Description
[発明の概要]
1) ナイロン12またはアミンナイロン11ポリマー、あるいはこれらと40重量%までの量の他の相溶性熱可塑性ポリマー性材料とのブレンドを含む不織ウェブ;あるいは
2) アミン末端低吸湿性のアミン末端ナイロン12またはアミン末端ナイロン11ポリマー、あるいはこれらと40重量%までの量の他の相溶性熱可塑性ポリマー性材料とのブレンドを含む繊維質または非繊維質マトリックス、
のいずれかを実質的に均一な厚さで供することによってポリマー性接着マトリックスを製造する方法が提供される。またこの方法は、1) ポリマー粒子、2) フィルム、3) 不織ウェブまたは4) 非繊維質立体網状ウェブのいずれかのこのような実質的に均一な厚さのマトリックスを供することも含み得る。加えて、この方法は、上記ナイロン12またはナイロン11ポリマーを他の相溶性低吸湿性熱可塑性ポリマー(好ましくはナイロンポリマー)と共重合することを含む、ポリマー性接着マトリックスの提供も含み得る。また、多層複合材料積層体を性付する方法も提供され、この方法は、複数の強化用繊維層の間に配置される本発明による実質的に均一な厚さのポリマー性接着マトリックスの少なくとも一つの層を供することを含み、前記ポリマー性接着マトリックスは、好ましくは、繊維質ウェブまたは非繊維質不織ウェブである。
[好ましい態様の説明]
ナイロン12に基づく自己結合布を用いた一軸性炭素繊維堆積物の予積層化
図2は、この予積層行程の例示である。強化用炭素繊維をビームから供給し、次いで櫛で分けることにより、フィラメントを幅16インチに渡って均等に分配して、ばら繊維(loose fiber)のテープ状堆積物とする。このヤーンは、フィラメント当たり10デニールで700本のフィラメントを含む(インチ当たり15〜20本のヤーン)。このテープを、結合装置のコンベアベルトによって一分間当たり約20フィートのライン速度で引っ張り、そして巻取器で巻き取る。310°Fの温度の結合装置に導入する前に、炭素繊維堆積物をポリマーに接触させる。

巻取器: 標準繊維材料巻取器
新たに混合した原料ブレンドを押出機のホッパーに供給する。この押出機は、約340°Fの溶融温度まで、ポリマーを溶融する温度プロフィルに設定する。発泡した押出物を、同時に空気で急冷しながら放射形ダイを通して押出しして立体網状の押出物を形成し、これを、26インチ径のエクスパンジョンリングを介して拡布しながら更に展開させて、チューブ状のウェブを形成する。このウェブは下流では潰れて平坦な二枚重ねのウェブとなる。最終の立体網状ウェブは、幅が32インチであり、これを巻取器上に巻き取る。

例1と同じ条件下に、4重量%のVersamid(R)ポリアミドとブレンドしたナイロン11を、ポリマー性接着ウェブとして押出しする。次いで、このポリマー性接着ウェブを利用して、例1と同じ条件下に炭素繊維複合材料積層体を形成する。
例1と同じ条件下に、4重量%のVersamid(R)ポリアミドとブレンドした50/50重量%比のナイロン11/ナイロン12ブレンドをポリマー性接着ウェブとして押出しする。次いで、このポリマー性接着ウェブを利用して、例1と同じ条件下に炭素繊維複合材料積層体を形成する。
布のコーティング及びパジング
自己結合した接着布の繊維を構成するナイロン12ポリマーブレンドの化学親和性を向上するために、アミン添加剤を溶解して粘性溶液とし、そしてこれを、不織布を構成する繊維の表面に塗布する。この例で使用した装置を図3に示す。この方法では、自己結合した接着布を、供給ロールから案内ローラを介してパッダ及びコータのニップ中に送る。そのニップ圧は、コーティング作用を制御する。ニップロールのロール回転は、ニップに供給されるコート液の重量を制御する。塗布された布はパッダを離れ、乾燥域中に入り、そして巻取器に向かって進行する。この巻取器は、フィルムの送出しのための巻出位置を含む。

例7の装置及び方法を用いて、同じ不織ポリマー性接着ウェブを製造し、これを次いで、硬化剤を含まない高粘度エポキシ樹脂でコーティングする。この方法の製造物は、硬化してない限りは、比較的湿った粘着性の状態の布である。そのため、予積層工程における巻出しを容易化するために、巻き取りの前に、製造物ロールとコーティングされた布との間に薄いフィルムを敷くことを除いて、上記のウェブを例3と同じようにコーティングする。予積層化の間、上記フィルムはそのまま接着布と一緒にしておくことができ、そうして炭素繊維堆積物が二つのフィルム層の間に存在する予積層体を形成することができる。当然、最終の堆積物では、この差し込まれたフィルムは除去する必要がある。
Claims (13)
- アミン末端ナイロン12もしくはアミン末端ナイロン11ポリマー、またはこれらと40重量%までの量の他の相溶性熱可塑性ポリマー性材料とのブレンドから本質的になるアミン末端ポリアミドから本質的になる実質的に均一な厚さの非繊維質立体網状ウェブから本質的になるポリマー性接着マトリックス。
- アミン末端ナイロン12またははアミン末端ナイロン11が、ナイロン6,10、ナイロン6またはナイロン6,6と共重合されている、請求項1のポリマー性接着マトリックス。
- 不織布ウェブが布の幅を横断する連続フィラメントからなる自己結合した繊維マトリックスによって形成される、請求項1のポリマー性接着マトリックス。
- アミン末端ナイロン12もしくはアミン末端ナイロン11ポリマー、またはこれらと40重量%までの量の他の相溶性熱可塑性ポリマー性材料とのブレンドから本質的になるアミン末端ポリアミドから本質的になる実質的に均一な厚さの非繊維質立体網状ウェブから本質的になるポリマー性接着マトリックスの少なくとも一つの層を含み、このポリマー性接着マトリックスが、バインダー樹脂で含浸された複数の強化層の間に配置されている、多層積層体。
- ポリマー性接着マトリックスが、実質的に均一な厚さを有する繊維質ウェブである、請求項4の多層積層体。
- ポリマー性接着マトリックスの表面が、このマトリックスをアミン変性剤でコーティングすることによって変性させられている、請求項5の多層積層体。
- アミンて変性された樹脂が強化繊維層の上にコーティングされて、それによってバインダー樹脂とポリマー性接着マトリックスとの間の親和性が高められている、請求項5の多層積層体。
- アミンて変性されたポリマー性接着マトリックスの粉末または粒状物の実質的に均一な厚さの層を強化繊維層の上に含む、請求項7の多層積層体。
- ポリマー性接着マトリックスが、三次元構造体の形の不織ウェブであり、そして繊維断面が、それぞれ異なる融点を有する二種のポリマーからなるシース/コアポリマー系を含む、請求項4の多層積層体。
- ポリマー性接着マトリックスが、相溶性熱可塑性ナイロンポリマーを少なくとも5重量%から40重量%までの量で含む、請求項4の多層積層体。
- アミン末端ナイロン12もしくはアミン末端ナイロン11ポリマー、またはこれらと40重量%までの量の他の相溶性熱可塑性ポリマー性材料とのブレンドから本質的になるアミン末端ポリアミドから本質的になる非繊維質立体網状ウェブを実質的に均一な厚さで供することによって、請求項1のポリマー性接着マトリックスを製造する方法。
- 複数の強化繊維層の間に配置された請求項1の実質的に均一な厚さのポリマー性接着マトリックスの少なくとも一つの層を供することを含む、多層複合材料積層体の製造方法。
- それぞれ異なる融点を有する二種のポリマーを含む不織ウェブであるポリマー性接着マトリックスを供することを含む、請求項12の方法。
