本発明者らは、100℃(ASTM D−445)において約40〜約100cStの動粘度の特徴を有し、一つの態様において低流動点のような望ましい低温特性を有する高粘度PAOにオリゴマー化することができる1−デセン/1−ドデセン混合物を見出した。
本発明は、一つの態様において100℃(ASTM D−445)における約40〜約100cStの動粘度の特徴を有し、一つの態様において低流動点のような望ましい低温特性を有する高粘度PAOを生産するためのハロゲン化アルミニウムと水との複合体を用いてオリゴマー化した1−デセンおよび1−ドデセンを含む直鎖状α−オレフィンの混合物に関する。
従来のオレフィン原料(実施例1については1−デセン、実施例2については1−オクテン/1−ドデセン)を用いて製造した市販PAOの物理特性データを下記表1の実施例1および2に示した。生成物について−42℃の流動点が得られた。生成物の粘度指数VIは150〜151の範囲であった。
C10/C12オレフィン(1−デセンおよび1−ドデセン)の55/45重量%混合物のオリゴマー化を前述の操作により1.45重量%のAlCl3濃度を用いて行った。オレフィン添加時間は2時間(添加時間)であり、全体の反応はさらに1時間(維持時間)維持した。温度は反応中に45℃〜61℃の間を変動した。これにより−42℃の流動点および152のVIを有するPAO生成物が得られた。
原料組成物が50/50重量%のC10/C12オレフィン混合物であり、触媒濃度が1.33重量%AlCl3であることを除き、操作は実施例3と同様であった。反応温度は45℃〜58℃の間で変動した。生成物の流動点は−42℃であり、VIは151であった。
原料組成物が100%のC12オレフィン混合物であることを除き、操作は実施例3と同様であった。添加時間は3時間、維持時間は1時間であり、触媒濃度が1.3重量%AlCl3であった。反応温度は45℃〜50℃の間で変動した。生成物の流動点は−33℃であり、VIは158であった。
原料組成物が50/50重量%のC12/C14オレフィン混合物であることを除き、操作は実施例3と同様であった。添加時間は3時間、維持時間は1時間であり、触媒濃度は1.4重量%、反応温度は45℃〜50℃の間で変動した。生成物の流動点は−21℃であり、VIは161であった。
従来のオレフィン原料(実施例7については1−デセン、実施例8については1−オクテン/1−ドデセン)を用いて製造した市販PAOの物理特性データを下記表2の実施例7および8に示した。生成物について−33℃の流動点が得られた。生成物の粘度指数VIは168であった。
C10/C12オレフィンの55/45重量%混合物の実験室における重合を実験項の前述の操作により2.45重量%のAlCl3濃度を用いて行った。原料添加時間は3時間であり、維持時間は2時間であった。反応温度は37℃〜45℃の間で変動した。生成物のPAOは−33℃の流動点を有し、VIは173であった。
原料が50/50重量%のC10/C12オレフィン混合物であり、触媒濃度が3.0重量%AlCl3であり、反応温度は37℃〜45℃の間で変動したことを除き、実施例9と同様に行った。生成物の流動点は−33℃であり、VIは173であった。
原料が100%のC12オレフィン混合物であることを除き、操作は実施例9と同様に行った。添加時間は3時間、触媒濃度が3重量%AlCl3であり、反応温度は40℃〜45℃であった。生成物の流動点は−27℃であり、VIは176であった。
C12/C14オレフィンの60/40(重量%)混合物を用いた場合、流動点は−21℃に上昇した。重合操作は実施例9と同様であった。添加時間は3時間、維持時間は2時間であり、触媒濃度は2.8重量%であった。生成物は180のVIを有した。
C10/C12オレフィンの55/45重量%混合物の2−CSTR市販設定におけるオリゴマー化を行い、40cStPAOを生産した。このプロセスでは、1.2重量%のAlCl3濃度、50℃の反応温度、AlCl31モルあたり0.5モルの水、および反応槽1および2におけるそれぞれ2時間および1時間の滞留時間を用いた。生成物のPAOは40.19cStの100℃粘度、152のVI、および−51℃の流動点を有した。
同様の2−CSTR設定により、C10/C12オレフィンの55/45重量%混合物を用いて100cStPAOを生産した。AlCl3濃度は3.0重量%であり、AlCl31モルあたり0.5モルの水を用い、反応温度は40℃であり、希釈剤濃度(Norpar(商標)12)の濃度は22重量%であり、反応槽1および2における滞留時間はそれぞれ2.5時間および1.2時間であった。生成物のPAOは104.2cStの100℃粘度、172のVI、および−39℃の流動点を有した。
Claims (9)
- 100℃において40cSt〜100cSt(ASTM D−445)の動粘度、および1200〜4000の数平均分子量を有するPAO生産するのに十分な時間、重量ベースで40〜60%の1−デセン・モノマー単位および60〜40%の1−ドデセン・モノマー単位を含む原料を26℃〜60℃の温度および大気圧〜50psiaの圧力を含むオリゴマー化条件下でオリゴマー化反応ゾーンにおいてAlCl3またはAlBr3と水との錯体を含むオリゴマー化触媒と接触させる工程を含むポリα−オレフィン(PAO)の製造方法であって、
前記PAOが、100℃で40cStの動粘度(ASTM D−445)を有するときは、150以上の粘度指数(ASTM D−2270)、および−42℃以下の流動点(ASTM D−97)を有し、ならびに
前記PAOが、100℃で100cStの動粘度(ASTM D−445)を有するときは、170以上の粘度指数(ASTM D−2270)、および−30℃以下の流動点(ASTM D−97)を有する、製造方法。 - 前記原料が、重量ベースで45〜55%の1−デセン・モノマー単位および55〜45%の1−ドデセン・モノマー単位を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記原料がさらに希釈剤を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記希釈剤が、C6〜C13パラフィン性流体から選択される1つ以上の炭化水素流体を含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の製造方法。
- 前記オリゴマー化触媒が、AlCl31モルあたり0.5モルの水を有するAlCl3−水複合体であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記オリゴマー化反応ゾーンが連続撹拌タンク反応槽(CSTR)を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記オリゴマー化反応ゾーンが連続した1つより多くのオリゴマー化反応槽を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 未反応モノマー性およびダイマー性分子種を除去するため蒸留する工程、オリゴマーを飽和化するための更なる分離操作を伴わずに得られる生成物の水素化してオリゴマーを飽和する工程、引き続いて前記PAOを回収する工程をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記PAOを工業用潤滑剤にブレンドすることをさらに含む請求項1に記載の製造方法。
