Description
光源101Aは第1波長の光を出射する光源であり、光源101Bは第1波長より長い第2波長の光と、第2波長より長い第3波長の光とを出射する光源である。
図1は、本発明の一実施形態における光ピックアップ装置の概略構成を示す。
光源101Aは第1波長の光を出射する光源であり、光源101Bは第1波長より長い第2波長の光と、第2波長より長い第3波長の光とを出射する光源である。第1波長は例えばBDまたはHD−DVD用の405nm、第2波長は例えばDVD用の650nm、第3波長は例えばCD用の780nmであってよい。これら光源101A,101Bには半導体レーザが用いられる。
なお、各波長の光についてプラス、マイナスの両回折光を検出するのは、先に図5を用いて説明した従来技術でも行っていることであるが、光情報記録媒体106の上下方向の変動に対して、両光検出器上の両光スポットサイズが一定になるようなフォーカスサーボをかけるための信号を生成するためである。
なお、上記した実施形態では、回折素子103を、光源101Bと光路結合手段104との間に配置したが、光路結合手段104と集光手段105との間、または集光手段105の内部、または集光手段105と光情報記録媒体106との間に配置しても、同様の効果を得ることができる。

Claims (4)
- 第1、第2、第3の波長の光を発する光源と、前記第1から第3の波長の光の進行方向を共通化させる光路結合手段と、前記光路結合手段からの光を光情報記録媒体上に集光する集光手段と、前記光情報記録媒体からの反射光を回折する回折素子と、前記回折素子からの回折光を受光する複数の光検出器とを備えた光ピックアップ装置において、
前記光路結合手段は、最短波長である第1波長光と最長波長である第3波長光との集光手段へ向かう光軸を一致させ、前記回折素子は、第1波長光の±2次回折光と第2波長光および第3波長光の±1次回折光とを前記光情報記録媒体からの信号光として、第1波長光の+2次回折光と第2波長光および第3波長光の+1次回折光とを第1の光検出器に集光し、第1波長光の−2次回折光と第3波長光の−1次回折光とを第2の光検出器に集光する光ピックアップ装置。 - 第2波長および第3波長の光を発する光源と光検出器とを一体化した請求項1記載の光ピックアップ装置。
- 回折素子の断面形状が鋸歯状または矩形波状である請求項1記載の光ピックアップ装置。
- 第1波長は405nmであり、第2波長は650nmであり、第3波長は780nmである請求項1記載の光ピックアップ装置。
