あらかじめ調製した脂肪酸石けん及び遊離脂肪酸を過剰量のアルカリ化剤で中和することによりin situで生成させた脂肪酸石けんを含む組成物を用いてスタキボトリス・チャルトラム(Stachybotrys chartarum)胞子に対する抗菌作用を検討した。

細菌胞子は、化学的及び物理的作用因子に対して高度に抵抗性である。それらは、殺滅するのが最も困難な微生物であると認識されている。最も重要な胞子形成細菌は、バシラス(Bacillus)及びクロストリジウム(Clostridium)属のメンバーである。炭疽菌(Bacillus anthracis)及びクロストリジウム・ディフィシル(Clostridium difficile)は、ほぼ全世界に分布している。病院におけるクロストリジウム・ディフィシル(Clostridium difficile)の大発生が記載された。この病原体の胞子は、病院環境、例えば、床及び洗面所まわりで長期間生存することができる。バシラス属胞子は、土壌中に豊富に存在し、家畜及び野生動物、並びに感染動物と接触する又は汚染食肉を摂取したヒトに感染を引き起こす。炭疽菌(Bacillus anthracis)胞子は、非常に危険な生物兵器と認識されている。これらの感染因子を中和するための効果的な防除処置を発見することが極めて重要である。本発明の組成物の滅菌作用を、ステンレススチールディスクの表面に付着したバシラス・アトロフェウス(Bacillus atropheus)胞子について検討した。炭疽菌(Bacillus anthracis)のよく知られている代用物であるバシラス・アトロフェウス(Bacillus atropheus)をすべての実験で用いた。すべての処理及び時点について3つの試料(3つの異なるディスク)を実施した。
材料:1枚のディスク当たりバシラス・アトロフェウスの2×106個の胞子を接種したステンレススチールディスク(SGM Biotech Inc)、滅菌済み6mmガラスビーズ、水中0.1%Tween 80及びトリプトソイ寒天プレート

昆虫ベクター(例えば、蚊等)の防除は、感染症(西ナイル、マラリア、脳炎等)の伝染を防除する不可欠な部分である。本発明の組成物は、これらの感染症を引き起こす病原体並びにこれらの病原体を伝播する媒介生物を殺滅するのに有効であり、したがって、感染症のリスクの低減をもたらす。殺虫剤の毒性は、生物学的防除を含む媒介生物防除方法の代替及び総合的実施への関心を高めた。本発明の組成物は、GRAS成分を用いて製造されるため、有毒でなく、ヒト及び環境にとって安全であり、食品と直接接触する面をすすぐ必要がない。

テロリストによる脅威をもたらす可能性がある化学兵器は、サリン(O−イソプロピルメチルホスホノフルオリデート)、ソマン(O−ピナコリルメチルホスホノフルオリデート)、タブン(O−エチルN,N−ジメチルホスホルアミドシアニデート)及びVX(O−エチルS−2−ジイソプロピルアミノエチルメチルホスホノチオレート)などである。これらの物質の化学構造は、リン含有化合物であるということの類似性を示し、本発明の組成物を用いて求核攻撃により化学的に変化させ、それにより化学兵器として中和することができる。

Claims (41)
- (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノールと塩又はエステルである脂肪酸誘導体との混合物を含む水性組成物であって、この組成物が14以上のpHを有し、脂肪酸誘導体が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である水性組成物を準備するステップと、
(b)組成物を、物質を衛生的にするのに有効な量で物質に適用するステップと、
(c)ステップ(b)の結果として生ずる組成物を場合によって除去するステップと
を含む、物質を衛生的にする方法。 - 脂肪酸誘導体がアルカリ金属塩又はアルカリ土類金属塩である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸が、ナトリウム(Na)、カリウム(K)、リチウム(Li)、カルシウム(Ca)又はマグネシウム(Mg)塩である、請求項2に記載の方法。

- モノグリセリドが、4から22個の炭素原子を有する1つ又は複数の脂肪酸或いは8から16個の炭素原子を有する1つ又は複数の飽和又は不飽和脂肪アルコールにエステル又はエーテル結合により結合したグリセロール部分を含む、請求項17に記載の組成物。
- 粘稠化剤、皮膚軟化剤、モイスチャライザー、腐食抑制剤、噴射剤、香料、着香剤、消泡剤、抗酸化剤及び染料からなる群から選択される1つ又は複数の成分をさらに含む、請求項9に記載の組成物。
- (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノールと塩又はエステルである脂肪酸誘導体との混合物を含む水性組成物であって、この組成物が14以上のpHを有し、脂肪酸誘導体が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である水性組成物を準備するステップと、
(b)組成物を、物質を処理するのに有効な量で物質に適用するステップと
を含む物質を処理する方法。 - ステップ(b)の結果として生ずる組成物を物質から除去する、請求項20に記載の方法。
- (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノールを準備するステップと、
(b)アルカノールに可溶の塩又はエステルである脂肪酸誘導体を準備するステップと、
(c)低級アルカノールと脂肪酸誘導体を混合して組成物を得るステップと
を含み、組成物が14以上のpHを有し、脂肪酸誘導体が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である、組成物を調製する方法。 - 低級アルカノールがエタノールである、請求項22に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸誘導体が、アルカリ金属塩又はアルカリ土類金属塩である、請求項22に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸が、ナトリウム(Na)、カリウム(K)、リチウム(Li)、カルシウム(Ca)又はマグネシウム(Mg)塩である、請求項24に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸誘導体が、4から22個の炭素原子を含む脂肪酸のアルカリ金属塩又はアルカリ土類金属塩である、請求項24に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸誘導体がラウリン酸のアルカリ金属塩又はアルカリ土類金属塩である、請求項26に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸誘導体がラウリン酸カリウムである、請求項22に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸誘導体が、ブチルエステル、エチルエステル、メチルエステル、脂肪アシル−補酵素A、スクロースエステル及びモノグリセリドからなる群から選択されるエステルである、請求項22に記載の方法。
- モノグリセリドが、4から22個の炭素原子を有する1つ又は複数の脂肪酸或いは8から16個の炭素原子を有する1つ又は複数の飽和又は不飽和脂肪アルコールにエステル又はエーテル結合により結合したグリセロール部分を含む、請求項29に記載の方法。
- (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノールを準備するステップと、
(b)脂肪酸を準備するステップと、
(c)アルカリ化剤を準備するステップと、
(d)低級アルカノール、脂肪酸及びアルカリ化剤を混合して組成物を得るステップと
を含み、組成物が14以上のpHを有し、脂肪酸誘導体が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である、組成物を調製する方法。 - 低級アルカノールがエタノールである、請求項31に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸が、4から22個の炭素原子を含む脂肪酸である、請求項31に記載の方法。
- 脂肪酸がラウリン酸である、請求項31に記載の方法。
- アルカリ化剤が、アルカリ金属水酸化物、アルカリ土類金属水酸化物、アルカリ金属炭酸塩又は炭酸水素塩及びその混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項31に記載の方法。
- アルカリ化剤が、水酸化アンモニウム、水酸化アルミニウム、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、水酸化リチウム、水酸化カルシウム、水酸化マグネシウム、炭酸ナトリウム、炭酸水素ナトリウム及びその混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項31に記載の方法。
- (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノール、アルカリ化剤及び脂肪酸塩の混合物を含む水性組成物であって、この組成物が14以上のpHを有し、脂肪酸塩が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である水性組成物を準備するステップと、
(b)組成物を、物質を衛生的にするのに有効な量で物質に適用するステップと、
(c)ステップ(b)の結果として生ずる組成物を場合によって除去するステップと
を含む、物質を衛生的にする方法。 - (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノール、
(b)脂肪酸塩が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である、アルカノールに可溶な塩又はエステルである脂肪酸塩、及び
(c)アルカリ化剤
の混合物を含む、14以上のpHを有する組成物。 - (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノールと、脂肪酸塩が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である脂肪酸塩と、アルカリ化剤との混合物を含み、14以上のpHを有する水性組成物を準備するステップと、
(b)組成物を、物質を処理するのに有効な量で物質に適用するステップと
を含む物質を処理する方法。 - (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノール、
(b)脂肪酸、及び
(c)アルカリ化剤を混合するステップを含み、
アルカリ金属脂肪酸塩が組成物を提供するよう形成され、脂肪酸塩が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である、14以上のpHを有する組成物を調製する方法。 - (a)1から6個の炭素原子を含む低級アルカノールを準備するステップと、
(b)脂肪酸を準備するステップと、
(c)アルカリ化剤を準備するステップと、
(d)低級アルカノール、脂肪酸及びアルカリ化剤を混合して組成物を得るステップと
を含み、脂肪酸誘導体が組成物の0.1重量%〜25重量%である、14以上のpHを有する組成物を調製する方法。
