Description
1) レンズの光軸に沿う断面をとったときに、そのレンズの断面形状を円錐曲線で表すことができるとき、そのレンズは「コニック形状を有する」と云う。
2) レンズの光軸に沿う断面をとったときに、そのレンズの断面形状が三角形となるとき、そのレンズは「円錐形状を有する」、あるいは「円錐表面を有する」と云う。
物体側の面155及び像側の面160を含むレンズ135は、例えばポリエーテルイミド(PEI)等のポリマーを、ダイアモンド旋削処理することにより形成された金型のキャビティ中へと射出することにより成形出来る。好適なポリマーの1つは、General Electric Companyが販売する非晶質熱可塑性PEI樹脂のUltem(登録商標)である。Ultem(登録商標)は、850nm及び1300nm波長において高い透過係数を持っており、光レシーバ、トランスミッタ、及びトランシーバモジュールにおける利用に好適である。Ultem(登録商標)は約215℃の高いガラス転移温度を持ち、製造においてモジュールの高温はんだ処理や他の高温処理が可能である。レンズ135はまた、好適な光学特性を持つ他の材料(他のポリマー又はガラス等)を使って射出成形、研磨又は他の処理により製造することが出来る。

Claims (8)
- 前記レンズの前記物体側の面の形状が凸形であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光レシーバ。
- 前記像側の面のうち前記重ね合わせた式により定義される形状の面が、このレンズの光軸を中心として前記物体側の面の直径よりも小さい部分に絞られていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の光レシーバ。
- 前記物体側の面の軸と前記像側の面の軸とが互いに交差し、
前記レンズが、前記物体側の面で受けた光の向きを変えて前記像側の面へと向ける、前記物体側の面と前記像側の面との間に配置された傾斜面を更に含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の光レシーバ。 - ハウジングを更に具備し、前記ハウジングが少なくとも前記レンズを支持するものであり、前記ハウジングが前記フォトデテクタ及び光ファイバを前記レンズに対して相対的に位置決めする形状的特徴を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の光レシーバ。
- 特定の光ファイバに対応する前記レンズ、前記光ファイバを介して受光するものとして想定される光、ならびに前記ハウジングにより前記光ファイバ及び前記フォトデテクタが前記レンズに対して配置される位置、によって生じる反射減衰を緩和するように、前記レンズの表面が最適化されていることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の光レシーバ。
- 前記レンズの表面が合成ポリマー材料中にモールディングされたものであることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1つに記載の光レシーバ。
- 前記ポリマー材料がポリエーテルイミドを含むものであることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の光レシーバ。
