Description
塗料配合者は、水性塗料における臭気に関与する配合添加物を低減もしくは除去することを進めてきたが、カルボキシルエステル化合物の存在は問題のあるままであった。このような化合物は、塗料においてバインダーとして機能するエマルションポリマーラテックス中で少量で(例えば、ヘッドスペースにおいて約50〜400ppmで)存在する場合がある。これらカルボキシルエステル化合物は、通常、ラテックスポリマーを形成する重合反応から残る未反応のカルボキシルエステルモノマーに由来し、そしてそのバインダーと共に最終コーティング組成物もしくは塗料中に導入される。低臭気塗料およびコーティングをはじめとする本発明の低臭気ポリマー組成物は、コーティング組成物もしくは塗料の配合前、配合中、または配合後に、水性エマルションポリマーをカルボキシルエステラーゼと接触させることにより、カルボキシルエステル含量を低減させることによって得られる。場合によっては、カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素を効果的に機能停止させるために、1種以上のカルボキシルエステラーゼ不活性化剤の添加が使用されうる。
酢酸ビニルモノマーの重合単位を含むポリマーの場合には、残留酢酸ビニルも臭気の源である。さらに、ビニルアルコールへの酢酸ビニルのその場でのゆっくりとした加水分解、およびその後のアセトアルデヒドへの再変換は、臭気および毒性の双方の観点からさらなる懸念である。
ロジノフ(Rozynov)らへの米国特許第7,014,909号は印刷された物質からアルデヒドをスカベンジする方法を開示するが、ロジノフは酢酸ビニルを除去する方法または酢酸ビニルのアセトアルデヒドへの変換を開示しておらず、さらに、その文献に開示された方法は、酢酸ビニル−アクリルエマルションポリマーラテックスにおいて広く行き渡りかつやっかいな残留アルデヒドであるアセトアルデヒドの除去に効果的ではない。
i)少なくとも1種のカルボキシルエステルモノマーがビニルエステルモノマーである1種以上のカルボキシルエステルモノマーの重合単位を含む1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーの水性分散物;
ii)場合によっては、1種以上のカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素;
iii)50ppmを超える、76未満の分子式量を有する1種以上のモノアルコール;
iv)10ppm未満のアセトアルデヒド;並びに
v)10ppm未満の、150℃未満の標準沸点を有する有機カルボキシルエステル;
を含む水性組成物である。本組成物のモノアルコール、アセトアルデヒドおよび有機カルボキシルエステルの濃度は、33℃でのヘッドスペースガスクロマトグラフィー質量分析(GC−MS)による測定でのヘッドスペース揮発性有機化合物(VOC)含量をいう。
好ましくは、アルデヒドはアセトアルデヒドであり、モノアルコールはn−ブタノール、t−ブタノール、もしくはエタノール、またはこれらの組み合わせである。
好ましくは、組成物は、4を超えるpHで、より好ましくは6を超えるpHで維持される。
ある実施形態においては、水性組成物は、5ppm未満のアセトアルデヒド、および5ppm未満の1種以上の有機カルボキシルエステルのヘッドスペースVOC含量を有する。
別の実施形態においては、水性組成物はコーティング組成物である。
さらなる実施形態においては、水性組成物は1種以上のカルボキシルエステラーゼ不活性化剤をさらに含む。このような実施形態の1つにおいては、カルボキシルエステラーゼ不活性化剤は、1種以上のプロテアーゼ酵素、1種以上の酵素阻害剤、およびこれらの組み合わせ;からなる群から選択される。
本発明のある形態においては、水性コーティング組成物の1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーは、全組成物固形分に対して少なくとも5重量%のエマルションポリマー固形分の量で、酢酸ビニルホモポリマー、酢酸ビニル−アクリル、酢酸ビニル−エチレン、酢酸ビニル−ビニルバーサタート(vinyl versatate)または酢酸ビニル−ビニルバーサタート−アクリルエマルションポリマーを含む。
ある実施形態においては、本方法は、工程a)の任意の時点で、配合して、水性組成物または水性コーティング組成物を提供する工程をさらに含む。
別の実施形態においては、本方法は、組成物においてカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素が0.010マイクロモル/分未満のエステル加水分解活性を有するように、カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素を不活性化する工程をさらに含む。これは、1種以上のプロテアーゼ酵素の添加、または1種以上の酵素阻害剤の添加、またはこれらの組み合わせによって達成される。
本発明は、1,000ppm未満のバルクVOCを有する組成物をはじめとする、これらの方法によって製造される組成物も提供する。
アルデヒド含量を低減するのに有効な1種以上の添加剤と水性組成物を接触させることにより、水性組成物における残留アルデヒドは最小限にされうるかまたは完全に除去されうる。このような添加剤には、例えば、酵母;またはアルデヒドを消費する窒素含有求核分子;または1種以上のアルデヒドの化学変換をもたらす還元剤;が挙げられうる。好適な還元剤の例としては、水素化ホウ素ナトリウムが挙げられる。アルデヒドを消費する好適な窒素含有求核分子の例には、4−アミノベンジルアルコール(4ABA)、p−フェニレンジアミン(PPD)、エチレンイミン(EI)、4−ヒドラジノ安息香酸(4HB)、バルビツール酸(B)、トリエチレンテトラミン(TET)、2−アミノ−2−エチル−1,3−プロパンジオール、アミノグアニジン、並びにアミノ酸、例えば、アルギニン、リシンおよびヒドロキシリシンなどが挙げられる。他の好適なアルデヒドを消費する薬剤は、亜硫酸水素ナトリウム/亜ジチオン酸ナトリウムである。
場合によっては、カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素を効果的に機能停止させるために、1種以上のカルボキシルエステラーゼ不活性化剤の添加が使用されうる。カルボキシルエステラーゼ不活性化剤は、1種以上のプロテアーゼ酵素、1種以上の酵素阻害剤およびこれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択される。
ある実施形態においては、アルデヒド含量を低減させるのに有効な添加剤は、i)酵母;ii)1種以上のアルデヒドの化学変換をもたらす1種以上の還元剤;およびiii)窒素含有求核分子;からなる群から選択される。
別の実施形態においては、本方法は、配合して、水性組成物または水性コーティング組成物を提供する工程をさらに含む。
さらに別の実施形態においては、本方法は水性組成物を提供し、本方法は、a)1種以上の(メタ)アクリルエステルモノマーの重合単位および場合によっては1種以上のビニルエステルモノマーの重合単位を含み、残留アルデヒドを含有する1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーを調製する工程;並びにb)33℃でのヘッドスペースガスクロマトグラフィー質量分析(GC−MS)による測定で、水性組成物が、10ppm未満のアルデヒドの含量によって特徴づけられるヘッドスペースVOC含量を有するように、アルデヒド含量を低減させるのに有効な1種以上の添加剤と、前記1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーの水性分散物とを接触させる工程;を含み、アルデヒド含量を低減させるのに有効な添加剤は、i)酵母;ii)1種以上のアルデヒドの化学変換をもたらす1種以上の還元剤;並びにiii)窒素含有求核分子;からなる群から選択される。好ましい実施形態においては、アルデヒドはアセトアルデヒドである。

スクラブ耐性試験
この試験(ASTM D2486−06に基づく)は以下のように行われた:
A.装置の準備:
1.摩耗試験装置
それぞれの側上の一組のケーブルによって、乾燥適用塗料膜上を前後に動かされるブラケットに固定されたブラシからなる摩耗試験装置が使用される。摩耗試験装置は使用前に水平にされ、そして37±1サイクル/分で操作されなければならない。
2.ブラシ
ブラシの毛は、新しい場合には、塗料表面上を均一にすり減らすのを可能にするように、使用前に平にされなければならない。平にすることは、100または120メッシュの目の細かい酸化アルミニウム紙ヤスリ上でそのブラシを動かすことにより達成される。
1.7/10ダウフィルムキャスターの7mil開口を使用し、パネルの固定端から始めて、黒色ビニルチャート(タイプP−121−10N、ザレネタカンパニー(The Leneta Company))上に塗料をドローダウンさせる。膜のピンホール形成を妨げるために、適用時間は端から端まで3〜4秒とかなり遅くするべきである。73.5±3.5°Fおよび相対湿度50±5%に維持された開放室内で7日間の水平配置で空気乾燥する。
2.各サンプルの3つのドローダウンを作成する。2つを試験し、これらが25%以内の再現性である場合には、これらを平均する。これらが25%以内の再現性でない場合には、3番目のものを試験し、この3つを平均する。
3.ガスケットの付いた枠および真鍮のおもりまたはクランプを用いて摩耗試験装置にこのドローダウンを固定する。
4.ブラシをホルダーに取り付ける。固定されたドローダウン上に10グラムの研磨媒体(摩耗研磨媒体タイプSC−2、ザレネタカンパニー)を分配する。試験を開始する前に、径路の中央にブラシを配置する。
5.試験を開始する。破損する前で、各400サイクル後に、追加の10gの攪拌された研磨媒体がチャート上に分配される。
6.1つの連続した線で完全に塗料の膜を除去するサイクル数を記録する。
この試験はASTM試験方法D4946−89に基づく。膜は以下のようにドローダウンされた:8〜10mlの塗料が、ドローダウンバー(3Milバードフィルムアプリケーター)の手前に、試験チャート(レネタチャート)上に移された。直ちに、両手でドローダウンバーを掴んで、滑らかな膜が約6cm/秒(5秒/試験チャート)の速度で試験塗料で塗り伸ばされた。この膜は恒温室(CTR)内で、試験要件に応じた特定の期間(1日または7日間)硬化させられた。各種の塗料膜の(試験を2回行うために)4つの4cm×4cm区域が準備された。切り出されたこの区域は塗料面が互いに向き合うように配置され、次いで平らな金属プレート上に配置された。それぞれ個々の標本は、狭い方を下にして8番のゴムストッパーで覆われ、1000gのおもりが各ストッパー上に配置された。2組の条件下でそれぞれの塗料のブロック耐性を評価するのが望ましい。これらは、面と面との接触について、(i)室温で24時間、および(ii)50℃で30分である。全ての場合において、おもりおよびストッパーは試験条件下で平衡化された。試験期間後、ストッパーおよびおもりを取り外し、その区域をゆっくりとした一定の力で、約180°の角度で分離させた。このサンプルは、次いで、以下に記載されるような0〜10のスケールでブロック耐性について評定された:

水性組成物中のヘッドスペースVOC含量はASTM3960:塗料および関連するコーティングの揮発性有機化合物(VOC)含量を決定するための標準的な実施:に基づく方法によって決定された。この方法は、水性エマルションポリマーまたは水性塗料上方の、化合物のヘッドスペース濃度を決定するために、静的ヘッドスペースサンプリング/33℃でのGC−MSを使用する。
最低で3つの濃度で較正される、各化合物を含む好適な溶媒(例えば、THF、テトラヒドロフラン)中の較正標準物質を準備する。標準物質濃度は連続希釈によって調製され、重量/重量基準の100万あたりの部(ppm)で計算されるべきである。より低いおよびより高い濃度の標準物質におけるそれぞれの化合物の濃度は、サンプルの分析において決定される化合物の応答を包括する検出器応答を生じさせるべきである。アルミニウムキャップを備えた22mlヘッドスペースバイアルに各標準物質20mgを秤量し、そのキャップをきつく圧着させる。最低でもサンプルのシークエンスの開始および終わりにおいて行われるように、水ブランクについてこの手順を繰り返す。標準物質を含むヘッドスペースバイアルを当該技術分野において知られているヘッドスペースGC−MSにかける。較正を必要とする化合物のそれぞれについて、その化合物についての3つの標準物質濃度を用いて較正プロットを作成する。Y軸に化合物のMS応答の積分面積対X軸にその濃度をプロットする。この較正プロットに適合する線形最小二乗式を作成する。
アルミニウムキャップを備えた22mlヘッドスペースバイアルに各サンプル5gを秤量し、そのキャップをきつく圧着させる。最低でもサンプルのシークエンスの開始および終わりにおいて行われるように、水ブランクについてこの手順を繰り返す。サンプルをヘッドスペースGC−MSで分析する。得られるクロマトグラムにおける、二乗平均平方根ベースラインノイズの5倍より大きいシグナルを有する全てのピークを積分する。揮発性物質の満足行く分離が達成されたら、既知の化合物に対する質量分析および/または保持時間適合が使用されて、検出される化合物を同定する。その化合物の較正プロットからの線形最小二乗式を用いて、サンプルヘッドスペース中の各較正された化合物の濃度を決定する。ヘッドスペース中のその成分の濃度はGC−MS技術によって0.1ppmまで信頼できる。
エマルションポリマーラテックスまたはラテックス塗料についての酵素活性を測定するための手順は類似する。エマルションポリマーラテックスの場合には、エマルションポリマーラテックスバインダーの100gサンプルは、様々な酵素で、2.5〜1,000ppm(湿潤ラテックスの重量に対する酵素の固形分重量)の様々な濃度で処理された。1日平衡化した後、サンプルは約600ppmのアクリル酸エチル(EA)でさらに処理され、pH8.5、室温で48時間、密封ジャー内でインキュベートされた。15、75、135、1440および2880分の時点で5gのサンプルが取り出され、5gのDI水で希釈され、約1.6のpHまで100ppmの48%リン酸で阻害させられ、次いで充分に混合された。次いで、GC−MSまたはGC/FIDによって(実施例1の手順によって)、約10%のEAが消費された時点での、阻害されたラテックスサンプルについてのヘッドスペースEAの変化を計算することにより遊離の酵素の触媒活性が決定された。酵素活性は、加水分解されたEAのマイクロモル数/分(1単位(U)=1μモルEA/分)で表された。酵素処理された塗料における酵素活性は、1.6のpHを達成する量で添加されるリン酸阻害(48%リン酸溶液)を用いて同様に測定される。
1397gのアクリル酸エチル、386gのメタクリル酸メチル(並びに、全モノマーの2重量%未満のメタクリル酸、炭酸ナトリウムおよびn−ドデシルメルカプタン)、499gのDI水および51.8gのアニオン性界面活性剤(30%活性)からモノマーエマルションが形成され、これは攪拌しながら乳化された。9gのアニオン性界面活性剤(30%活性)および547gのDI水が、機械式攪拌装置を備えた4Lマルチネックフラスコに入れられた。このフラスコ内容物は窒素下で75℃に加熱された。攪拌されたケトル内容物に67gのモノマーエマルション、次いで、0.02gの硫酸第一鉄七水和物および23.5gのDI水中の0.02gのエチレンジアミン四酢酸四ナトリウム塩および炭酸ナトリウム(全モノマーを基準にして0.5%未満)を添加した。重合は、36gDI水中の1.2gの過硫酸ナトリウム、次いで、5gのDI水中の0.6gのナトリウムハイドロサルファイトの添加により開始された。その後、モノマーエマルションの漸次添加が開始された。160gのDI水中の3.8gのAPSおよび160gのDI水中の1gのD−イソアスコルビン酸の別々の溶液がモノマーエマルションと共に供給された。モノマーの半分が供給された後で、ウレイドメタクリラートの50%溶液55グラムがモノマーエマルションの残りに添加された。3つの供給物の全添加時間は90−100分であった。反応器温度は重合中ずっと75℃に維持された。32gのDI水が使用されて、反応器へのエマルション供給ラインをすすいだ。モノマーエマルション添加の完了後、反応器は75℃から60℃に冷却され、残留モノマーは追加のレドックス対添加によって低減させられた。ポリマーエマルションは水酸化ナトリウム溶液でpH8に中和された。次いで、2重量%未満のアニオン性界面活性剤および防腐剤が添加された。最終粒子サイズは150nmであり、固形分は50%であった。このポリマーはポリマーAと定められる。
上述のように、バインダーを製造するための乳化重合反応に由来するカルボキシルエステル化合物は主たる臭気源である。有機カルボキシルエステル含量を低減させることは、水性エマルションポリマーまたはコーティング組成物をカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素と接触させることによって達成されうる。エマルションポリマーの酵素処理は「インプロセス」で、すなわち、以下に記載されるようなエマルションポリマーラテックスの形成中に行われうるか;または、この酵素がエマルションポリマーラテックスに後添加されうるか;または、配合されたコーティングまたは塗料組成物に直接この酵素が後添加されうる。
2.酵素処理の一週間後に決定された残留エステルおよびアルコール含量。
*n.d.=検出されず;2ppmの低さの濃度まで信頼できる検出が可能である。以下、1ppm未満のGC−FIDによって検出された成分の濃度はゼロと示される。
2.BA/MMAラテックスは上記表1および2におけるロープレックス商標AC−261(50%固形分)であった。
3.BA/Styラテックスは、実施例3の方法によって得られうる、52BA/46Sty/1MAA/1接着促進剤(他の成分2%未満;50%固形分で供給):の組成を有していた。
4.BA/VAcラテックスは、商業的に入手可能な水性アクリルBA/VAcバインダー(ダウアドバンストマテリアルズ、フィラデルフィア、ペンシルベニア州)で、55%固形分で供給される、ローベース(Rovace商標)9900であった。
塗料の特性に対する酵素処理の効果はこの実施例において、酵素処理されたエマルションポリマーを標準塗料配合物に配合することにより検討された。(あるいは、酵素処理は、塗料配合物への酵素の後添加によって直接行われうる。)スクラブ耐性およびブロック耐性を含む鍵となる塗料特性のいくつかが試験された。
2.ロープレックスVSR−2015(ダウアドバンストマテリアルズ、フィラデルフィア、ペンシルベニア州)は商業的に入手可能な水性アクリルBA/MMAバインダー(他の成分は2%未満)である。
2.1日間RT(75F;相対湿度50%)で硬化した膜、RTで20時間おもりを適用させつつ面と面とを接触させた後で測定されたブロック耐性。
3.7日間RT(75F;相対湿度50%)で硬化した膜、50℃で30分間おもりを適用させつつ面と面とを接触させた後で測定されたブロック耐性。
4.7日間RT(75F;相対湿度50%)で硬化した膜、RTで20時間おもりを適用させつつ面と面とを接触させた後で測定されたブロック耐性。
塗料配合物へのカルボキシルエステラーゼの添加は、エマルションポリマーラテックスへの添加を介した間接的、または塗料への後添加による直接的のどちらであっても、カルボキシルエステラーゼのある濃度については塗料不安定性を生じさせることが見いだされ、これは塗料特性に対する1以上の悪影響という形で表されうる。最も一般的には、この酵素は粘度不安定性を生じさせうるが、ブロック耐性の損失またはスクラブ耐性の損失も起こる場合がある。さらに、この酵素は造膜助剤を攻撃する場合があり、造膜助剤を無効化しおよび/または切断された造膜助剤分子によって、より高いVOCを生じさせうる。
水性ラテックスエマルション塗料における臭気を制御するためのカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素の使用は、塗料中に存在する有機カルボキシルエステル化合物の濃度を標的にする。塗料の重要な特性が悪化する場合には、このアプローチは塗料製造者にとって価値がない。安定なレオロジープロファイルはこの重要な特性の1つである。以下の表10は、様々な濃度で添加される多くの様々な酵素についての、アルコールおよびエステルVOC濃度(および、それによる塗料の臭気)、並びにKU粘度に対する効果を示す。
2.ブロック耐性は上述のように決定され、塗料8(1日間ホットブロックについて1の評定を有しており、劣ったブロック耐性、50〜75%密着を示した)以外の全てのサンプルについて許容可能(全てのカテゴリーにおいて6以上の評定)であることが認められた。

4.GC−MS(実施例1および2において記載される)によって決定された。
上述のように、エマルションポリマーがカルボニル含有モノマーの重合単位を含み、かつ場合によって、この組成物がポリアミンもしくはポリヒドラジドをさらに含みうるポリマーバインダーを含む塗料膜の周囲硬化が達成されうる。この種のエマルションポリマーおよびこのポリマーを製造する方法は、すでに報告されてきた(例えば、米国特許第4,250,070号を参照)。この方法により得られうるアクリルエマルションポリマー組成物は、BA/MMAの組成で、Tg〜10℃のアクリルポリマー(45%固形分)、および2%未満のジアセトンアクリルアミドを含んでおり、この組成物はさらに2%未満のアジピン酸ジヒドラジド(ADH)を含んでいた。
乳化重合付加ポリマーを含む水性コーティング組成物の酵素処理は従来の連続プロセス水蒸気ストリッピングよりもカルボキシルエステルVOC除去の点でより効果的である。例えば、88%のカルボキシルエステルバルクVOCがわずか6ppm(湿潤ラテックス基準の酵素固形分)のCALBLを用いて除去され、これに対して、水蒸気ストリッピングの1回、2回および3回通過後には、それぞれ、50%、70%および80%の低減であったことが見いだされた。しかし、水性組成物を酵素(6ppmCALBL、室温で16日間の接触)で、次いで水蒸気ストリッピングで前処理する組み合わせは、特に効果的であり、水蒸気ストリッピングの1回、2回および3回通過後には、それぞれ、バルクVOCを95%、96%および97%低減させた。
本発明のある実施形態においては、配合物におけるカルボキシルエステラーゼの残留活性はその酵素の不活性化によって制御されうる。
別の実施形態においては、表13および14においてCALBLおよびN51032について示されるように、カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素の不活性化は低分子阻害剤の添加によって達成されうる。この実験は、プロテアーゼの代わりに低分子阻害剤分子が、湿潤ラテックス重量を基準にして1.0重量%の固形分濃度で添加され、かつラテックス中のEAの開始濃度が約115ppmであったことを除いて、実施例10において記載されるのと類似の様式で行われた。以下の表13は、カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素CALBLを含むポリマーラテックス(AC−261)のEA含量に対する低分子阻害剤の効果を示す。低分子阻害剤およびCALBLはt=0の時点で同時に添加された。以下の表においては、可能な低分子阻害剤は以下の通りである:
PBA:フェニルボロン酸
S−1−DS:1−デカン−スルホン酸ナトリウム
NPB:ネオペンチルボロン酸
2MPB:(2−メチルプロピル)ボロン酸
CBA:シクロヘキシルボロン酸
カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素が使用されて、カルボキシルエステルモノマーの臭気閾値濃度未満、さらに好ましくはゼロまでの、カルボキシルエステル残留モノマー濃度の低減を達成することができる。カルボキシルエステラーゼを不活性化する最終的な目標はカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素が必須の配合成分を攻撃しないように残留カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素活性を除去することである。エステルベースの多くの造膜助剤はエステラーゼによって加水分解をかなり受けうることが見いだされてきた。一般的に使用されるこのような増膜助剤の1つはコアゾール(Coasol)である。次のデータセットにおいては、18種の塗料が表17において示される配合に従って配合され、低分子およびプロテアーゼ不活性化方法がカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素による分解からコアゾールを保護できるかどうかかを決定した。表18はこの結果をまとめる。
2.デルタKUは、塗料の当初KU粘度とその1週間平衡化したKU粘度との間の絶対的な差である。40を超える値は測定範囲外であり、これらのサンプルはバターの稠度を有していた。
3.酵素濃度は、湿潤ラテックスに対する乾燥酵素のppmで表される。
4.1%の不活性化剤PBAまたはサビナーゼは、湿潤ラテックスの重量に対する(供給されるままの)薬剤の重量%である。

3.酵素濃度は、湿潤ラテックスに対する乾燥酵素のppmで表される。
4.1%の不活性化剤PBAまたはサビナーゼは、湿潤ラテックスの重量に対する(供給されるままの)薬剤の重量%である。
以下の表21は、アクリルラテックス(AC−261)における典型的な臭気物質に対するカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素を伴うか伴わない、水素化ホウ素ナトリウムNaBH4の使用を示す。
2.グルコールおよび酵母の双方の添加は、アッセイ目的および酵母が満足行く働きをするのを確立するために行われた。
2.酵母(フレイシュマンの(Fleischmann’s)パン酵母の8.5%水溶液)が、湿潤AC−261ラテックスに対して0.01%および0.05%の湿潤酵母溶液の濃度で添加された(それぞれ、85ppmおよび42ppm酵母)。
以下の表26は、酢酸ビニル−アクリルラテックス(ローベース9900)における残留アルデヒド含量に対する求核試薬の効果を示す。ラテックスサンプルは、最初にカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素(50ppmのN51032)で一週間処理され、残留エステルを除去し、かつ残留酢酸ビニルをアセトアルデヒドへ変換させた(エステラーゼはビニルアルコールを生じさせ、これは再変換されて、アセトアルデヒドを形成する)。次いで、各サンプルは55℃で2時間、以下の表26に示される試薬(50ppmの濃度で添加)と共に攪拌され、次いで、1週間の間室温で放置され、その後、ヘッドスペース組成中のアルデヒドの濃度を評価した(GC−MS、33℃)。

Claims (14)
- i)少なくとも1種のカルボキシルエステルモノマーがビニルエステルモノマーである1種以上のカルボキシルエステルモノマーの重合単位を含む1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーの水性分散物;
ii)1種以上のカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素;
iii)50ppmを超えるヘッドスペースVOC含量の、76未満の分子式量を有する1種以上のモノアルコール;
iv)10ppm未満のアルデヒド;並びに
v)10ppm未満の、150℃未満の標準沸点を有する有機カルボキシルエステル;
を含む水性組成物。 - 水性組成物がコーティング組成物である、請求項1に記載の水性組成物。
- 組成物が1,000ppm未満のバルクVOCを有する、請求項1に記載の水性組成物。
- アルデヒドを消費する窒素含有求核分子もしくは亜硫酸水素ナトリウムもしくはこれらの組み合わせをさらに含み、アルデヒドがアセトアルデヒドであり、モノアルコールがn−ブタノール、t−ブタノール、もしくはエタノール、もしくはこれらの組み合わせである、請求項1に記載の水性組成物。
- 組成物が1種以上のカルボキシルエステラーゼ不活性化剤をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の水性組成物。
- カルボキシルエステラーゼ不活性化剤が、1種以上のプロテアーゼ酵素、1種以上の酵素阻害剤、およびこれらの組み合わせ;からなる群から選択される、請求項5に記載の水性組成物。
- 1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーが、全組成物固形分を基準にして少なくとも5重量%のエマルションポリマー固形分の量で、酢酸ビニルホモポリマー、酢酸ビニル−アクリル、酢酸ビニル−エチレン、酢酸ビニル−ビニルバーサタートまたは酢酸ビニル−ビニルバーサタート−アクリルエマルションポリマーを含む、請求項1に記載の水性組成物。
- 1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーがカルボニル含有モノエチレン性不飽和モノマーの重合単位を含み、および、水性コーティング組成物がさらにポリアミンまたはポリヒドラジドを含む、請求項2に記載の水性コーティング組成物。
- a)水性組成物が、33℃でのヘッドスペースガスクロマトグラフィー質量分析(GC−MS)による測定で、10ppm未満の1種以上の有機カルボキシルエステルの含量によって特徴づけられるヘッドスペースVOC含量を有するように、有機カルボキシルエステル含量を低減させるのに有効な量の1種以上のカルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素と、1種以上のカルボキシルエステルモノマーの重合単位を含む1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーの水性分散物とを、工程b)の前に、工程b)と一緒に、または工程b)の後で接触させる工程;および
b)水性組成物が、10ppm未満のアルデヒドのヘッドスペースVOC含量を有するように、アルデヒド含量を低減させるのに有効な1種以上の添加剤と、前記1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーの水性分散物とを接触させる工程;
を含む、水性組成物を提供する方法。 - アルデヒド含量を低減させるのに有能な添加剤が、i)酵母;ii)1種以上のアルデヒドの化学変換をもたらす1種以上の還元剤;およびiii)窒素含有求核分子;からなる群から選択され、アルデヒドがアセトアルデヒドである、請求項9に記載の方法。
- カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素が組成物中で0.010マイクロモル/分未満のエステル加水分解活性を有するように、カルボキシルエステラーゼ酵素を不活性化する工程をさらに含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
- VOCの除去を助けるために水蒸気ストリッピングする工程をさらに含み、この工程は工程a)およびb)の前、工程a)およびb)の後、または工程a)とb)との間で起こることができる、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーが、全組成物固形分に対して少なくとも5重量%のエマルションポリマー固形分の量で、酢酸ビニルホモポリマー、酢酸ビニル−アクリル、酢酸ビニル−エチレン、酢酸ビニル−ビニルバーサタート、酢酸ビニル−ビニルバーサタート−アクリル、またはアクリルエマルションポリマーを含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 1種以上の乳化重合付加ポリマーがカルボニル含有モノエチレン性不飽和モノマーの重合単位を含み、組成物がポリアミンまたはポリヒドラジドをさらに含む、請求項9に記載の方法。
