Description
条件(1):前記カーボン微粒子の平均粒子径が0.07〜0.2μm、粒子径1μm以上の前記カーボン微粒子の含有割合が、個数で0.1%以下、前記カーボン微粒子の濃度が10mg/m3である。

○:若干の目詰まりがあるが、実使用可能
×:目詰まりにより実使用不可能
タルク、カオリン、仮焼カオリン、アルミナ、水酸化アルミニウム、及びシリカのうちから複数を組み合わせて、その化学組成が、SiO242〜56質量%、Al2O30〜45質量%、及びMgO12〜16質量%となるように所定の割合で調合されたコージェライト化原料100質量部に対して、造孔剤としてグラファイトを12〜25質量部、及び合成樹脂を5〜15質量部を添加した。更に、メチルセルロース類、及び界面活性剤をそれぞれ適当量添加した後、水を加えて混練することにより杯土を調製した。調製した杯土を真空脱気した後、押出成形することによりハニカム成形体を得た。得られたハニカム成形体を乾燥後、最高温度1400〜1430℃の温度範囲で焼成することにより、ハニカム焼成体を得た。得られたハニカム焼成体のセルのいずれかの端部に、市松模様状となるように目封止剤を詰めて再度焼成することにより、表1に示す隔壁の細孔構造を有する、直径144mm、全長152mmのハニカム構造体(参考例1〜24、比較例1,2)を作製した。作製したハニカム構造体のカーボン微粒子通過個数率の測定結果を表1に示す。なお、隔壁の細孔構造は、コージェライト化原料の化学組成、造孔剤の粒子径、造孔剤の添加量等を適宜調整することにより調整した。また、目封止部の目封止深さは、端面から10mmであった。
コージェライト化原料の化学組成、造孔剤の粒子径、造孔剤の添加量等を適宜調整したこと以外は、前述の参考例1〜24、比較例1、2の場合と同様にして、表2に示す隔壁の細孔構造を有する、直径144mm、全長152mmのハニカム構造体(参考例25)を作製した。作製したハニカム構造体のカーボン微粒子通過個数率の測定結果を表2に示す。
コージェライト化原料の化学組成、造孔剤の粒子径、造孔剤の添加量等を適宜調整したこと、及び全体として同一の細孔径を有する隔壁を備えたハニカム構造体を予め作製し、その後、より粒径の小さい原料で調製したスラリーに両端部の隔壁を浸漬することによって両端部の隔壁にスラリーを含浸させたこと以外は、前述の参考例1〜24、比較例1、2の場合と同様にして、表2に示す隔壁の細孔構造を有する、直径144mm、全長152mmのハニカム構造体(実施例1,2)を作製した。作製したハニカム構造体のカーボン微粒子通過個数率の測定結果を表2に示す。
貴金属として白金(Pt)を含有し、活性アルミナ、及び酸素吸蔵剤としてのセリアを更に含有する触媒スラリーを調製した。吸引法により、参考例1〜24、比較例1、2のハニカム構造体の隔壁内表面、及び細孔内表面に、調製した触媒スラリーのコート層を形成した。次いで、加熱乾燥することにより、表3に示す隔壁(触媒層つき)の細孔構造を有するハニカム触媒体(参考例26〜43、比較例3,4)を作製した。作製したハニカム触媒体のカーボン微粒子通過個数率の測定結果を表3に示す。なお、ハニカム構造体(担体)1リットルあたりの貴金属(Pt)の量は2gであった。また、ハニカム構造体(担体)1リットルあたりの触媒スラリーのコート量は100gであった。
参考例25、実施例1,2のハニカム構造体の隔壁内表面、及び細孔内表面に触媒スラリーのコート層を形成したこと以外は、前述の参考例26〜43、比較例3,4の場合と同様にして、表4に示す隔壁(触媒層つき)の細孔構造を有するハニカム触媒体(参考例44、実施例3,4)を作製した。作製したハニカム触媒体のカーボン微粒子通過個数率の測定結果を表4に示す。
参考例44と同様にしてハニカム触媒体(参考例45,46、比較例5,6)を作製した。作製したハニカム触媒体の等価直径Dと全長Lとの比(L/D)を表6に示す。
表1〜5に示すように、参考例1〜18のハニカム構造体を用いて作製した参考例26〜43のハニカム触媒体は、比較例3,4のハニカム触媒体に比して、浄化指数が高く、優れた浄化性能を示すものであることが明らかである。また、参考例26〜43のハニカム触媒体は、比較例3,4のハニカム触媒体と比較した場合に、圧損上昇がなく、圧損増加率が低く、更には長期耐目詰まりについても良好であることが明らかである。
Claims (9)
- 二つの端面間を連通する複数のセルが形成されるように配置された、多数の細孔を有する多孔質の隔壁と、
前記セルをいずれかの前記端面において目封止するように配置された目封止部と、を備えたハニカム構造体であって、
下記条件(1)を満たす燃焼排ガスに含まれるカーボン微粒子の通過個数率が、空間速度25000/hで、80%以上であり、
前記隔壁の画像最大距離平均が43μm以上であり、
前記隔壁の、前記セルの長さ方向の両端部の画像最大距離平均が、前記セルの長さ方向の中央部の画像最大距離平均の80%以下であるハニカム構造体。
条件(1):前記カーボン微粒子の平均粒子径が0.07〜0.2μm、粒子径1μm以上の前記カーボン微粒子の含有割合が、個数で0.1%以下、前記カーボン微粒子の濃度が10mg/m3である。 - 前記隔壁の画像最大距離平均が43μm以上であり、
前記隔壁の、前記セルの長さ方向の両端部の画像最大距離平均が、前記セルの長さ方向の中央部の画像最大距離平均の60%以下である請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記セルの連通方向の長さ(L)と等価直径(D)との比(L/D)が0.3以上、0.75未満である請求項1又は2に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記隔壁の厚さが0.3〜0.43mmであり、セル密度が4〜46.5個/cm2であり、前記隔壁の画像最大距離平均が250〜500μmであり、前記隔壁の気孔率が55〜65%である請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記隔壁の画像最大距離平均が、250〜3000μmである請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体と、
前記ハニカム構造体の前記隔壁の、少なくとも前記細孔の内表面に層状に担持された、触媒を含有する触媒層と、を備えるとともに、
前記ハニカム構造体の前記隔壁に多数の触媒層担持細孔が形成されてなり、
下記条件(1)を満たす燃焼排ガスに含まれるカーボン微粒子の通過個数率が、空間速度25000/hで、80%以上であるハニカム触媒体。
条件(1):前記カーボン微粒子の平均粒子径が0.07〜0.2μm、粒子径1μm以上の前記カーボン微粒子の含有割合が、個数で0.1%以下、前記カーボン微粒子の濃度が10mg/m 3 である。 - 前記触媒層が担持された状態における前記隔壁の画像最大距離平均が40μm以上であり、
前記触媒層が担持された状態における前記隔壁の、前記セルの長さ方向の両端部の画像最大距離平均が、
前記セルの長さ方向の中央部の画像最大距離平均の80%以下である請求項6に記載のハニカム触媒体。 - 前記触媒層が担持された状態における前記隔壁の画像最大距離平均が40μm以上であり、
前記触媒層が担持された状態における前記隔壁の、前記セルの長さ方向の両端部の画像最大距離平均が、前記セルの長さ方向の中央部の画像最大距離平均の60%以下である請求項6に記載のハニカム触媒体。 - 前記セルの連通方向の長さ(L)と等価直径(D)との比(L/D)が0.3以上、0.75未満であり、前記隔壁の厚さが0.3〜0.43mmであり、セル密度が4〜46.5個/cm2であり、前記隔壁の画像最大距離平均が250〜500μmであり、前記隔壁の気孔率が60〜80%であり、前記隔壁の細孔径分布の常用対数標準偏差(細孔径分布σ)が0.2〜0.6である請求項6〜8のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム触媒体。
