前記NOx触媒の下流側に配置されたNOxセンサと、
前記内燃機関のリーン空燃比運転中に排気ガスの空燃比を一時的にリッチまたは理論空燃比とするリッチスパイクを行うリッチスパイク手段と、
前記NOxセンサの出力を、リッチスパイク終了時付近の期間を含む期間において積算することによりNOxセンサ出力積算値を算出する算出手段と、
前記NOxセンサ出力積算値に基づいて、前記NOx触媒の劣化を診断する診断手段と、
を備えることを特徴とする。
前記NOxセンサは、NH3を検出する機能を併有するものであることを特徴とする。
前記NOxセンサは、限界電流式NOxセンサであることを特徴とする。
前記リッチスパイク終了時付近の期間は、前記NOxセンサの出力が一時的に急増する期間であることを特徴とする。
前記リッチスパイクにより前記NOx触媒へ流入した還元剤量を算出する還元剤量算出手段を更に備え、
前記リッチスパイク手段は、前記還元剤量が所定量に達したら、リッチスパイクを終了することを特徴とする。
前記リッチスパイクにより前記NOx触媒に流入した還元剤量を算出する還元剤量算出手段を更に備え、
前記診断手段は、前記NOxセンサ出力積算値と、前記還元剤量とに基づいて、前記NOx触媒の劣化を診断することを特徴とする。
前記リッチスパイクによる還元時間を計時する還元時間計時手段を更に備え、
前記診断手段は、前記NOxセンサ出力積算値と、前記還元時間とに基づいて、前記NOx触媒の劣化を診断することを特徴とする。
[システム構成の説明]
図1は、本発明の実施の形態1のシステム構成を説明するための図である。図1に示すシステムは、内燃機関10を備えている。図示の内燃機関10は、#1〜#4の4つの気筒を備えた直列4気筒型のものであるが、本発明では、気筒数および気筒配置はこれに限定されるものではない。
(1)リッチスパイク実行時の運転条件(機関回転数NE、スロットル開度TH、吸入空気量GA等)が所定の範囲内にあること。
(2)リッチスパイク実行時のNOx触媒18の温度TCATが所定の範囲内にあること。

還元剤量=(NOx触媒18への流入燃料量
−NOx触媒18への流入空気量/14.6)

上述した各実施の形態においては、NOx触媒18の上流にA/Fセンサ24が設置され、NOx触媒18の下流にO2センサ26が設置されたシステムを例に説明したが、本発明におけるシステム構成はこれに限定されるものではない。例えば、以下に説明するように変形することも可能である。

Claims (6)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に配置された吸蔵還元型のNOx触媒の劣化を診断する装置であって、
前記NOx触媒の下流側に配置されたNOxセンサと、
前記内燃機関のリーン空燃比運転中に排気ガスの空燃比を一時的にリッチまたは理論空燃比とするリッチスパイクを行うリッチスパイク手段と、
前記NOxセンサの出力を、リッチスパイク終了時を含む期間において積算することによりNOxセンサ出力積算値を算出する算出手段と、
前記NOxセンサ出力積算値に基づいて、前記NOx触媒の劣化を診断する診断手段と、
前記リッチスパイクにより前記NOx触媒に流入した還元剤量を算出する還元剤量算出手段と、
を備え、
前記診断手段は、前記NOxセンサ出力積算値と、前記還元剤量とに基づいて、前記NOx触媒の劣化を診断することを特徴とする触媒劣化診断装置。 - 内燃機関の排気通路に配置された吸蔵還元型のNOx触媒の劣化を診断する装置であって、
前記NOx触媒の下流側に配置されたNOxセンサと、

前記診断手段は、前記NOxセンサ出力積算値と、前記還元時間とに基づいて、前記NOx触媒の劣化を診断することを特徴とする触媒劣化診断装置。 - 前記NOxセンサは、NH3を検出する機能を併有するものであることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の触媒劣化診断装置。
- 前記NOxセンサは、限界電流式NOxセンサであることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3の何れか1項記載の触媒劣化診断装置。
- 前記期間は、前記NOxセンサの出力が一時的に急増する期間を含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至4の何れか1項記載の触媒劣化診断装置。
- 前記リッチスパイクにより前記NOx触媒へ流入した還元剤量を算出する還元剤量算出手段を更に備え、
前記リッチスパイク手段は、前記還元剤量が所定量に達したら、リッチスパイクを終了することを特徴とする請求項1乃至5の何れか1項記載の触媒劣化診断装置。
