Description

図2〜図4に示されるような装置を使用して、トータル・ペトロケミカルズ(Total Petrochemicals)から入手可能な、メルトフローレートインデックス37を有するフィーナ(FINA)(商標)3868ポリプロピレンから、単成分単層ウェブを形成した。押出成形ヘッド10は16列のオリフィスを有し、1列のオリフィスは32個であり、オリフィスの合計は512個であった。オリフィスは、6.4mm(0.25インチ)間隔で、正方形パターンに配置した(即ち、オリフィスを、横断方向及び長手方向に整列させ、横断方向及び長手方向の両方で等しく間隔を空けた)。ポリマーを0.6g/穴/分で押出成形ヘッドに供給し、その際、ポリマーは250℃(482°F)まで加熱した。2つの急冷空気流(図2の18b;流れ18aは用いなかった)を、上側の流れとして、約1.5m/分(5ft/分)の面速度及び7.2℃(45°F)の温度で高さ305mm(12in)の急冷ボックスから、下側の流れとして、約1.5m/分(5ft/分)の面速度及び室温で高さ305mm(12in)の急冷ボックスから供給した。米国特許第6,607,624号B2(ベリガン(Berrigan)ら)に示されているような可動壁式減衰器を用い、0.76mm(0.030in)のエアナイフギャップ(ベリガンらにおける30)、エアナイフに供給される空気の圧力0.09MPa(13psig)、減衰器の頂部ギャップ幅5.3mm(0.21in)、減衰器の底部ギャップ幅4.6mm(0.18in)、及び減衰器側面(ベリガンらにおける 36)の長さ152mm(6in)を使用した。押出成形ヘッド10から減衰器16までの距離(図2の17)は91cm(36in)であり、減衰器16から捕集ベルト19までの距離(図2の21)は58cm(23in)であった。メルトスパン繊維流は、約64cm(約25in)幅で捕集ベルト19上に付着させた。捕集ベルト19は、20メッシュステンレス鋼から作成し、5.8m/分(19ft/分)の速度で移動させた。
以下に示す点を除いて、実施例1の一般方法を使用して、フィーナ(FINA)3868ポリプロピレンから単成分単層ウェブを形成した。押出成形ヘッド10は、ダイの中央にある16mm(0.63in)のギャップによって分離される、9列の2つのブロックに分割した、各36個×18列のオリフィスを有し、オリフィスの合計は648個であった。オリフィスは、6.4mm(0.25in)の間隔を空けて食い違いパターンで配置した。ポリマーを1.0g/穴/分で押出成形ヘッドに供給した。2つの急冷空気流(図2の18b;流れ18aは用いなかった)を、上側の流れとして、約0.42m/s(83ft/分)の面速度及び4.4℃(40°F)の温度で高さ406mm(16in)の急冷ボックスから、下側の流れとして、約0.14m/s(28ft/分)の面速度及び室温で高さ197mm(7.75in)の急冷ボックスから供給した。ベリガン(Berrigan)らに示されているような可動壁式減衰器を用い、1.27mm(0.050in)のエアナイフギャップ、エアナイフに供給される空気の圧力0.17MPa(24psig)、減衰器の頂部ギャップ幅4.8mm(0.19in)、及び減衰器の底部ギャップ幅4.7mm(0.185in)、を使用した。押出成形ヘッド10から減衰器16までの距離は78.7cm(31in)であり、減衰器16から捕集ベルト19までの距離は68.6cm(27in)であった。メルトスパン繊維流は、約51cm(約20in)の幅で捕集ベルト19上に付着させた。捕集ベルト19は、約15.8m/分(52ft/分)の速度で移動させた。
以下に示す点を除いて、実施例2の一般方法を使用して、トータル・ペトロケミカルズ(Total Petrochemicals)から入手可能な、メルトフローレートインデックス70を有するフィーナ(FINA)3860ポリプロピレンに、チバ・スペシャルティ・ケミカルズ(Chiba Specialty Chemicals)製のキマソーブ(CHIMASSORB)944ヒンダードアミン光安定剤を0.75重量%添加して、単成分単層ウェブを形成した。ポリマーを0.20g/穴/分で押出成形ヘッドに供給し、その際、ポリマーは235℃まで加熱した。上側の急冷空気流は7.2℃(45°F)の温度を有し、下側の急冷空気流は約0.16m/s(31ft/分)の面速度を有していた。ベリガン(Berrigan)らに示されているような可動壁式減衰器を用い、0.76mm(0.030in)のエアナイフギャップ、エアナイフに供給される空気の圧力0.08MPa(12psig)、及び減衰器の頂部ギャップ幅5.1mm(0.20in)を使用した。メルトスパン繊維流は、約53cm(約21in)の幅で捕集ベルト19上に付着させた。捕集ベルト19は、約1.8m/分(6ft/分)の速度で移動させた。捕集ベルト19の下の真空は、1.5kPa(6in.H2O)〜3.0kPa(12in.H2O)の範囲であると見積もった。
Claims (4)
- a)少なくとも100mgのガーレー剛性を有する凝集性のウェブを形成するように結合されたメルトスパンポリプロピレン繊維であって、配向及び繊維構造を保持しながら軟化されることができる、部分的に結晶質であり部分的に非晶質である配向されたメルトスパンポリプロピレン繊維、のウェブを形成するのに十分な熱条件下における、単成分ポリプロピレン繊維の溶融紡糸、捕集、加熱、及び急冷によって、連続単成分ポリプロピレン繊維の単成分単層不織布ウェブを形成する工程と、
b)前記不織布ウェブ内にひだの列を形成する工程と、
c)ひだ付け加工された前記ウェブを所望のサイズ及び形状に切断して、繊維交点の少なくともいくつかの地点で互いに結合された、1.52m/sの面速度において少なくとも15%の平均初期サブミクロン効率を有するポリプロピレン繊維の自己支持形多孔質単成分単層マトリックスを含む、ひだ付け加工フィルタ要素を形成する工程と、を含む、ひだ付け加工フィルタの作成プロセス。 - 前記繊維が自己結合される、請求項1に記載のひだ付け加工フィルタの作成プロセス。
- 少なくとも100mgのガーレー剛性を有する凝集性のウェブを形成するように繊維交点の少なくともいくつかの地点で互いに結合されたメルトスパンポリプロピレン繊維であって、部分的に結晶質であり部分的に非晶質である配向されたメルトスパンポリプロピレン繊維、の自己支持形多孔質単成分単層マトリックスを含み、前記マトリックスが、折り畳まれるか波形化されたひだの列に形成され、1.52m/sの面速度において少なくとも15%の平均初期サブミクロン効率を有する、ひだ付け加工フィルタ。
- 前記繊維が自己結合される、請求項3に記載のひだ付け加工フィルタ。
