Claims (3)
- 能動素子基板と、この能動素子基板上に配置された対向基板と、前記能動素子基板と前記対向基板との間に配置された液晶層と、を有し、前記能動素子基板は、基板と、この基板上に配置され前記基板の表面に平行な第1の方向に延びる部分及び前記基板の表面に平行であり前記第1の方向とは異なる第2の方向に延びる部分を備えた配線と、この配線を覆うように配置され前記第1の方向に延びる部分及び前記第2の方向に延びる部分を備えた凸形状の絶縁膜と、この絶縁膜上に配置され前記第1の方向に延びる部分及び前記第2の方向に延びる部分を備えた電極と、この電極上に配置され前記液晶層を配向させる配向膜と、を有し、前記対向基板は、前記絶縁膜の直上域の全てを含み且つ前記電極の直上域の内部に位置する領域に形成され、交互に配列された前記第1の方向に延びる部分と前記第2の方向に延びる部分とからなり、前記配向膜のうちラビング処理時にラビングが不十分となる部分を完全に覆うことができる遮光層を有することを特徴とする横電界型液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1の方向が前記配向膜のラビング方向に対して一定の角度をなして傾斜した方向であり、前記第2の方向が前記ラビング方向に対して前記第1の方向とは反対側に前記一定の角度と同じ大きさの角度をなして傾斜した方向であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の横電界型液晶表示装置。
- ノーマリーブラック型であることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の横電界型液晶表示装置。
