アクリル樹脂溶液(固形分50重量%) 56.0部
グアナミン溶液(固形分77重量%) 15.6部
アルミナ粒子[0.3μm、固有抵抗1014Ω・cm]100.0部
トルエン 900部
ブチルセロソルブ 900部
これらをホモミキサーで10分間分散して被覆膜形成溶液を調合した。真球上の磁性微粉体としては、表面の凹凸の周期と振幅が各々0.1μm以下となるマグネタイト粒子を用いた。磁性微粉体表面の凹凸の周期と振幅はWyko NT3300 Optical Profilerで得られたX及びY−Profileで計測した。各々、0.08μmであった。これを、膜厚0.6μmになるようにスピラコーター(岡田精工社製)によりこの被覆膜形成溶液塗布し乾燥した。膜厚の調整はコート液量を調整する事で行った。得られたキャリアを電気炉中にて150℃で1時間放置して焼成した。冷却後フェライト粉バルクを目開き100μmの篩を用いて解砕し、キャリアとした。ここで、無作為抽出した静電潜像用キャリアについて頂点部分のコート膜厚を測定して、10点膜厚計測値を算出し、平均膜厚d=0.59μm、バラツキ:σ=0.047μmを得た。バラツキは0.08dとなった。なお、コート膜の光学膜厚の多点平均膜厚は特願2003−133851記載の薄膜コート微粉体のコート層膜厚測定方法および膜厚測定装置を用いることにより、計測が可能となる。

これらをミキサーで10分間分散して被覆膜形成溶液を調合した。真球上の磁性微粉体としては、表面の凹凸の周期と振幅が各々0.1μm以下となるマグネタイト粒子を用いた。磁性微粉体表面の凹凸の周期と振幅はWyko NT3300 Optical Profilerで得られたX及びY−Profileで計測した。各々、0.08μmであった。これを、膜厚0.6μmになるようにスピラコーター(岡田精工社製)によりこの被覆膜形成溶液塗布し乾燥した。膜厚の調整はコート液量を調整する事で行った。得られたキャリアを電気炉中にて150℃で1時間放置して焼成した。冷却後フェライト粉バルクを目開き100μmの篩を用いて解砕し、キャリアとした。ここで、同様に平均膜厚dとバラツキ:σを求めたところキャリアコート膜のバラツキは、0.15dとなった。
実施例と比較例のキャリアを用いた現像剤を、図2の現像装置にセットした。トナーはワックスを含有しないものを用いた。この現像剤と現像装置をプリテール500(リコー社製フルカラー複写機)にセットし、単色モードで10分間攪拌した後、画像をとり、画像部分の地肌汚れおよび画像品質の確認を行った。

Claims (2)
- 内部に固定された磁界発生手段を有し、表面上に磁性を有する静電潜像現像用キャリアとトナーとからなる2成分現像剤を担持して回転する非磁性現像スリーブからなる現像剤担持体と、該現像剤担持体上に担持された現像剤の量を規制する剛体からなる現像剤量規制部材とを備えた現像装置を用いて、像担持体上の静電潜像をトナー像化する画像形成装置において、
前記静電潜像現像用キャリアが、少なくとも結着樹脂と粒子を有するコート膜を有し、真球状の磁性微粉体上に、光透過性樹脂を含むコート膜を設けた静電潜像現像用キャリアであり、
前記静電潜像現像用キャリアの頂点付近のコート膜の光学膜厚の多点平均膜厚をdとした場合、多点コート膜のバラツキが0.1dμm以下の範囲であり、
前記真球状の磁性微粉体の表面の凹凸の周期と振幅が各々0.1μm以下であることを特徴する画像形成装置。 - 前記コート膜の膜厚が0.3μm以上、1.5μm以下であることを特徴する請求項1に記載の画像形成装置。
