Description
本願は、2004年5月18日に出願された米国特許出願第10/847,807号明細書の一部継続(CIP)出願であり、この米国特許出願は、2003年9月12日に出願された米国特許出願第10/661,204号明細書の一部継続出願であり、この米国特許出願は、2002年12月19日に出願された米国特許出願第10/326,022号明細書の一部継続であり、これら米国特許出願を参照により引用し、これらの記載内容全体を本明細書の一部とする。
他の実施形態では、ドライインサート14の第1の層14aは、チューブ組立体10内では非圧縮状態であるが、光導波路の運動が開始された場合に圧縮を開始する。他の変形例としては、ドライインサート14の一部をチューブ18に取り付け又は結合することが挙げられる。例えば、接着剤、グルー、エラストマー及び(又は)ポリマー14cは、ドライインサート14をチューブ18に取り付けるためにチューブ18に接触しているドライインサート14の表面の一部に施される。例えば、層14cは、チューブ18の押出し成形中、少なくとも部分的に溶けるポリマー層であり、それにより層14cとチューブ18との間に結合部が作られる。さらに、ドライインサート14を、長手方向に配置するのではなく、光導波路12に螺旋に巻き付けることが可能である。さらに別の実施形態では、2つ又は3つ以上のドライインサートを1本又は2本以上の光導波路12の周りに形成してもよく、例えば、2つの半部がチューブ18内に配置される。
この場合、リボン結合試験は、引張溝車をケーブル端部のそれぞれのシース上に配置することにより600ポンド(272kg)の引張力をケーブルの250m長さ分に加えることによりダクトに納めた状態の地下ケーブル布設をシミュレートしている。しかしながら、他のシミュレーションにおいてリボン結合状態を特徴付けるために、他の適当な荷重、長さ及び(又は)布設形態を使用することができる。次に、光導波路の長さに沿って光導波路に加わる力をケーブルの端から測定する。ブリルアン・オプティカル・タイム−ドメイン・レフレクトメータ(Brillouin Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer:BOTDR)を用いて光導波路に加わる力を測定する。曲線の最良適合勾配を求めることにより、リボン結合力が標準化される。
Claims (3)
- 光チューブ組立体であって、
チューブと、
前記チューブ内に納められた少なくとも1本の光導波路と、
少なくとも1つのドライインサートとを有し、前記少なくとも1つのドライインサートは、第1の層及び第2の層を有し、
前記第1の層はフォーム層であり、
前記第2の層は、2つの不織テープ状材料の間に設けられマイクロベンディングを阻止する平均粒径が600ミクロン以下の複数個の吸水膨張性粒子を有する吸水膨張性テープである吸水膨張性層であり、
前記第1の層は接着剤によって前記第2の層に取り付けられ、前記ドライインサートは前記チューブ内に納められ、且つ前記少なくとも1本の光導波路の回りに設けられ、
前記フォーム層は、連続気泡のエーテル系ポリウレタンフォームであり、前記気泡の平均的大きさが、1000ミクロン以下であり、さらに、前記光導波路から見て遠くに位置する気泡が大きく、光導波路に接触するフォームの表面の近くの気泡が小さく、
前記少なくとも1本の光導波路は、リボンの一部であり、前記リボンは、0.5N/m〜5.0N/mの標準化された引抜き力を有し、
前記少なくとも1つのドライインサートは、非圧縮高さhが、5mm以下である、
ことを特徴とする光チューブ組立体。 - 前記光チューブ組立体は、光ファイバケーブルの一部である、
請求項1に記載の光チューブ組立体。 - 前記光チューブ組立体は、光ファイバケーブルの一部であり、前記光ファイバケーブルは、外装テープを有する、
