Description
今日の食品の包装加工[用語「食品(food)」は、あらゆる種類の、固体及び液体の食品(例えば、ペースト、スープ、ゼリー及びチーズの他、ジュース、ミルク及び他の飲み物)を意味する]はしばしば、「製袋充填(form-fill-seal)」タイプのものであり、また、連続的に移動するウェブ形状包装用積層品であって可とう性積層品で造られた該包装用積層品を成形して連続的に進むチューブにし;包装すべき所望の食品製品を該チューブに連続的に充填し;及び、シーリング(sealing)を行い、最終的に該チューブからシーリング済み包装を切り離す;ことによって実施されることがある。
それら包装加工はしばしば、高速の連続プロセスであり、該プロセスにおいて、ウェブ形状の包装用積層品は、機械によって連続的に送られ;例えば、液相又は気相の速効性殺菌用媒体を通過させることによって殺菌され;包装すべき食品を充填するのに必要なチューブ形状に形成されシーリングされ;次いで、最終的に横方向にシーリングされる。
このように、従来の包装用機械は、包装用積層品をシールするためのヒートシーリング装置を採用している。該ヒートシーリング装置には通常、互いに向かい合った関係に配置されて作動する、いわゆるカウンター・ジョー(counter jaws; 対向あご)とヒートシール・ジョー(heat seal jaws; 熱密封あご)とが備えられている。
超音波による横方向シーリングプロセスを使用することに関連するこれらの欠点があるにもかかわらず、それは迅速なプロセスであるので、超音波による横方向シーリングプロセスを使用することは、しばしば最も望ましい。
本発明の目的は、超音波エネルギーによってシーリングを行う間、一般的状況に対して一層許容性のある(forgiving)包装用積層品であって、好ましくは改善された機械特性をも示す該積層品を提供することである。本目的はとりわけ、シール機のメカニカル・セッティング(mechanical settings; 機械設定)の許容範囲が小さいこと;チューブ・ガイディング(tube guiding)が悪いこと;アンビル・ジョーの動作が不安定であること;超音波ホーンと切削レール(cutting rails)の間の平行関係が悪いこと;シール領域に異物が存在すること;等の一般的状況に対して一層許容性のある包装用積層品を提供することである。
本発明の主要目的はもちろん、本発明による包装用積層品から造った包装容器に;また、該包装容器の諸横方向シールと縦方向シールの間のオーバーラップにおいても;強固で液体不浸透性の横方向シールを与えることである。
これらの目的及び他の目的は、請求項1に規定する本発明の包装用積層品と、請求項11に規定する本発明の方法と、請求項16に規定する、包装用積層品から造られている包装容器とによって達成される。
更に、内層(6)は、熱可塑性材料で造られた第4の層(7)をも有することがある。第4の層は、低密度ポリエチレン(LDPE)層であるのが好ましい。しかし、第4の層は、直鎖の低密度ポリエチレン(LLDPE)層であることも考えられる。描かれていないが、第4の層7はそれ自体、同一材料で造られた1〜5枚の副層から成る場合がある。第4の層7は、5〜30g/m2、好ましくは8〜20g/m2、更に好ましくは10〜15g/m2の全坪量を示す。第4の層7は、該積層品10の中の第2の層2の反対側で(即ち、第1の層1と第3の層3の中間で)第1の層1と直接接触した状態で配列されている。
包装容器の外側を形成するように意図されている、積層品10の側面には、装飾層5を配列する。装飾層5はポリエチレン(PE)層、好ましくは低密度ポリエチレン(LDPE)層から成るのが好ましく、また、装飾層5は5〜25g/m2、好ましくは8〜20g/m2の坪量を示す。
本発明による包装用積層品はとりわけ、上述の諸層は別として、如何なる追加の層をも含有しないように開発されているものの、好ましくはないが、他のタイプの層(例えば、障壁層)も存在することはもちろんあり得る。
以下の例では、本発明による3種の異なる積層品の試験を行い、また、従来のタイプの1種の対照積層品についても試験を行った。それら積層品は、表1に明記する。L1及びL2は、フィルムを厚紙/装飾層と一緒に積層することによって造っておいた。L1のフィルムは、上記の説明に従って、第1の層、第2の層及び第4の層から成った。L2のフィルムは、第2の層及び第4の層から成った。対照及びL3の積層品は、押出しコーティングによって造っておいた。表1において、それら層の番号付けは、図1に示す番号付けに従う。表1から明らかなように、本発明による積層品の内層は、異なる数の層を有することがある。このことは、第1の層1、第4の層7又は第3の層3が、第2のシーリング層2と直接接触した状態で配列されている層であってもよいことを意味する。
しかし、本発明は、好ましい具体例の記載によって限定されないが、特許請求の範囲内で変化することができる。
Claims (24)
- 包装容器のための、構造用基層(4)及び内層(6)を含む包装用積層品(10)において、内層(6)は、ヒートシール性熱可塑性材料(以下、第2の熱可塑性材料という)としてのメタロセンポリエチレン材料からなるシーリング層(2)及び構造用基層(4)と直接接触して配列されている低密度ポリエチレンからなる第3の層(3)を有し;シーリング層(2)は、積層品(10)の一方の側面の最外層となるように配列されており、前記包装容器の内側に配列されるように意図されており;第2の熱可塑性材料は115J/g未満の溶融エンタルピーを示し;内層(6)の第1の層(1)は、第2の熱可塑性材料と異なる第1の熱可塑性材料から成っており;内層(6)は熱可塑性材料で造られた第4の層(7)を含み、第4の層(7)はそれ自体、1〜5層の副層から成り、しかも、第4の層(7)は、5〜30g/m 2 の坪量を示し;第1の層(1)と第4の層(7)の各々はシーリング層(2)と第3の層(3)の間に配列される;ことを特徴とする上記包装用積層品(10)。
- シーリング層(2)が、2〜10g/m2の坪量を示すことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第1の層(1)は、ポリエチレン(PE)層であり;第1の層(1)は、3〜30g/m2の坪量を示し;しかも、第1の層(1)は、シーリング層(2)と直接接触して配列されている;ことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第1の層(1)は、低密度ポリエチレン(LDPE)層であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第1の層(1)は、直鎖低密度ポリエチレン(LLDPE)層であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第1の層(1)は、C6又はC8直鎖低密度層であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第3の層(3)は10〜30g/m2の坪量を示す;ことを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第4の層は、低密度ポリエチレン(LDPE)層であることを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の包装用積層品。
- 構造用基層(4)は、紙若しくは厚紙の層、又は鉱物充填済みポリオレフィンの層であって、内層(6)の少なくとも6倍も厚い厚さを示す該層である;ことを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第2の熱可塑性材料の溶融エンタルピーは、第1の熱可塑性材料(第2の熱可塑性材料とは異なる)の溶融エンタルピーより小さい;ことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第2の熱可塑性材料の溶融エンタルピーは、内層(6)のいずれの層のいずれの熱可塑性材料の溶融エンタルピーより小さい;ことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第2の熱可塑性材料は、105J/g未満であるが、少なくとも40J/gの溶融エンタルピーを示す;ことを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第2の熱可塑性材料は、メタロセン低密度ポリエチレン材料である;ことを特徴とする請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の包装用積層品。
- 第2の熱可塑性材料は、メタロセン直鎖低密度ポリエチレン材料である;ことを特徴とする請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の包装用積層品。
- 包装容器の製造に関連する方法において、
a)請求項1〜14のいずれか1項に記載のウェブ形状包装用積層品(10)を選定するか又は製造する工程、
b)ウェブ形状包装用積層品(10)の縦方向の2つのエッジを一部重ね合わせて、それら一部重ね合わされたエッジにヒートシールを行い、縦方向シール(31)を与えることによって、該包装用積層品を連続的チューブ(23)に転換する工程、
c)前記チューブ(23)に内容物を充填する工程、
d)前記の充填済みチューブ(23)を2つの横方向アンビル・ジョーの間に配列しながら、それらアンビル・ジョーと一緒に機械プレスを行うことによって、断続的に横方向シール(32)を実現する工程、
e)同時に、包装用積層品(10)の前記横方向シール(32)の領域にエネルギーを与える工程、
を特徴とする、上記方法。 - エネルギーは、超音波エネルギーとして与えることを特徴とする、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 機械プレス、及びエネルギーを与える工程は、100〜250ミリ秒の時間間隔の間に行うことを特徴とする、請求項15又は16に記載の方法。
- 機械プレスは1〜10MPaで行うことを特徴とする、請求項15〜17のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 縦方向シール(31)の内部継目を覆うために連続的シールストリップ(34)を与えることを特徴とする、請求項15〜18のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 連続的シールストリップは、ポリプロピレンストリップによって構成されることを特徴とする、請求項19に記載の方法。
- 請求項1〜14のいずれか1項に記載の包装用積層品から造られている包装容器。
- 包装容器が、1つの縦方向シール(31)と2つの横方向シール(32)とを含み;それら横方向シールの各々が縦方向シール(31)と一部重なっており、このように、該容器の内容物のための室の範囲が定められており;横方向シールは該包装容器内のそれら横方向シールと該縦方向シールのオーバーラップにおいても強固であり且つ液体不浸透性である;ことを特徴とする請求項21に記載の包装容器。
- 最外層のヒートシール性の層(2)が、それ自体と一緒に圧縮されるように、包装用積層品が一緒に横方向に機械的に圧縮され;同時に、それら横方向シール(32)の領域で包装用積層品(10)に対してエネルギーが与えられる;ことによって、それら横方向シール(32)が実現されていることを特徴とする、請求項22に記載の包装容器。
- エネルギーは、超音波エネルギーであることを特徴とする、請求項23に記載の包装容器。
