図1および図2において、101は第1の基板、102は第2の基板、2はシール材、3は液晶材料、4は仕切り部材、4Aは第1の仕切り部、4Bは第2の仕切り部、DAは画像表示領域、BSは第2領域である。

Claims (6)
- 液晶材料を介して対向配置された2枚の基板と、
前記基板の周辺に配置された環状のシール材と、
画像表示領域を含む第1領域と、
仕切り部材により前記第1領域と空間的に分離独立している第2領域を有することを特徴とする表示装置であって、
前記第2領域は画像表示領域外に複数あり、少なくとも1つの第2領域での前記液晶材料の充填率は他の第2領域と異なることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記仕切り部材は、前記環状のシール材に沿った第1の仕切り部と、
前記環状のシール材および前記第1の仕切り部と接続して、前記環状のシール材と前記第1の仕切り部の間を1つ以上の領域に分割する第2の仕切り部を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 第1の基板の周辺に配置された環状のシール材を形成する第1の工程と、
前記環状のシール材の形成された領域内に液晶材料を滴下する第2の工程と、
第2の基板を前記第1の基板と重ね合わせる第3の工程を有する液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記第1の工程と同時あるいは前記第2の工程より前に、他の領域と空間的に分離独立している複数の分離領域を画像表示領域外にシール材で形成する工程を有することを特徴とする表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記第3の工程以降に、前記分離領域を形成するシール材の一部を切断または開口する第4の工程を有することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記第4の工程は、レーザを照射する工程を含む請求項4に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記第4の工程は、前記第1の基板または第2の基板と前記シール材の接着界面に設けられた膜を除去する工程を含む請求項4に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
