Description
Claims (13)
- 複数の画像素子を有する表示装置であって、前記画像素子の各々は、第1の透明な支持板(3)と第2の支持板(4)の間における該画像素子の空間内に、相互に不混和性の、少なくとも第1の流体(5)と第2の流体(6)を有しており、
前記第2の流体は、電気伝導性または極性があり、前記第1の流体は、前記空間に閉じ込められ、前記第2の流体は、前記複数の画像素子間で共有されており、
前記画像素子は、
少なくとも一つの前記支持板上の表面領域であって、前記第2の流体に対する濡れ性の低い表面領域(8)と、
前記第2の流体に対する濡れ性の高い表面領域であって、隣り合う前記画像素子の前記濡れ性の低い表面領域の間に配置された表面領域(13a、13’)と、
を有している、表示装置。 - 前記濡れ性の低い表面領域が、複数の前記濡れ性の高い表面領域によって囲まれている、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1の流体は、前記濡れ性の低い表面領域の縁部に接している、請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1の流体は、前記濡れ性の低い表面領域および前記濡れ性の高い表面領域に接している、請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。
- 複数の前記濡れ性の高い表面領域(13a)が、複数の壁(13)に設置されている、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1の流体は前記壁の一つに接している、請求項5に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第2の流体と前記一つの支持板上の電極との間に印加される電圧を切り替える電気式切り替え手段をさらに備える、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記壁の下側部分は、前記第2の流体に対する濡れ性が低い、請求項5〜7のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
- 前記壁は、最大20μmの高さを有することを特徴とする請求項5〜8のいずれかに記載の表示装置。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の表示装置を製作する方法であって、
前記一つの支持板の少なくとも一部を、レーザー放射線、UVオゾン処理または酸素プラズマ処理によって、前記第2の流体に対して高い濡れ性とする工程を含んでいる、方法。 - 前記一つの支持板には、成形法によって、壁が設けられる、請求項10に記載の表示装置を製作する方法。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の表示装置を製作する方法であって、前記一つの支持板の前記濡れ性の高い部分は、印刷処理法によって形成される方法。
- 前記一つの支持板は、反応性イオンエッチング法によって予備処理されることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
