Claims (15)
- データ信号を印加するカラムライン及び走査信号を印加するローラインと、
前記カラムラインと前記ローラインとの交差領域に形成される1つ以上の画素である有機電界発光素子と、
前記ローラインに走査信号を順次印加する走査駆動部と、
複数のグループにグループ化した前記カラムラインに対して、前記グループ毎に、データ信号に相応する駆動電流を印加する共通電流源及び前記共通電流源と電気的にそれぞれ接続され、前記各グループに属するカラムラインのそれぞれに対して、前記走査信号が印加される駆動期間内に、前記駆動電流のうち、第1駆動電流と前記第1駆動電流よりも大きさが小さい第2駆動電流とを順次印加し、次いで如何なる電流も印加しない期間を経て、再び前記第2駆動電流を印加することを前記駆動期間が終了するまで断続的に繰り返す駆動スイッチ素子を備えるデータ駆動部と、
前記各カラムラインに設置され、各カラムラインに駆動電流が印加される前にターンオンされ、その後の駆動期間の間にターンオフされる充電スイッチと、
前記グループ毎に、それぞれのグループに属する前記カラムラインに対応して備えられた前記充電スイッチと接続され、ターンオンされている前記充電スイッチを介して、前記カラムラインに対して、該当カラムラインに接続される前記画素を予備充電するための充電電圧を順次印加する電圧維持回路と
を含むことを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記電圧維持回路は、赤色(R)、緑色(G)、青色(B)、白色(W)をそれぞれ発光する画素に接続されたカラムラインに対応して4つ備えられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記電圧維持回路は、赤色(R)、緑色(G)、青色(B)をそれぞれ発光する画素に接続されたカラムラインに対応して3つ備えられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記電圧維持回路は、所定の電圧を維持する定電圧素子と前記定電圧素子に並列に接続された静電容量から構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記電圧維持回路により維持された所定の電圧は、前記有機電界発光素子のブラックレベルに対応する電圧であることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記定電圧素子は、ツェナーダイオードであることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記電圧維持回路は、前記充電電流を印加するための所定の電圧を発生させる定電圧源から構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記駆動期間は、
前記第1駆動電流が印加される第1期間と、
前記第2駆動電流が印加される第2期間と、
前記駆動電流が印加されない第3期間と、
前記第2駆動電流が所定の間隔で繰り返し印加される第4期間と
を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記走査駆動部は、
ハイレベルを供給する第1走査電圧源と、
前記第1走査電圧源に電気的に接続されて前記ローラインに前記ハイレベルを伝達する第1走査スイッチ素子と、
ローレベルを供給する第2走査電圧源と、
前記第2走査電圧源に電気的に接続されて前記ローラインに前記ローレベルを伝達する第2走査スイッチ素子とを備え、
前記駆動期間の間に、前記第2走査スイッチ素子がターンオンされ、前記第1走査スイッチ素子はターンオフされることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記各グループにおいて、それぞれのグループに属するカラムラインの何れかのカラムラインに前記駆動電流が印加される間に、他のカラムラインには前記駆動電流が印加されないことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- データ信号を印加する複数のカラムラインと、走査信号を印加する複数のローラインと、前記カラムラインと前記ローラインとの交差領域に形成される1つ以上の画素である有機電界発光素子を含む有機電界発光表示装置を駆動する有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法において、
前記カラムラインを複数のグループにグループ化し、前記各グループに属するカラムラインのそれぞれに対して、前記走査信号が印加される駆動期間内に、共通電流源から出力されるデータ信号に相応する駆動電流のうち、第1駆動電流と前記第1駆動電流よりも大きさが小さい第2駆動電流とを順次印加し、次いで如何なる電流も印加しない期間を経て、再び前記第2駆動電流を印加することを前記駆動期間が終了するまで断続的に繰り返す段階と、
前記グループ毎に、それぞれのグループに属する前記カラムラインに対して、前記駆動電流が時分割にそれぞれ印加される前に、該当カラムラインに接続される前記画素を予備充電するための充電電圧を順次印加する段階と
を含むことを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記駆動期間は、
第1駆動電流が印加される第1期間と、
前記第2駆動電流が印加される第2期間と、
前記駆動電流が印加されない第3期間と、
前記第2駆動電流が所定の間隔で繰り返し印加される第4期間と
を含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記第1期間の前に前記第2駆動電流が更に印加されることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記第1駆動電流及び第2駆動電流の大きさは、前記各画素に応じて可変されることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記各グループにおいて、それぞれのグループに属するカラムラインの何れかのカラムラインに前記駆動電流が印加される間に、他のカラムラインには前記駆動電流が印加されないことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
