Description
本出願は、2002年3月14日に出願された暫定米国特許出願Serial No.60/364,170の優先権を主張するものであり、その出願は参照としてここに入れてある。
本発明は、或る重量分率の単層壁炭素ナノチューブと、少なくとも一種類の極性重合体とを含む複合体で、重合体単独のものより大きな電気伝導度を有する複合体に関する。本発明は、この重合体組成物を製造する方法にも関する。本願は、広い範囲のSWNT導入量に亙って、当分野で知られているものより1桁以上大きい電気伝導度を有する複合体組成物を与える。
本発明の一つの態様は、或る重量分率の単層壁炭素ナノチューブと、少なくとも一種類の極性重合体とを含む複合体で、少なくとも5シーメンス/cm(S/cm)×複合体中単層壁炭素ナノチューブ重量分率(F)の電気伝導度を有する複合体である。複合体中の、単層壁ナノチューブ自身又は単層壁炭素ナノチューブロープのような単層壁炭素ナノチューブからなる材料素子の間の平均間隔は300nm以下であり、これらの素子は、単層壁炭素ナノチューブからなる浸透3次元網状組織を形成する。複合体の熱伝導度は、少なくとも約1ワット/m°K×複合体中のナノチューブの重量分率(F)である。
(a) 0.10≦F<0.05の時、
少なくとも10Fシーメンス/cm
(b) 0.004≦F<0.1の時、
少なくとも410(F−0.001)2.6シーメンス/cm、及び

Claims (10)
- 単層壁炭素ナノチューブ;ポリカーボネート、ポリ(アクリル酸)、ポリ(メタクリル酸)、ポリオキシド、ポリスルフィド、ポリスルホン、ポリアミド、ポリエステル、ポリウレタン、ポリイミド、ポリ(酢酸ビニル)、ポリ(ビニルアルコール)、ポリ(塩化ビニル)、ポリ(ビニルピリジン)、ポリ(ビニルピロリドン)、それらの共重合体、及びそれらの組合せからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種類の極性重合体;及び
ポリオレフィンを含有する少なくとも一種類の非極性重合体を含有する複合体であって、複合体中に単層壁炭素ナノチューブが、0.01重量%〜20重量%の範囲の量で存在する前記複合体。 - 少なくとも一種類の非極性重合体が、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリブテン、ポリイソブテン、ポリイソプレン、ボリイソブチレン、それらの共重合体、及びそれらの組合せからなる群から選択されたポリオレフィンを含有する、請求項1に記載の複合体。
- 複合体中が、少なくとも10ワット/m°K×複合体中ナノチューブ重量分率の熱伝導度を有する、請求項1に記載の複合体。
- 単層壁炭素ナノチューブ;ポリカーボネート、ポリ(アクリル酸)、ポリ(メタクリル酸)、ポリオキシド、ポリスルフィド、ポリスルホン、ポリアミド、ポリエステル、ポリウレタン、ポリイミド、ポリ(酢酸ビニル)、ポリ(ビニルアルコール)、ポリ(塩化ビニル)、ポリ(ビニルピリジン)、ポリ(ビニルピロリドン)、それらの共重合体、及びそれらの組合せからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種類の極性重合体;及び少なくとも一種類の非極性重合体を含有する複合体の製造方法において、
a) 単層壁炭素ナノチューブ;少なくとも一種類の極性重合体;及び少なくとも一種類の非極性重合体を溶媒中に分散させ、ナノチューブ・重合体懸濁物を形成し、そして
b) 前記懸濁物から溶媒を除去し、ナノチューブ・重合体複合体を形成し、複合体中に単層壁炭素ナノチューブが、0.01重量%〜20重量%の範囲の量で存在する、
複合体製造方法。 - 少なくとも一種類の非極性重合体が、ポリオレフィンを含有する、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも一種類の非極性重合体が、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリブテン、ポリイソブテン、ポリイソプレン、ボリイソブチレン、ポリスチレン、それらの共重合体、及びそれらの組合せからなる群から選択された重合体を含有する、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 分散を、超音波適用、機械的撹拌、又はそれらの組合せからなる群から選択された方法により行う、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 更に、懸濁物を加熱することを含む、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 複合体中が、少なくとも10ワット/m°K×複合体中ナノチューブ重量分率の熱伝導度を有する、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 複合体が電気伝導度を有し、単層壁炭素ナノチューブが重量分率(F)で存在し、複合体の電気伝導度が少なくとも、
(a) F=0.1の時、1シーメンス/cm(S/cm)
(b) F=0.004の時、少なくとも1×10 −4 S/cm、
(c) F=0.001の時、少なくとも6×10 −9 S/cmである、請求項1に記載の複合体。
