Description
これらの現像法に使用できるトナーとしては、従来、天然あるいは合成樹脂中に染料または顔料を分散させた微粉体が使用されている。例えばポリスチレン等の結着樹脂中に着色剤を分散させたものを5〜15μm程度に微粉砕した粒子がトナーとして用いられている。また、磁性トナーとしては、マグネタイト等の磁性体粒子を含有させたものが用いられている。
中心金属が鉄であるモノアゾ鉄錯塩化合物を電荷制御剤として使用したトナーが開示され(例えば、特許文献2参照)、中心金属としてクロムを使用しない負帯電性の電荷制御剤としては、実用的な帯電量を有しているものもある。
2:1型鉄錯塩化合物として、一般式[1]の式中、A=5−Cl基、B=水素原子、X=CH3基、Y=無置換フェニル基、J=水素イオン(一般式[3]の式中、X=CH3基、CおよびDが水素原子、J=水素イオン)であるものを選定した。この中に、不純物として一般式[2]の式中、A=5−Cl基、B=水素原子、X=CH3基、Y=無置換フェニル基(一般式[4]の式中、X=CH3基、CおよびDが水素原子)としたモノアゾ化合物を、その含有量が0.9質量%となるように調製して、2:1型鉄錯塩化合物を3種類用意した。カーボンブラック5部、スチレンアクリル系合成樹脂(三井化学社製、商品名CPR−200)を下記[表1]の割合で配合し、十分混合後、加熱溶融混練させ、冷却後常法で粉砕分級し、体積平均粒径9±0.5μmの負帯電性トナーを得た。このトナーをシリコンコートキャリア(パウダーテック社製、商品名:F96−100)と4対100質量部の割合で混合振とうし、トナーを負に帯電させた後、ブローオフ帯電量測定装置で測定した。この場合、一般式[1]の2:1型鉄錯塩化合物中における、一般式[2]のモノアゾ化合物の含有量βが0.9質量wt%で、トナー中への一般式[1]の2:1型鉄錯塩化合物の添加量αが1質量%であるので、α×β=0.9となる。
一般式[1]の2:1型鉄錯塩化合物中の一般式[2]のモノアゾ化合物含有量βを5.3質量%とし、トナー中への一般式[1]の2:1型鉄錯塩化合物の添加量αを2質量%とし、その他は実施例1と同様の方法でトナーを調製し、ブローオフ帯電量測定装置で測定した。この場合α×β=10.6となる。
一般式[1]の2:1型鉄錯塩化合物中の一般式[2]のモノアゾ化合物含有量βを5.3質量%とし、トナー中への一般式[1]の2:1型鉄錯塩化合物の添加量αを3質量%とし、その他は実施例1と同様の方法でトナーを調製し、ブローオフ帯電量測定装置で測定した。この場合α×β=15.9となる。
(qmax−q)/(qmax−q0)=exp(−t/τ)
ここで、qmaxは飽和帯電量、q0は初期帯電量(ここでは帯電時間30秒のときの値)、tが各測定時間であり、そのときの帯電量がqである。
帯電の立ち上がりのよいものは、時定数がより小さな値となる。時定数の単位は秒である。
帯電量測定は、各環境下に24時間暴露した現像剤を、その環境においたままで十分に帯電させ、飽和帯電量をブローオフ帯電量測定装置により測定した。
2つの環境で帯電量の変動が20%未満であるものを良好(○)、20%を超えるものを不良(×)とした。結果を[表1]に示した。
