Description
図を参照して第1実施形態に係る電気化学デバイス用電極10について説明する。この電気化学デバイス用電極10は、集電体12、活物質を含有する活物質層13A、13C、及び、リード15を主として備える。
続いて、図2を参照して、第2実施形態に係る電気化学デバイス用電極10について説明する。本実施形態にかかる電気化学デバイス用電極10が、第1実施形態にかかる電気化学デバイス用電極と異なる点は、リード15の形状であるのでこの点のみ説明する。第2実施形態に係るリード15は、端面15dが、集電体12の側面12dまで突出しておらず、集電体12の表面12e上に位置する点である。このような電気化学デバイス用電極10においても、第1実施形態と同様の作用効果を奏する。
続いて、図3を参照して、第3実施形態に係る電気化学デバイス用電極10について説明する。本実施形態にかかる電気化学デバイス用電極10が、第1実施形態にかかる電気化学デバイス用電極と異なる点は、リード15の形状であるのでこの点のみ説明する。第2実施形態に係るリード15は、集電体12の表面又は裏面に設けられているのではなく、集電体12の側面12dに設けられている。これにより、活物質層13Aは、活物質層13Cと同様に分割されずに一体となっている。このようなリード15は、集電体1とリード15とを一枚の導電性板から切り出すことにより容易に形成できる。このような電気化学デバイス用電極10においても、第1実施形態と同様の作用効果を奏する。
続いて、図4を参照して、第4実施形態に係る電気化学デバイス用電極10について説明する。本実施形態にかかる電気化学デバイス用電極10は、第1実施形態の電気化学デバイス用電極10に比べて集電体12の長手方向の長さが長くなっている。そして、リード15が集電体12の長手方向に離間してn個設けられている。ここで、nは2以上の整数である。ここで、n個のリードを図5の左側から順に、151、152、…、15nと呼ぶ。なお、距離La、Lbについては、第1実施形態と同様に定義されると共に、第1実施形態と同様の範囲に規定されている。好ましいnの個数は、例えば、n=4程度である。
続いて、図5、及び、図6を参照して、上述の電極10を用いた電気化学デバイスについて説明する。ここでは、第1実施形態の電気化学デバイス用電極を用いた場合について説明するが、他の実施形態の電気化学デバイス用電極を用いても同様である。
活物質として活性炭粒子を、バインダとしてPVDFを用い、活物質:バインダ=70:30となるようにこれらを混合し、得られた混合物にN−メチルピロリドンを加えて混練することにより、塗料を調製した。この塗料をドクターブレード法で30μmのアルミ箔の両面上に、リード設置予定領域以外の部分に塗布した後、塗膜を乾燥させた。次いで、塗膜が形成されたアルミ箔を長方形状に打ち抜き、幅Aが2mm、長さ25mm、厚み0.1mmのリードを図1のように集電体の未塗布部に超音波溶接し、電気二重層キャパシタ用の一対の電極を得た。各実施例、比較例において、集電体の長手方向の長さL0、集電体各端部からリードまでの距離La、Lbは、それぞれ図7となるように設定した。また、集電体の幅W0は10mmとした。
集電体材料として、アルミ箔に変えて、厚み17μmの銅箔を用い、L0、La、Lbを図7のように設定した以外は、実施例1と同様にして電気二重層キャパシタを得た。
カソード電極を以下の手順により作製した。まず、正極活物質としてLiCoO2、導電助剤としてアセチレンブラック、結着剤としてポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVdF)を用意し、これらの重量比が正極活物質:導電助剤:結着剤=90:6:4となるようにプラネタリーミキサで混合分散した後、これに溶媒としてのNMPを適量混合して粘度調整し、スラリー状のカソード用塗布液(スラリー)を調整した。
各実施例及び各比較例の電気二重層キャパシタ及びリチウムイオン二次電池について、インピーダンス及び漏れ電流を測定した。それぞれの値を図7に示す。なお、電気2重層キャパシタについては、インピーダンスは放電状態のものを測定し、漏れ電流は4Vで1時間充電後のものについて測定した。リチウムイオン二次電池については、インピーダンスは3Vまで放電後の状態のものを測定し、漏れ電流は4Vで1時間充電後のものを測定した。

- 細長い集電体と、前記集電体の長手方向の途中に設けられたリードと、前記集電体に設けられた活物質層と、を備え、
前記集電体の長手方向の一端からリードまでの距離をLa[m]、
前記集電体の長手方向の他端からリードまでの距離をLb[m]、
前記集電体の25℃における抵抗率をρ[Ωm]、
Lopt[m]=1.9×106ρとした時に、
La及びLbが、それぞれ0.95Lopt以上1.05Lopt以下である電気化学デバイス用電極。 - 細長い集電体と、互いに前記集電体の長手方向に離間して前記集電体に設けられたn個(nは2以上の整数)のリードと、前記集電体に設けられた活物質層と、を備え、
前記集電体の長手方向の一端から、前記集電体の前記一端に最も近いリードまでの距離をLa[m]、
前記集電体の長手方向の他端から、前記集電体の前記他端に最も近いリードまでの距離をLb[m]、
隣り合う前記リード間の距離をそれぞれL1、L2、...、Ln−1[m]、
前記集電体の25℃における抵抗率をρ[Ωm]、
Lopt[m]=1.9×106ρとした時に、
La及びLbが、それぞれ0.95Lopt以上1.05Lopt以下であり、
(L1/2)、(L2/2)、...、(Ln−1/2)が、それぞれ0.95Lopt以上1.05Lopt以下である電気化学デバイス用電極。 - 一対の電極を備え、いずれの電極とも請求項1又は2の電気化学デバイス用電極である電気化学デバイス。
