Description
(a)水、
(b)(ポリマーラテックスのような)基剤媒体(base medium)、
(c)亜鉛酸化物、水酸化亜鉛、亜鉛の塩類及びそれらの組み合わせより成る群から選ばれる亜鉛化合物、及び
(d)ピリチオン亜鉛以外のピリチオンの塩(好ましくは、ピリチオンナトリウム)単独、又はその組成物中に、総量として、その組成物に缶内及び乾燥塗膜・抗菌効力を与えるのに十分な量で存在する、上記ピリチオン塩と亜鉛ピリチオンとの組み合わせ
を含んで成る上記水性被覆組成物に関する。
(a)上記被覆組成物を、この組成物に微生物の攻撃に対する缶内防腐性を付与するのに十分な量の、ピリチオン亜鉛以外のピリチオン塩(好ましくは、ピリチオンナトリウム)と接触させ、そして
(b)上記組成物を亜鉛酸化物、水酸化亜鉛、亜鉛の塩類及びそれらの組み合わせより成る群から選ばれる亜鉛化合物と接触させ、そしてその亜鉛化合物の少なくとも一部を上記ピリチオンナトリウムの少なくとも一部と反応させ、それによってピリチオンナトリウムをその被覆組成物に乾燥塗膜抗菌有効性を付与するのに十分な量のピリチオン亜鉛に転化させる
工程を含んで成る上記の方法に関する。
(a)水性被覆組成物中の20℃での溶解度が少なくとも4,000ppmである、抗菌作用上有効な量の可溶性ピリチオン塩をその水性組成物に配合し、
(b)上記被覆組成物に(金属塩のような)金属イオン含有化合物を配合してその金属イオン含有化合物の少なくとも一部を上記可溶性ピリチオン塩の少なくとも一部とキレート交換反応させ(transchelate)、それによってピリチオン金属含有被覆組成物を形成させ、ここでそのピリチオン金属の上記被覆組成物中溶解度は100ppm未満であり、
(c)基体上にピリチオン金属含有コーティングを形成させるために、上記ピリチオン金属含有被覆組成物をその基体と接触させ、そして
(d)上記基体上のピリチオン金属含有コーティングを乾燥させてその基体上に浸出抵抗性で、抗菌作用上有効な量の上記ピリチオン金属を含有する乾燥塗膜を形成させる
工程を含んで成る上記の方法に関する。

ピリチオンナトリウムの“缶内”防腐剤としての効力
試料1は1.25重量%の酸化Znを含み;試料2は1.25重量%の酸化
Znと1800ppmのピリチオンNaを含み;試料3は2.5重量%の酸化
Znを含み;そして試料4は2.5重量%の酸化Znと1800ppmのピリチオンNaを含む。表において、“+”は“増殖あり”を示し、“−”は“増殖なし”を示す。
3ポンド/100ガロン、4ポンド/100ガロン、6ポンド/100ガロンのピリチオンナトリウム及び25ポンド/100ガロンの酸化亜鉛を含むペイントの、フロリダ州(Florida)、マイアミ(Miami)で南向き45°と北向き垂直で試験したときの、その各試験素材に対する6カ月の曝露後に受けた評価等級は全て完全等級の10(白かびの増殖なし)であった。
Claims (5)
- 基体に被覆組成物を塗布して該基体に抗菌有効性を示すコーティングを与える方法にして、次の:
(a)該被覆組成物中の20℃における溶解度が少なくとも4,000ppmである、該被覆組成物の重量基準で0.01〜0.5重量%の可溶性ピリチオン塩を該被覆組成物に配合し、
(b)該被覆組成物に金属イオン含有化合物をその組成物の重量基準で0.001〜10重量%の量で配合して該金属イオン含有化合物の少なくとも一部を該可溶性ピリチオン塩の少なくとも一部とキレート交換反応させ、それによってピリチオン金属含有被覆組成物を形成させ、ここで該ピリチオン金属の該被覆組成物中溶解度は100ppm未満であり、
(c)基体上にピリチオン金属含有コーティングを形成させるために、該基体を該ピリチオン金属含有被覆組成物と接触させ、そして
(d)該基体上の該ピリチオン金属含有コーティングを乾燥させて該基体上に浸出抵抗性で、抗菌作用上有効な量の該ピリチオン金属を含有する乾燥塗膜を形成させる
工程を包含し、前記の可溶性ピリチオン塩が、ピリチオンナトリウム、ピリチオン・第三ブチルアミン、ピリチオンアルミニウム、ピリチオンカルシウム、ピリチオンカリウム、ピリチオンマグネシウム、ピリチオンバリウム及びそれらの組み合わせより成る群から選ばれ、前記の金属イオン含有化合物が亜鉛、銅、チタン及びそれらの組み合わせより成る群から選ばれる金属イオンを含むことを特徴とする、上記の方法。 - 前記の金属イオン含有化合物が金属塩、金属酸化物、金属水酸化物及びそれらの組み合わせより成る群から選ばれることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記可溶性ピリチオン塩の前記金属イオン含有化合物に対するモル比が1:10〜10:1であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記金属イオン含有化合物が亜鉛化合物以外の金属化合物であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記金属イオン含有化合物の金属が、銅またはチタンであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
