Description
本実施形態に即して、より具体的に述べると、電流制御部53は、黒挿入処理の許可時には、その禁止時よりも、その生成する電圧信号(延いては基準電圧Va)の電圧レベルを高めに設定する構成とされている。

Claims (6)
- 表示パネルを照射するLEDの点消灯制御を行うLEDドライバであって、
前記LEDの駆動電流を生成する電流源と;前記表示パネルにおける画面表示処理の同期を取るためのフレーム同期信号から、1フレーム中の黒挿入期間を定めるための黒挿入信号を生成する黒挿入制御部と;を有して成り、
前記電流源は、第1入力端に印加される電圧と第2入力端に印加される基準電圧を比較するオペアンプと;前記オペアンプの比較結果に応じて前記LEDに第1電流を供給する第1トランジスタと;前記オペアンプの比較結果に応じて第2電流を出力する第2トランジスタと;第1電流に応じてその電圧レベルが変動する第1帰還電圧を生成する第1抵抗と;第2電流に応じてその電圧レベルが変動する第2帰還電圧を生成する第2抵抗と;前記黒挿入信号に基づいて、前記オペアンプの比較結果を第1トランジスタへ出力するか、或いは、所定の電圧を第1トランジスタへ出力して第1トランジスタをオフ状態とするかを切り替える第1スイッチと;前記黒挿入信号に基づいて、前記オペアンプの比較結果を第2トランジスタへ出力するか、或いは、所定の電圧を第2トランジスタへ出力して第2トランジスタをオフ状態とするかを切り替える第2スイッチと;前記黒挿入信号に基づいて、第1〜第2帰還電圧のいずれを前記オペアンプの第1入力端に出力するかを切り替える第3スイッチと;を有して成り、前記黒挿入信号に基づいて前記黒挿入期間だけ前記LEDに対する駆動電流の供給を停止することを特徴とするLEDドライバ。 - 前記黒挿入制御部は、前記フレーム同期信号のうち、フレーム垂直方向の同期を取るための垂直同期信号に対して、前記黒挿入期間に相当する遅延を与える遅延回路と;前記垂直同期信号と前記遅延回路の出力信号を各々入力トリガとするSRフリップフロップと;を有して成り、前記SRフリップフロップの出力信号を前記黒挿入信号として出力することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLEDドライバ。
- 前記黒挿入制御部は、黒挿入処理の可否を制御するためのイネーブル信号に応じて、前記黒挿入処理の許可時には、前記SRフリップフロップの出力信号をそのまま通過させる一方、前記黒挿入処理の禁止時には、前記SRフリップフロップの出力信号をマスクする論理演算回路を有して成ることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のLEDドライバ。
- 前記駆動電流の電流量を設定するための電流量制御信号に応じてその電圧レベルが変動する電圧信号を生成し、当該電圧信号を前記基準電圧として前記電流源に供給する電流制御部を有して成ることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のLEDドライバ。
- 前記電流制御部は、黒挿入処理の可否を制御するためのイネーブル信号に応じて、前記黒挿入処理の許可時には、その禁止時よりも前記駆動電流の電流量を高めるように、前記電圧信号の電圧レベルを設定することを特徴とする請求項4に記載のLEDドライバ。
- 表示パネルと、前記表示パネルを照射するLEDと、前記LEDの点消灯制御を行う請求項1〜請求項5のいずれかに記載のLEDドライバと、を有して成ることを特徴とする表示装置。
