以下、本発明の第1実施形態について図1〜図4に基づいて説明する。図1は本第1実施形態の2次電池充電システムの全体構成を示しており、図2は燃料電池ユニットの構成を示している。本実施形態の車両は、内燃機関1を走行用駆動源とするものであり、2次電池1、電気負荷2、発電装置3、燃料電池ユニット10、制御部30等が搭載されている。
カソード側:5/2O2+5H2O+10e-→10OH-
カソード側での水は、アノード側で生成した水が電解質膜内を拡散してカソード側に到達することで得られる。
次に、本発明の第2実施形態について説明する。本第2実施形態は、上記第1実施形態に比較して、燃料電池15の起動条件が異なるものである。以下、上記第1実施形態と異なる部分についてのみ説明する。
次に、本発明の第3実施形態について図5に基づいて説明する。本第3実施形態は、上記第1実施形態に比較して、燃料電池15の起動条件が異なる。以下、上記第1実施形態と異なる部分についてのみ説明する。
次に、本発明の第4実施形態について図6に基づいて説明する。本第4実施形態は、上記第1実施形態に比較して、電圧変換回路32の構成が異なる。以下、上記第1実施形態と異なる部分についてのみ説明する。
次に、本発明の第5実施形態について図7に基づいて説明する。本第5実施形態は、上記第1実施形態に比較して、燃料電池15の構成が異なる。以下、上記第1実施形態と異なる部分についてのみ説明する。

次に、本発明の第7実施形態について図9に基づいて説明する。以下、上記第1実施形態と異なる部分についてのみ説明する。
改質器22には、加熱手段としての電気ヒータ(図示せず)が設けられており、エチレングリコールが改質可能温度(例えば250℃)以上に加熱されるように構成されている。電気ヒータは、二次電池1から電源供給される。改質反応開始後は、改質反応にて発生した熱でエチレングリコールが加熱されるので、電気ヒータによる加熱は不要となる。
なお、上記実施形態では、燃料電池15にて発生した電気エネルギを2次電池1の充電に用いたが、これに限らず、燃料電池15にて発生した電気エネルギを電気負荷2に直接供給するように構成してもよい。この場合には、燃料電池15の発電電圧を昇圧する電圧変換回路32を燃料電池15と電気負荷2との間に設ければよい。
Claims (14)
- 内燃機関(7)を走行用駆動源とし、エチレングリコールを含有する冷却液を熱媒体として用いる冷却装置(8〜10)により前記内燃機関(7)が冷却される車両に搭載される車両用発電システムであって、
前記冷却液内のエチレングリコールを燃料として用い、エチレングリコールと酸化剤との電気化学反応により電気エネルギを発生させる燃料電池(15)を備えることを特徴とする車両用発電システム。 - 前記燃料電池(15)は、燃料としてアルコールまたはエーテルを用いた場合にも電気エネルギを発生させることが可能であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記冷却液からエチレングリコールを分離する分離手段(14)を備え、
前記燃料電池(15)は、前記分離手段(14)により分離されたエチレングリコールを燃料として用いて電気エネルギを発生させることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の車両用発電システム。 - 前記分離手段(14)は、前記冷却液からエチレングリコールを分離する膜(14a)を備えていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記分離手段(14)は、前記膜(14a)または前記冷却液を振動させる振動手段(14d)を備えることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の車両用発電システム。
- 内燃機関(7)を走行用駆動源とし、エチレングリコールを含有する冷却液を熱媒体として用いる冷却装置(8〜10)により前記内燃機関が冷却される車両に搭載される車両用発電システムであって、
前記冷却液に含まれるエチレングリコールを改質して水素を生成させる改質手段(22)と、
酸化剤と前記改質手段(22)により生成された水素を燃料として用い、前記燃料と酸化剤との電気化学反応により電気エネルギを発生させる燃料電池(15)を備えることを特徴とする車両用発電システム。 - 前記車両には、前記内燃機関の始動に必要な電力を供給する2次電池(1)と、前記内燃機関の停止時に電力を消費するとともに、前記内燃機関の停止時に前記2次電池から電力供給される電気負荷(2)とが搭載されており、
前記燃料電池(15)は、電気化学反応により発生した電気エネルギを前記2次電池(1)あるいは前記電気負荷(2)の少なくとも一方に供給可能に構成されており、
前記分離手段(11)から前記燃料電池(15)への燃料の供給を制御する燃料供給制御手段(21、31)とを備え、
前記燃料供給制御手段(21、31)は、所定条件が成立した場合に、前記燃料電池(15)に燃料を供給させ、前記燃料電池(15)における発電を開始させることを特徴とする請求項1ないし6のいずれか1つに記載の車両用発電システム。 - 前記所定条件は、前記内燃機関(7)が停止してから所定期間が経過したことであることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記所定条件は、前記内燃機関(7)が停止していることであることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記燃料電池(15)は、複数の燃料電池セルが電気的に直列接続されて構成されていることを特徴とする請求項7ないし9のいずれか1つに記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記燃料電池(15)での発電電圧を昇圧する電圧変換手段(32)を備えることを特徴とする請求項7ないし10のいずれか1つに記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記電圧変換手段(32)は、昇圧回路を複数備えていることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記電圧変換手段(32)は、前記2次電池(1)からの電源供給により作動することを特徴とする請求項11または12に記載の車両用発電システム。
- 前記エチレングリコールには、ジエチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコールが含まれていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし13のいずれか1つに記載の車両用発電システム。
