部分分解デキストランの製造(1):
原料デキストランとして、平均分子量1.5〜2×104のものを用いた。このデキストラン(1.0g, 6.2mmol ユニット)を100mLの純水に溶解し、NaOH(0.1N)を添加した。この溶液に次亜塩素酸ナトリウム水溶液(25.6mL、1.28g、17mmol(有効塩素濃度5%以上);デキストランに対するモル比は、約300倍)を加え、室温下で24時間攪拌した。その後、同じ量の次亜塩素酸ナトリウム水溶液(デキストランに対するモル比は、約300倍)を追加し、室温下で2日間撹拌した。

部分分解デキストランの製造(2):
実施例1と同じ条件下でデキストラン(1.0g)と次亜塩素酸ナトリウム水溶液(25.6mL、1.28g、17mmol/デキストランに対するモル比約300倍)を反応させ、部分分解デキストラン(2)を得た(収率29質量%)。

部分分解デキストランの製造(3):
実施例1と同じ条件下でデキストラン(1.0g)と次亜塩素酸ナトリウム水溶液(14.1mL、0.70g、9.4mmol/デキストランに対するモル比約165倍)を反応させ、部分分解デキストラン(3)を得た(収率20質量%)。

腐食抑制試験:
開放系で、35℃において撹拌されている水道水(相模原市水または戸田市水)に軟鋼(炭素鋼)を浸漬し、7日後の重量減少を測定することにより腐食抑制試験を行った。これらの水道水の腐食抑制剤を含まないときの腐食速度(対照試験)は、相模原市水では150.3mdd、戸田市水では105〜132mddでほぼ同等と見なし、これらの平均から対照の腐食速度を(1.3±0.2)×102mddとした。なお、相模原市水の分析データは以下の通りである。
