本実施の形態では、リチウムイオン蓄電デバイスに使用される本発明にかかる正極活物質について説明する。かかる正極活物質は、そのBET比表面積が1500m2/g以上〜3000m2/g以下の範囲内であることが必要である。より好ましくは1900m2/g以上〜2700m2/g以下である。BET比表面積が、1500m2/g未満の場合には比表面積が小さいために得られる単位活物質重量当りの静電容量が少ないという不都合があるため、1500m2/g以上と規定した。また、かかるBET比表面積が、3000m2/gを超えても、電極密度の低下によって電極体積当りの静電容量が少なくなるという不都合があるため、上限を3000m2/gに制限した。
本実施の形態では、前記実施の形態で述べた正極活物質を用いたリチウムイオン蓄電デバイスについて説明する。かかる蓄電デバイスとしては、例えば、リチウムイオンキャパシタに構成することができる。
。
実施例1では、石炭系コークスをアルカリ賦活することで細孔容積比Aおよび細孔容積比Bが、70.2%、20.4%である活性炭aを得た。この活性炭に対し、十分に洗浄することで残留灰分の除去、pH調製を実施した。このようにして作製した活性炭を正極活物質として用いた。
本実施例2では、ヤシ殻をアルカリ賦活することで正極活物質となる活性炭bを得た。それ以外は、全て実施例1と同様にしてリチウムイオンキャパシタbを作製した。なお、この活性炭の細孔容積比Aは48.6%、細孔容積比Bは38.4%であった。
本実施例3では、ヤシ殻をアルカリ賦活することで正極活物質となる活性炭cを得た。それ以外は、全て実施例1と同様にしてリチウムイオンキャパシタcを作製した。なお、この活性炭の細孔容積比Aは57.9%、細孔容積比Bは30.3%であった。
比較例1として、ヤシ殻をアルカリ賦活することで得られた正極活物質となる活性炭dを使用して、リチウムイオンキャパシタdを作製した。かかる活性炭dを使用したこと以外は、全て前記実施例1と同様にした。なお、この活性炭の細孔容積比Aは78.8%、細孔容積Bは11.7%であった。
比較例2として、フェノール樹脂をアルカリ賦活することで正極活物質となる活性炭eを得た。かかる活性炭eを用いて正極を構成したこと以外は、全て実施例1と同様にしてリチウムイオンキャパシタeを作製した。なお、この活性炭の細孔容積比Aは82.8%、細孔容積比Bは10.3%であった。

Claims (5)
- リチウムイオン蓄電デバイスの正極用活物質であって、
前記活物質は、1500m2/g以上〜3000m2/g以下のBET比表面積を有し、
前記活物質の細孔直径範囲0.6nm以上〜200nm以下の細孔容積に占める細孔直径範囲0.6nm以上〜1nm未満の細孔容積の比Aは、0.48≦A≦0.70の範囲にあり、
前記活物質の細孔直径範囲0.6nm以上〜200nm以下の細孔容積に占める細孔直径範囲1nm以上〜6nm以下の細孔容積の比Bは、0.20≦B≦0.52の範囲にあり、かつ、
全細孔容積が1.21cc/g〜1.62cc/gの範囲にあることを特徴とするリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス用正極活物質。 - 請求項1記載のリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス用正極活物質において、
前記細孔容積比Bは0.30≦B≦0.52の範囲であることを特徴とするリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス用正極活物質。 - 請求項1または2に記載のリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス用正極活物質において、前記活物質は、活性炭であることを特徴とするリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス用正極活物質。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス用正極活物質を用いたことを特徴とするリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス。
- 請求項4に記載のリチウムイオン蓄電デバイスにおいて、
電解液にプロピレンカーボネートを含むことを特徴とするリチウムイオン蓄電デバイス。
