Description
アルミニウム箔を集電体とし、正極活物質としてLiNiO2で表される組成のリチウムニッケル系酸化物(ニッケル酸リチウム)を有するシート状電極を作製した。
本例では、連絡層形成用組成物の調製において、上記アセチレンブラックとPVDFとを質量比(RC)が凡そ95/5となるようにNMPと混合した。その他の点については例1と同様にして、例2に係る電極シートを作製した。
本例では、連絡層形成用組成物の調製において、上記アセチレンブラックとPVDFとを質量比(RC)が凡そ97/3となるようにNMPと混合した。その他の点については例1と同様にして、例3に係る電極シートを作製した。
本例では、連絡層形成用組成物の調製において、平均粒径48nmのアセチレンブラックに代えて平均粒径30nmのアセチレンブラックを使用した。その他の点については例3と同様にして、例4に係る電極シートを作製した。すなわち、バリア層および活物質層の形成には例1〜3と同様に平均粒径48nmのアセチレンブラックを使用した。
本例では、連絡層形成用組成物の調製において、平均粒径48nmのアセチレンブラックに代えて平均粒径16nmのアセチレンブラックを使用した。その他の点については例3と同様にして(したがって、バリア層および活物質層の形成には例1〜3と同様に平均粒径48nmのアセチレンブラックを使用して)、例5に係る電極シートを作製した。
本例では、例1と同様にバリア層を形成した後、該バリア層の上から直接活物質組成物を塗布して(すなわち、連絡層を形成することなく)活物質層を形成した。その他の点については例1と同様にして、例6に係る電極シートを作製した。
上記例1〜6の各例に係る電極シートを二枚重ね合わせて2500Nの圧力を加え、この状態でJIS K7194に準じた四端子四探針法によりシート抵抗[Ω・cm2]を測定した。その結果を表1に示す。表1には、各電極シートの大まかな構成を併せて示している。なお、表1中の「AB」はアセチレンブラックを表す。
例4に係る電極シートの製造において活物質層の形成後にプレスを行う際における厚み圧縮比をそれぞれ0.67(例4a)、0.71(例4b)、0.75(例4c)、0.78(例4d;上記例4の圧縮比と同じ。)、0.82(例4e)、0.86(例4f)、0.90(例4g)および0.96(例4h)とし、他の点については例4と同様にして、厚み圧縮比の異なる計8種の電極シートを作製した。これら例4a〜例4hに係る電極シートを正極に使用して、以下に示す手順で、直径18mm、高さ65mm(すなわち18650型)の一般的な円筒型リチウムイオン電池100(図7参照)を作製した。
本例では、連絡層の形成に用いる導電材として、例1〜5で用いたアセチレンブラック(粒状)に代えて、気相法により合成された炭素繊維(昭和電工株式会社から入手可能な高結晶性のカーボンナノファイバー、商品名「VGCF」)を使用した。すなわち、この気相法炭素繊維とPVDFとを質量比(RC)が凡そ90/10となるようにNMPと混合して連絡層形成用組成物を調製した。かかる連絡層形成用組成物を使用した点以外は例1と同様にして(したがって、バリア層および活物質層の形成には例1〜3と同様に平均粒径48nmのアセチレンブラックを使用して)、例7に係る電極シートを作製した。
本例では、連絡層形成用組成物の調製において、上記気相法炭素繊維とPVDFとを質量比(RC)が凡そ95/5となるようにNMPと混合した。その他の点については例7と同様にして、例8に係る電極シートを作製した。
本例では、連絡層形成用組成物の調製において、上記気相法炭素繊維とPVDFとを質量比(RC)が凡そ97/3となるようにNMPと混合した。その他の点については例7と同様にして、例9に係る電極シートを作製した。
上記例7〜9の各例に係る電極シートについて、例1〜6に係る電極シートと同様にシート抵抗[Ω・cm2]を測定した。その結果を、連絡層を有しない例6に係る電極シートのシート抵抗測定結果とともに表2に示す。表2には、各電極シートの具備される連絡層の組成を併せて示している。
例8に係る電極シートの製造において活物質層の形成後にプレスを行う際における厚み圧縮比をそれぞれ0.59(例8a)、0.63(例8b)、0.67(例8c)、0.71(例8d)、0.75(例8e)、0.78(例8f;上記例8の圧縮比と同じ。)、0.83(例8g)、0.86(例8h)、0.90(例8i)および0.94(例8j)とし、他の点については例8と同様にして、厚み圧縮比の異なる計10種の電極シートを作製した。例4a〜例4hに係る電極シートに代えてこれら例8a〜例8jに係る電極シートを正極に使用した点以外は上記と同様にして、各正極シートに対応する計10種の18650型リチウムイオン電池を作製した。

Claims (10)
- 電極活物質を主成分とする活物質層が金属製の集電体に保持された電極であって、
前記集電体の表面に設けられた層であって非水溶性ポリマー材料と導電材とを含有するバリア層と、
前記バリア層と前記活物質層との間に介在された層であってポリマー材料と導電材とを含有し、前記バリア層よりも導電性の高い連絡層と、
を備える、電極。 - 前記バリア層における導電材/ポリマー材料の質量比RBと前記連絡層における導電材/ポリマー材料の質量比RCとの関係がRB<RCを満たす、請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記バリア層および前記連絡層はそれぞれ粒状の導電材を含み、前記バリア層に含まれる粒状導電材の平均粒径DBと前記連絡層に含まれる粒状導電材の平均粒径DCとの関係がDB>DCを満たす、請求項1または2に記載の電極。
- 前記活物質層は粒状の導電材を含み、該活物質層に含まれる粒状導電材の平均粒径DAと前記連絡層に含まれる粒状導電材の平均粒径DCとの関係がDA>DCを満たす、請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の電極。
- 前記連絡層は炭素繊維を含み、該炭素繊維の少なくとも一部は前記連絡層から前記活物質層および/または前記バリア層に跨って配置されている、請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の電極。
- 電極活物質を主成分とする活物質層が金属製の集電体に保持された電極を製造する方法であって:
導電材と非水溶性ポリマー材料と該ポリマー材料を溶解する溶媒とを含むバリア層形成用組成物を前記集電体に付与して該集電体の表面にバリア層を形成すること;
前記バリア層の上から、導電材とポリマー材料と該ポリマー材料を溶解する溶媒とを含む連絡層形成用組成物を付与して、前記バリア層よりも導電性の高い連絡層を形成すること;および、
前記連絡層の上から水系の活物質組成物を付与して活物質層を形成すること;
を包含する、電極製造方法。 - 前記バリア層形成用組成物を構成する溶媒は有機溶剤である、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の電極を用いて構築された電池。
- 請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の電極を正極に用いて構築されたリチウムイオン電池。
- 請求項9に記載のリチウムイオン電池を備える車両。
