Description
(1.発明の分野)
本発明は、一般的にはビデオ圧縮技術に関し、より詳細には、ビデオ符号化変換の計算で必要とされるビットサイズを小さくするための画像符号化装置及び画像復号装置に関する。
本願は、ルイス・ケロフスキーによって発明され、2001年8月9日に出願された「低ビット深度量子化」を発明の名称とする米国仮特許出願第06/311,436号(代理人整理番号第SLA1110P)、ルイス・ケロフスキーによって発明され、2001年11月30日に出願された「量子化と正規化とを組み合わせたビデオ符号化のための方法及びシステム」を発明の名称とする米国仮特許出願第06/319,018号(代理人整理番号第SLA1110P)、及びルイス・ケロフスキーによって発明され、2002年3月2日に出願された「低ビット深度量子化のための方法」を発明の名称とする米国特許出願第10/139,036号(代理人整理番号第SLA1110)の利益を請求するものである。
あるビデオ情報フォーマットは、テレビスクリーンを起動したり、ビデオテープに記憶するのに適した視覚情報を発生するようになっている。一般に、ビデオデータは階層的順序で構成される。1つのビデオシーケンスは複数のフレームのグループに分割され、各グループは一連のフレームから構成できる。各フレームは、ほぼ静止画に等しく、連続した動きが表示されるように見えるのに十分な頻度で、この静止画が更新される。1つのフレームは、更に複数のスライス、すなわち横長の領域に分割され、このスライスは誤り回復のシステム設計に用いられる。各スライスは、誤りがスライス間を伝搬しないように別個に符号化される。1つのスライスは、複数のマクロブロックから成る。H.26P及び動画専門家グループ(MPEG)−X規格では、1つのマクロブロックは、ビデオフォーマットに応じて16×16個の輝度ピクセルとこれに対応する色差ピクセルの組とから構成される。1つのマクロブロックは常に整数個のブロックを有し、8×8ピクセルのマトリックスは最小の符号化単位となっている。

に従って2Nにより量子化値を正規化することを更に含む。
変換と量子化との組み合わせのダイナミックレンジの条件は、式4に示されるように量子化パラメータA(QP)及びB(QP)を仮数項と指数項とに因数分解することによって低減できる。このような構造では、計算中に保存する必要があるのは、仮数項に起因する精度だけである。指数項は、最後に行う正規化のためのシフトに含めることができる。これについては、計算例として式5に示されている。

Claims (4)
- 変換係数の行列Kを量子化することにより量子化値の行列Lを求める画像符号化装置において、
前記量子化値の行列要素L[i][j]は、
前記変換係数の行列要素K[i][j]と、量子化パラメータQPと、前記量子化パラメータQPの関数である仮数部分の行列要素A(QP)[i][j]を用いて、
L[i][j]=K[i][j]×A(QP mode P)[i][j]×2A0−QP/P (ここでA0およびPは整数である)
により求められることを特徴とする画像符号化装置。 - 前記仮数部分の行列要素は、量子化パラメータQPをmとして、以下の構造
A(m)[i][j]=Mm,0 ((i,j)が共に偶数の場合)
A(m)[i][j]=Mm,1 ((i,j)は共に奇数の場合)
A(m)[i][j]=Mm,2 (上記以外の(i,j)の場合)
を有し、ここでMm,0、Mm,1、Mm,2はP×3の行列要素であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の画像符号化装置。 - 量子化値の行列Lを逆量子化して変換係数の行列Kを求める画像復号装置において、
前記変換係数の行列要素K[i][j]は、
前記量子化値の行列要素L[i][j]と、量子化パラメータQPと、前記量子化パラメータQPの関数である仮数部分の行列要素B(QP)[i][j]を用いて、
K[i][j]=L[i][j]×B(QP mode P)[i][j]×2QP/P (ここでPは整数である)
により求められることを特徴とする画像復号装置。 - 前記仮数部分の行列要素は、量子化パラメータQPをmとして、以下の構造
B(m)[i][j]=Sm,0 ((i,j)が共に偶数の場合)
B(m)[i][j]=Sm,1 ((i,j)は共に奇数の場合)
B(m)[i][j]=Sm,2 (上記以外の(i,j)の場合)
を有し、ここでSm,0、Sm,1、Sm,2はP×3の行列要素であることを特徴とする、請求項3に記載の画像復号装置。
