Description
本発明は、少なくとも部分的にポリテトラフルオロエチレンから形成された医療用バルーン一般に関する。
ステントなど医療用具の拡張及び配置のためのみならず、身体血管の拡張のために医療用バルーンを使用することが公知である。医療用バルーンは、単一の材料層、或いは多数の材料層から形成され得る。多層のバルーンの場合には、多数の層が同一又は異なる材料であってもよい。
バルーンを提供する。
本出願のあらゆる箇所にて言及された米国特許及び他のすべての出版された文献は全て、それらの全体が参照によって本明細書に組み入れられる。
本発明はEPTFE及び同様の材料をからなる医療用バルーン、並びにそのようなバルーンが取り付けられたカテーテルに関する。本明細書に開示された医療用バルーンは、少なくともその一部に内部層、中間層及び外部層を有する。内部層と外部層との間に設けられた中間層は、EPTFEから形成される。内部及び外部層には、熱可塑性材料、可撓性材料及び熱可塑性エラストマー材料を含む、多様な材料が使用され得る。
本発明は、破壊試験圧力に対してほぼ線形のコンプライアンス曲線を有した第1部分、及び段階的なコンプライアンス曲線を有した第2部分を有したバルーンに関する。
本発明は様々な形式で実施され得るが、本発明の特定の好適な実施形態がここに詳細に記載される。この記載は発明の原理の例示であり、本発明を例示された特定の実施形態に制限するものではない。
どのフッ化されたポリマー材料の少なくとも1つの中間層が存在すること一般を特徴とする。中間層は、中間層の材料と異なる第1のバルーン材料の内部層と、中間層の材料と異なる第2のバルーン材料の外部層の間に配置される。第1及び第2バルーン材料は同一、又は互いに異なり得る。
図4に示される別の実施形態では、中間層122は、基端側及び末端側胴部138の少なくとも一部に亙り拡張する。
本発明は、図6において112で示される箇所に内部層118、外部層126及び中間層122を少なくとも有した医療用バルーンに関する。中間層122は、内部層118及び外部層126によって包囲され、或いは被殻される。内部層118及び外部層126は中間層122を包囲すべくともに結合される。図6に示されるように、内部層118及び外部層126は基端側と末端側の胴部138で結合される。それらは錐体部分134において結合されてもよい。
異なるコンプライアンス曲線を有した区間を特徴とするバルーンは、米国特許第574985号、米国特許第5447497号及び米国特許第5358487号により一般的に記載されている。これらは、参照によってそれらの全体において本明細書に組み入れられる。
ルーンへ張力を与えること、及び/又は予備的形成品をブローイングすることにより一定の径方向に外部への力を与えることが含まれ得る。
その発明は、さらに本発明のバルーンを形成方法にも関する。この方法は、第1、第2及び第3チューブを提供する工程と、第1チューブを第2チューブに挿入する工程と、第3チューブに第2チューブを挿入する工程と、バルーン成形用型に第1、第2及び第3チューブを挿入する工程と、バルーンを形成すべく第1、第2及び第3チューブを好適な温度で拡張する工程とを有する。第2のチューブはEPTFEから形成される。
テル210は、内部に傷216を有した血管214内にある。バルーン212は傷216内に配置され、血管の拡張直前の部分的に拡張した状態が示される。
(実施例1)
構造バルーンの外部及び内部層が、アーニテル樹脂(登録商標)EM−740から形成されたチューブ状予備的形成品から形成された。中間層はEPTFEから形成された。2本のアーニテル樹脂(登録商標)EM−740チューブは、内径、外径として内部チューブについてそれぞれ0.043cm(0.017インチ)及び0.079cm(0.03
1インチ)、外部チューブについてそれぞれ0.127cm(0.050インチ)及び0.152cm(0.060インチ)を有していた。その後、チューブは同軸に組み立てられてサンドイッチ構造に帰着した。また、アッセンブリはEPTFEチューブを伸長せずに、室温にて伸縮された。
形成されたバルーンはサンドイッチ構造を有していた。
Claims (3)
- i)第1材料で形成されるとともにバルーン形状を有する内部層と、
ii)第2材料から形成され、前記内部層とともに延伸している外部層と、
iii)ePTFE及び高密度ポリエチレンからなるグループから選択される、結節点
及び小繊維の構造を有した材料からなり、前記内部層及び外部層の間に形成されている中間層とを含む少なくとも3つの層を有した部分を有する積層形態の医療用バルーンにおいて、
前記第1材料及び第2材料は前記中間層の材料と異なり、前記中間層は前記内部層に積層され、かつ前記中間層は前記外部層に積層されている、医療用バルーン。 - i)第1材料で形成されるとともにバルーン形状を有する内部層と、
ii)第2材料から形成され、前記内部層とともに延伸している外部層と、
iii)ePTFE及び高密度ポリエチレンからなるグループから選択される、結節点
及び小繊維の構造を有した材料からなり、前記内部層及び外部層の間に形成されている中間層とを含む少なくとも3つの層を有した部分を有する医療用バルーンにおいて、
前記第1材料及び第2材料は前記中間層の材料と異なり、前記中間層が本体部分上にのみ延伸している、医療用バルーン。 - i)第1材料で形成されるとともにバルーン形状を有する内部層と、
ii)第2材料から形成され、前記内部層とともに延伸している外部層と、
iii)ePTFE及び高密度ポリエチレンからなるグループから選択される、結節点
及び小繊維の構造を有した材料からなり、前記内部層及び外部層の間に形成されている中間層とを含む少なくとも3つの層を有した部分を有する医療用バルーンにおいて、
前記中間層は前記内部層と外部層によって被殻され、前記中間層は前記内部層に積層され、かつ前記中間層は前記外部層に積層されている、医療用バルーン。
