Description
この従来のMVA方式の液晶表示パネルの画素構成を図5及び図6を用いて説明する。なお、図5は従来のMVA方式の液晶表示パネル70の画素の平面図であり、図6は図5のC−C線に沿った断面図である。
そして、TFT16の表面及びゲート絶縁膜12の表面には全体にわたって透明な絶縁膜32及び層間絶縁膜33が設けられ、セルギャップを一定にするために表面が平坦となされている。なお、反射部に位置する層間絶縁膜33の表面は、指向性をなくした拡散反射光を得るために、表面が僅かな凹凸状態となっており、この反射部の層間絶縁膜33の表面には、銀、アルミニウム等の反射率の高い金属からなる反射電極34が設けられ、この反射電極34の表面及び透過部の層間絶縁膜33の表面にはITO等の透明な導電性部材からなる画素電極15が設けられている。そして、画素電極15の表面及びスリット17には垂直配向処理された配向膜18で被覆されている。なお、反射部の画素電極15とTFT16のドレイン電極Dとはコンタクトホール35により電気的に接続されている。
スリット17は、突起23の中間に位置するように、透過部の画素電極15の中心部に形成されており、この例では、太めのYの文字と逆Yの文字とを上下対象になるように組み合わせた例である。

Claims (4)
- 第一及び第二の基板からなる一対の基板において、前記第一基板上にマトリクス状に配置された信号線及び走査線により区画される位置に反射部と透過部とが形成されると共に、前記一対の基板上各々に積層された垂直配向処理を施した配向膜と、前記一対の基板間に配置された誘電率異方性が負の液晶層とを有し、前記液晶層に電界を印加しないときは液晶分子が垂直配列し、前記液晶層に電界を印加したときは前記一対の基板上各々に形成される配向規制手段によって規制される方向に液晶分子が傾斜して配列する半透過型液晶表示パネルにおいて、
前記反射部及び前記透過部における前記第一基板上には、前記液晶層に電界を印加する画素電極が形成されており、
前記反射部における前記第一基板上には、補助容量電極を用いて補助容量が形成されており、
前記配向規制手段は、前記反射部において前記第二基板上に形成されており、前記透過部において前記第一基板上に形成されており、
前記透過部において前記第一基板上に形成された前記配向規制手段は、前記透過部の前記画素電極の中心部に形成されたスリットであり、
前記反射部において前記第二基板上に形成された前記配向規制手段は、前記反射部の中心部に形成された突起である、

請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示パネル。 - 前記透過部の周辺には、平面視の際に前記信号線に重なる位置に突起からなる配向規制手段が形成されている、
請求項1または2に記載の半透過型液晶表示パネル。 - 前記反射部と前記透過部において、前記液晶層の厚さが異なる、
請求項1から3の何れか1項に記載の半透過型液晶表示パネル。
