活性炭素をガラス製ジャー(jar)に入れ、N2気体でパージした。その後、前記活性炭素をマイクロ波照射装置に移し、前記活性炭素にマイクロ波を照射した。このとき、マイクロ波出力、炭素材料の含量、照射時間および前記式1によるMPPTの値を、下記の表1に示した。
活性炭素をガラス製ジャー(jar)に入れ、N2気体でパージした。その後、前記活性炭素をマイクロ波照射装置に移し、前記活性炭素にマイクロ波を照射した。このとき、マイクロ波出力、炭素材料の含量、照射時間および前記式1によるMPPTの値を、下記の表1に示した。
前処理工程を行っていない状態の活性炭素を準備した。
活性炭素を150℃のオーブンで2時間保持し、前処理した。
前記表1によれば、実施例1~3の場合、不純物の除去率は6%以上であって、比較例に比べて高いことが確認された。比較例1では、不純物除去率が2.9%と非常に低く、比較例2では、MPPT値が高すぎて炭素材料が前処理過程中に発火した。一方、単純加熱処理した比較例4では、比較例1よりも不純物除去率が高いものの、本発明による前処理方法に比べて劣位の結果を示した。図1は、実施例1、比較例1および実施例2のTGA測定結果をグラフで示したものである。一方、実施例3の方法で前処理して得られた炭素材料を常温で10分間放置後、熱重量を分析した結果、不純物除去率が5.0%に低下した。これは、炭素材料の多孔性の特性上、空気中の水分などの不純物が速やかに再吸着し、不純物除去率が低下したからである。したがって、本発明による硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法では、炭素材料の前処理後に硫黄と速やかに混合することが好ましい。
Claims (10)
- 電気化学素子の正極活物質用硫黄-炭素複合体を製造する方法であって、
前記方法は、
(S1)マイクロ波(microwave)を用いて多孔性炭素材料を前処理するステップと、
(S2)前記(S1)の結果物および硫黄を混合するステップと、
(S3)前記(S2)の結果物を複合化するステップと、
を含み、
前記(S1)ステップでは、下記の式1によるMPPTが30超かつ3000未満の値を有するように制御される、硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法:

前記式1において、Wはマイクロ波の出力(w)を表し、Sはマイクロ波の照射時間(秒)を表し、Wtは炭素材料の重量(g)を表す。 - 前記S(マイクロ波の照射時間)は、5秒以上である、請求項1に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記(S1)の結果物は、(S2)で硫黄と混合される前に不活性気体の雰囲気下で保管される、請求項1に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記不活性気体は、N2、ヘリウム、ネオン、アルゴン、クリプトン、キセノン、およびラドンから選ばれる1種以上を含む、請求項3に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記(S2)ステップは、(S1)ステップを行った後の10分以内に行われる、請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記炭素材料は、BET比表面積が1,600m2/gを超える、請求項1に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記炭素材料は、平均気孔径が10nm未満である、請求項6に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記炭素材料は、気孔度が50vol%以上である、請求項6に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記気孔度は、60vol%~80vol%である、請求項8に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記炭素材料は、直径が1nm以下の微細気孔の割合が、炭素の全気孔体積100vol%に対して40vol%以上である、請求項6に記載の硫黄-炭素複合体の製造方法。
