソプロピル)P(2−メトキシフェニル)2リガンドを、以下のプロセスで調製した。窒素雰囲気下、トリメチルアミン12mlを、無水トルエン10ml中のイソプロピルアミン3.39gに加えた。得られた混合物に、(フェニル)2PCl5.15mlをゆっくりと加え、室温において一夜撹拌した。沈殿物をろ過により除去した。溶媒を得られた溶液から真空下で除去した。蒸留残渣にペンタンを加えた。次いで溶媒を、ペンタン溶液から真空下で除去し、(フェニル)2PNH(イソプロピル)を無色のオイルとして得、これを室温において静置して結晶化した。
以下の実験に使用した共触媒は、メチル基の約25%がイソブチル基と置き換った修飾メチルアルミノキサン(MMAO);ヘプタン中のMMAO−3A([Al]=6.42重量%)、これはAKZONOBEL Chemicals B.V.、Amersfoort、オランダから市販されている;トルエン中のメチルアミノキサン(MAO)、[Al]=5.20重量%、Crompton GmbH、Bergkamen、ドイツから供給される、

バッチ式オートクレーブ中における同時三量体化および四量体化反応のための触媒系
Braun MB 200−G乾燥ボックス中で、リガンドAまたはB(すなわち、表1で表示された組成物A’またはB’)のCrCl31:1錯体および(存在する場合には)リガンド成分CまたはDの表1に表示される相対量をガラス瓶に入れた。トルエン中のMAO溶液3mmol(1.6g、MAO溶液)を、その後通常無水トルエン4gを加えることによって触媒前躯体組成物を触媒溶液へと転換し、最後に瓶をセプタムキャップで封じた。
同時三量体化および四量体化実験は、加熱/冷却浴によるジャケット冷却と、タービン/ガス撹拌機およびバッフルを備えた1.0リットルのスチール製オートクレーブ(例えばJulaboのモデルATS−2)中で行った。

- a)クロムの供給源;

c)一般式(II)を有する第2リガンド;

X’は、成分(b)の一般式(I)で表される第1リガンドのXに関して定義した通りの架橋基であり;

R3’およびR4’の、一方または両方は、オルト位の少なくとも1つにおいて極性置換基を有する、場合により置換された芳香族基から独立に選択され、または両方共これから選択されない。]
を含む、オレフィンモノマーの三量体化および四量体化のための触媒前駆体組成物。 - R5が、C1−C15アルキル基、置換C1−C15アルキル基、C2−C15アルケニル基、置換C2−C15アルケニル基、C3−C15シクロアルキル基、置換C3−C15シクロアルキル基、C5−C15芳香族基および置換C5−C15芳香族基、好ましくはC1−C15アルキル基から選択される、請求項1に記載の触媒前駆体組成物。
- R1からR4の少なくとも3つがo−アニシルである、請求項1から2のいずれか一項に記載の触媒前駆体組成物。
- クロムの供給源が、クロムトリス(2,4−ペンタンジオネート)、Cr(acac)3、三塩化クロム、CrCl3、および三塩化クロムトリス−テトラヒドロフラン錯体、CrCl3(THF)3から選択される、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の触媒前駆体組成物。
- 請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の触媒前駆体組成物を含み、成分(d)の共触媒を付加的に含む、オレフィンモノマーの三量体化および四量体化のための触媒系。
- 共触媒、成分(d)が、メチルアルミノキサンおよび修飾メチルアルミノキサンから選択される、請求項5に記載の触媒系。
- 少なくとも1つのオレフィンモノマーを、三量体化および四量体化反応条件の下で、請求項5または6のいずれか一項に記載の触媒系と接触させることを含む、オレフィンモノマーの三量体化および四量体化プロセス。
- オレフィンモノマーの三量体化および四量体化のための、請求項5または6のいずれか一項に記載の触媒系の使用。
