【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】（関連出願への相互参照） 本出願は１９９８年１月２日出願の仮出願第６０／０７
０，３２８号から優先権を主張する。
【０００２】（発明の背景） 本発明は概ね移動自動車オフィス・システム、特に車両
シート・バックに取り付け、概ね水平の位置まで動かす
ことができる収納および作業表面モジュールに関する。
【０００３】セルラー式電話やラップ・トップ・コンピ
ュータの使用が増加し続けるにつれ、自分の車両から仕
事を実行する人が増加している。自動車メーカーはこの
ような装置に使用する電気コンセントの供給量を増加さ
せているが、産業内には現在、このようなビジネス・ツ
ールを適切に使用するため、車両内に十分かつ便利な収
納および作業表面を提供するよう要求がある。現在、作
業表面を提供するため使用可能な装置の大部分は、吸引
カップまたはフック・ループ固定具によって風防ガラス
またはインストルメント・パネルに一時的に取り付ける
購入後取付装置である。さらに、多くの移動オフィスの
ユーザは、シートのクッション上にブリーフケースまた
はノートブックを配置して、支持表面を即席に作成して
いる。
【０００４】車両内に適切な作業面を提供するという問
題に対するこれらの漸次的かつ即席の解決策は、往々に
して好都合の位置に作業面を配置することができず、十

用者に収納および作業面を提供する移動自動車オフィス
・システムが開示される。システムは、個人旅行中に、
個人的で仕事以外のタイプの用途にも容易に使用できる
便利さも提供する。オフィス・システムは、概ねシート
バックに取り付けられ、概ね水平の位置まで折ることが
でき、使用者の着座位置に隣接して配置される。オフィ
ス・システムは、使用する品物を収納する容器部分と、
容器内に品目を保持するカバーとを含む。カバーは、小
物、つまり使用者が主な収納区域から区別したい品目の
収納も提供する。カバーは、さらに、シート・バックを
折り畳んだ位置にして、カバーを閉じると、作業面を提
供する。オフィス・システムの他の快適な装備は、第１
側に書き物用表面を提供し、第２側にセルラー式電話の
キャリッジ・ブラケットを提供するフリップアウト・ノ
ートパッド支持パネルを含む。オフィス・システムは、
さらに、オフィス・システムで使用する任意の装置での
電力接続部、さらにセルラー式電話の接続部、コンピュ
ータ・モデム接続部、および作業面または収納区域を照
明するライトを含む。

ト・アセンブリ４が図示され、運転席アセンブリ５と離
隔している。フロア・コンソール６が、シート・アセン
ブリ４、５間に配置されている。２つのシート・アセン
ブリ４、５は、車両フロント・シート列を形成する。シ
ート・アセンブリ４は、概ね水平のシート・クッション
７およびシート・クッション７の後端から上方向に延在
するシート・バック８を含む。ヘッド・レスト９がシー
ト・バック８から延在する。
【０００９】本発明の自動車オフィス・システムは、概
ね１０で指示され、シート・バック８の後部に固定され
る。シート・バック８は、図１に示すように乗員の使用
位置まで上げるか、図２および図３に示すように自動車
オフィスの使用位置まで前に折ることができる。本発明
の実施形態は、シート・バックに関して記載されている
が、オフィス・システム１０は使用者に概ね隣接して配
置される折りたたみアームレストまたは他の可動構造に
組み込むことができる。シート・アセンブリ４は、さら
に、軌道１４の形態で前後アジャスタを含む。アジャス
タは、車両シートでよく知られているように、車両内で
シート・クッション７およびシート・バック８を前後に
移動させるのに使用される。
【００１０】好ましい実施形態のオフィス・システム１
０は、収容容器部分２０、カバー２２、およびノートパ
ッド支持パネル２４を含む。カバー２２は、カバー２２
の一方側に沿って蝶番２５により容器部分２０に旋回自
在に接続されている。カバー２２は、任意の側に沿って
蝶番接続することができるが、シート・バック８が前に
倒した使用位置にある時の状態で前縁２６に沿って、あ
るいは図１の使用者の反対側の縁２８に沿って蝶番接続
することが好ましい。
【００１１】カバー２２は、容器部分２０に取り付けた
ラッチ３０の第２部分３２と連係して働くラッチ３０の
第１部分２９を含む。ラッチ３０は、シート・バック８
が乗員の使用位置にある時、さらにカバー２２が閉位置
にあり、シート・バック８がオフィスの使用位置にある
時に、閉位置にカバー２２を固定する。図示のように、
カバー２２は内面３６および外面３８を提供する。内面
３６は、使用者が容器部分２０の主要収納区域から分離
したい品目を収容するため、収納ポーチまたは容器３４
（可撓性があるか、所定の位置に固定される）の取付具
を提供する。このような品目は、通常、ペン、鉛筆、コ
ンピュータ・ディスク、紙片、またはファイル・フォル
ダを含む。ポーチまたは容器３４は、容器部分２０内の
収容空間を拡大したり、使用者がポーチまたは容器３４
を都合良く外し、収容した品目を都合良い方法で持ち歩
くことができるよう、着脱式にしてもよい。カバー２２

ー２２が開位置にある時に収納区域および支持パネル２
４を局所的に照明するライト４４も提供する。ライト４
４は、概ね切り換え可能であり、カバー２２が開位置に
ある時のみ起動される。カバー２２の外面３８は、使用
者が筆記または作業するために平滑な作業面を提供する
か、あるいは図３に示すように、シート・バック８の美
的外観を改良するために、インサート４６（カーペット
または織物）を含むことができる。カーペットまたは織
物のインサートは、ラップ・トップ・コンピュータの底
面に取り付けてコンピュータを固定し、摺動を防止する
フック・ループ固定具（VELCRORなど）と容易にインタ
フェースをとる表面を提供する。オフィス・システム１
０を小児に隣接したシート・アセンブリに組み込む場合
は、種々のゲームまたはアクティビティ・ボードを同じ
フック・ループ形式の固定具で固定することができる。
特に、チェッカー、チェス盤、連結ブロック・ボード
（LEGORブロックに使用されているようなもの）、また
は携帯用ビデオ・ゲーム、さらに多種多様な同様の品目
を固定することができる。
【００１２】支持パネル２４は、容器部分２０に旋回自
在に取り付けられ、カバー２２の切欠きまたは窪み４８
によって、カバー２２の閉鎖時に支持パネル２４を横方
向に延在する使用位置にできるような位置に配置され
る。支持パネル２４は、第１表面５４にノートパッドを
保持するクリップ５０およびペン・ホルダ５２を含む。
支持パネル２４は、さらに、図３に示す第２表面５８
に、電話キャリッジ・ブラケット５６を含む。第２表面
５８は、支持パネル２４を半直立の中間使用位置へと旋
回することによりアクセスでき、これで電話６０は使用
者がダイヤルし、所望に応じて両手を使わない方法で電
話６０を使用するのに都合の良い位置へと配置される。
あるいは、支持パネル２４は、容器部分２０ではなくカ

【００１３】ヘッド・レスト９は、シート・バック８を
図３に示す折り畳んだ前方位置へと移動させた時、ヘッ
ド・レストがシート・バックに対して９０°後方に回転
し、現在は水平であるシート・バック８から上方向に延
在するよう、シート・バック８に取り付けられる。ヘッ
ド・レスト本体６１は、支持ポスト６２に取り付けられ
る。ポスト６２は、シート・バック８のスロット６４内
を移動し、ヘッド・レストが回転できるようにする。ヘ
ッド・レスト本体６１は、クロージャ７２に覆われ、３
方ジッパー７４またはフック・ループ固定具、スナップ
などの他の固定具によって保持されるポーチも含むこと
ができる。クロージャ７２は、ヘッド・レスト本体６１
の背面６６の一部を形成する。ポーチは、セルラー式電
話６０の収容区域として働くことができる。ヘッド・レ
スト９の後部のポーチは、シート・バック８を下に降ろ
した時、および図１に示す直立の使用位置にした時の両
方で、運転者から容易にアクセスすることができる。

Claims (18)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 車両シート・アセンブリであって、 前端および後端を有する概ね水平のシート・クッション
    と、 前記シート・クッションの前記後端にあり、乗員の使用
    位置で上方向に延在するシート・バックにして、前記乗
    員の使用位置から折り畳んだ前方位置へと動かすため、
    回転可能に取り付けられ、後側を有したシート・バック
    と、 前記後側で前記シート・バックに取り付けられた容器部
    分にして、自身の中に窪んだ収納区域を有した容器部分
    と、 前記容器部分の前記窪んだ収納区域内に収容した品目を
    隠し、保持する前記窪んだ収納区域用カバーと、 前記カバーを、前記窪んだ収納区域内に収納した品目を
    隠すと共に保持する閉位置と、前記窪んだ収納区域がア
    クセス可能な開位置との間で動かすため、前記カバーを
    前記容器部分に旋回自在に取り付ける蝶番と、 前記窪んだ収容区域内の収容位置と、前記容器部分から
    横方向に延在する使用位置との間を旋回自在に前記容器

    置とを有した支持パネルにして、前記カバーが前記閉位

    上を向き、第２表面が下を向く前記横方向に延在する使
    用位置へと回転し、さらに、セルラー式電話を取り付け
    るため、前記第２表面に電話支持ブラケットを備える、
    請求項１２に記載の車両シート・アセンブリ。
  16. 【請求項１６】 前記カバーが前記閉位置にある時、前
    記支持パネルが前記横方向に延在する使用位置から前記
    収容位置に向かって、前記支持パネルの前記第２表面が
    前記シート・バックから横方向外側に向く中間使用位置
    へと回転可能である、請求項１５に記載の車両シート・
    アセンブリ。
  17. 【請求項１７】 車両シート・アセンブリであって、 前端および後端を有する概ね水平なシート・クッション
    と、 前記シート・クッションの前記後端にあって、乗員の使
    用位置では上方向に延在するシート・バックにして、前
    記乗員の使用位置から折り畳んだ前方位置へと動かすた
    め、回転自在に取り付けられ、後側を有したシート・バ
    ックと、 前記後側で前記シート・バックに取り付けられた容器部
    分にして、自身の中に窪んだ収納区域を有した容器部分
    と、 前記容器部分の前記窪んだ収納区域内に収納した品目を
    隠し、保持する、前記窪んだ収納区域用カバーと、 前記容器部分に隣接して旋回自在に取り付けられた支持
    パネルとを備え、 前記支持パネルが横方向に延在する使用位置にある時
    に、前記カバーを閉位置に配置できるよう、前記カバー
    及び前記容器部分の一方が前記支持パネルと連係して働
    く切欠きを含む車両シート・アセンブリ 。
  18. 【請求項１８】 車両シート・アセンブリであって、 前端および後端を有する概ね水平なシート・クッション
    と、 前記シート・クッションの前記後端にあって、乗員の使
    用位置で上方向に延在するシート・バックにして、前記
    乗員の使用位置から折り畳んだ前方位置へと動かすた
    め、回転自在に取り付けられ、後側を有したシート・バ
    ックと、 前記後側で前記シート・バックに取り付けられた容器部
    分にして、自身の中に窪んだ収納区域を有した容器部分
    と、 前記容器部分の前記窪んだ収納区域内に収納する品目を
    隠し、保持する、前記窪んだ収納区域用カバーと、 前記カバーを、前記窪んだ収納区域内に収納品目を隠す
    と共に保持する閉位置と、前記窪んだ収納区域がアクセ
    ス可能である開位置との間で動かすため、前記カバーを
    前記容器部分に旋回自在に取り付ける蝶番と、 前記容器部分に隣接して旋回自在に取り付けら、延在使
    用位置を有する支持パネルとを備え、 前記支持パネルが前記横方向に延在する使用位置にある
    時に、前記カバーを閉位置に配置できるよう、前記カバ
    ー及び前記容器部分の一方が前記支持パネルと連係して
    働く切欠きを含む車両シート・アセンブリ 。
