本物品は、接着層を含む。接着層は、2つの対向する表面、すなわち、第1の表面および第2の表面を有する。接着層は、(i)0.1g/10分〜300g/10分のメルトインデックスを有する官能化エチレン系ポリマーと、(ii)0.01重量%〜45重量%の官能化炭化水素と、(iii)粘着付与剤と、(iv)任意で架橋剤と、(v)任意でエチレン系ポリマーと、(vi)任意でスチレン系ブロックコポリマーと、(vii)任意で添加剤とを含有する。
接着層は、官能化エチレン系ポリマーを含有する。「官能化エチレン系ポリマー」は、エチレン系ポリマー鎖に結合した、酸部分、酸無水物部分、アミン部分、イミド部分、またはヒドロキシル部分(例えば、エチレン系ポリマー鎖にグラフトされた酸無水物部分)を有するエチレン系ポリマーである。好適な酸の非限定的な例としては、マレイン酸、フマル酸、イタコン酸、アクリル酸、メタクリル酸、およびクロトン酸などのカルボン酸が挙げられる。好適な酸無水物の非限定的な例としては、無水マレイン酸および無水イタコン酸などのカルボン酸無水物が挙げられる。好適なアミンの非限定的な例としては、一級アミン、二級アミン(例えば、ヒドロキシエチルアミン)、三級アミン(例えば、トリメチルアミン)、モノアミン、ジアミン(例えば、2−エチルアミノエチルアミン)、およびそれらの組み合わせが挙げられる。
接着層は、官能化炭化水素を含有する。「官能化炭化水素」は、炭化水素ポリマー鎖に結合した酸無水物部分(例えば、炭化水素ポリマー鎖にグラフトされた酸無水物部分)を有する炭化水素ポリマーである。好適な炭化水素ポリマーの非限定的な例としては、ポリブタジエン、ポリイソプレン、およびエチレン/プロピレン/ジエンターポリマー(EPDM)ターポリマーが挙げられる。好適な酸無水物の非限定的な例としては、無水マレイン酸および無水イタコン酸などのカルボン酸無水物が挙げられる。官能化炭化水素は、接着層内で可塑剤として機能する。
接着層は、粘着付与剤を含有する。粘着付与剤は、80℃、または85℃、または90℃、または93℃、または95℃、または97℃、または100℃、または105℃から、110℃、または115℃、または120℃、または130℃、または140℃、または150℃までの環球式軟化点を有する。粘着付与剤は、粘弾性特性(例えば、タンデルタ)、レオロジー特性(例えば、粘度)、粘着性(例えば、粘着能力)、感圧性、および湿潤特性などの接着層の特性を修飾することができる。いくつかの実施形態では、粘着付与剤は、接着層の粘着性を改善するために使用される。特定の実施形態では、粘着付与剤は、接着性表面を湿潤させるために、および/または接着性表面への接着を改善するために使用される。
一実施形態では、接着層は、架橋剤を含有する。架橋剤は、接着層の硬化を促進し、接着層と、接着層と接触している層との間の接着をさらに促進する。好適な架橋剤の非限定的な例は、過酸化物である。好適な過酸化物の非限定的な例としては、過酸化ベンゾイル、過酸化メチルエチルケトン、過酸化tert−ブチル、過酸化ラウロイル、および過酸化ジクミルが挙げられる。一実施形態では、架橋剤は、過酸化ラウロイル、過酸化ジクミル、またはそれらの組み合わせである。
一実施形態では、接着層は、任意のエチレン系ポリマーを含有する。任意のエチレン系ポリマーは、官能化されていない(すなわち、酸無水物部分を含有しない)ため、任意のエチレン系ポリマーは、官能化エチレン系ポリマーとは異なる。
一実施形態では、接着層は、任意のスチレン系ブロックコポリマーを含有する。「スチレン系ブロックコポリマー」は、別のコモノマーの別のブロックセグメントと組み合わせて少なくとも1つのスチレン系モノマーのブロックセグメントを有するエラストマーである。スチレン系ブロックコポリマーは、直鎖状もしくは放射状の種類のもの、またはジブロックもしくはトリブロックの種類のものであり得る。好適なスチレン系ブロックコポリマーの非限定的な例としては、スチレン−イソプレン−スチレンブロックコポリマー(SIS)、スチレン−ブタジエン−スチレンブロックコポリマー(SBS)、スチレン−エチレン/ブチレン−スチレンブロックコポリマー(SEBS)、スチレン−イソブチレン−スチレンブロックコポリマー(SIBS)、スチレン−エチレン−プロピレン−スチレンブロックコポリマー(SEPS)、およびそれらの混合物が挙げられる。スチレン系ブロックコポリマーは、登録商標名VECTOR(登録商標)の下でDexco Polymersから、登録商標名KRATON(登録商標)(例えば、KRATON(登録商標)FG1901G)の下でKraton Corporationから、および登録商標名SOLPRENE(登録商標)4114A、4213Aの下でDynasolなどから入手可能である。
一実施形態では、接着層は、任意の添加剤を含有する。好適な添加剤の非限定的な例としては、可塑剤、油、安定剤、酸化防止剤、顔料、染料、ブロッキング防止添加剤、ポリマー添加剤、消泡剤、保存剤、増粘剤、レオロジー修飾剤、湿潤剤、充填剤、溶媒、核化剤、界面活性剤、キレート剤、ゲル化剤、加工助剤、中和剤、難燃剤、蛍光剤、相溶化剤、抗菌剤、水、およびそれらの組み合わせが挙げられる。
一実施形態では、接着組成物が提供される。接着組成物は、溶媒を含む。溶媒は、炭化水素溶媒、極性溶媒、およびそれらの組み合わせであり得る。
一実施形態では、本物品は、接着層の第1の表面と直接接触している第1の層を含む。第1の層は、布地を含む。一実施形態では、布地は、ポリエステル、ポリアミド(ナイロンなど)、セルロース、繊維ガラス、パラアラミド、アラミド、またはそれらの組み合わせである、個々の繊維または糸から形成される。好適なポリエステルの非限定的な例は、ポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)である。好適なセルロースの非限定的な例は、綿である。一実施形態では、布地は、PET繊維および綿繊維を含む。一実施形態では、50重量%、または51重量%、または75重量%から、90重量%、100重量%までの布地繊維および/または布地糸は、ポリエステル、ポリアミド、セルロース、繊維ガラス、パラアラミド、アラミド、またはそれらの組み合わせである。
一実施形態では、本物品は、接着層の第2の表面と直接接触している第2の層を含む。第2の層は、(1)エチレン/α−オレフィンマルチブロックコポリマー、(2)エチレン/プロピレン/ジエンターポリマー、およびそれらの組み合わせから選択されるエチレン系ポリマーを含有する。一実施形態では、第2の層は、(3)任意の添加剤を含む。

式中、密度dは、0.850g/cc、または0.860g/cc、または0.870g/cc、または0.875g/ccから、0.880g/cc、または0.890g/ccまでであり、融点Tmは、110℃、または115℃、または120℃から、125℃、または130℃、または135℃までである。
一実施形態では、第2の層は、エチレン/プロピレン/ジエンターポリマーを含む。「エチレン/プロピレン/ジエンターポリマー」(「EPDM」)は、過半重量パーセント(すなわち、50重量%超)のエチレン由来の単位を有するポリマーであり、プロピレンコモノマー由来の単位およびジエンコモノマー由来の単位もまた含む。
一実施形態では、第2の層は、任意の添加剤を含む。好適な添加剤の非限定的な例としては、充填剤(例えば、カーボンブラックおよびシリカ)、可塑剤、油(例えば、パラフィン油)、安定剤、酸化防止剤(例えば、亜鉛2−メルカプトトルミンダゾール(mercaptotolumindazole)、4,4’−ビス(アルファ,アルファ−ジメチルベンキシル)ジフェニルアミン、および重合1,2−ジヒドロ−2,2,4−トリメチルキノリン)、顔料、染料、ブロッキング防止添加剤、ポリマー添加剤、消泡剤、保存剤、増粘剤、レオロジー修飾剤、湿潤剤、充填剤、溶媒、核化剤、界面活性剤、キレート剤、ゲル化剤、加工助剤、中和剤、難燃剤、蛍光剤、相溶化剤、抗菌剤、助剤(例えば、トリメタクリル酸トリメチロールプロパン(TMPTMA))、架橋剤(例えば、過酸化ジクミル)、水、ならびにそれらの組み合わせが挙げられる。
本開示は、物品を提供する。一実施形態では、本物品は、(A)2つの対向する表面を有する接着層と、(B)任意で、接着層の第1の表面と直接接触している第1の層であって、布地を含有する、第1の層と、(C)任意で、接着層の第2の表面と直接接触している第2の層であって、エチレン/α−オレフィンマルチブロックコポリマー、EPDMターポリマー、およびそれらの組み合わせから選択されるエチレン系ポリマーを含有する、第2の層とを含む。一実施形態では、接着層は、第1の層および/または第2の層に架橋される。
酸価(acid value)(または酸価(acid number))は、ASTM D1386/7に従って測定する。酸価は、物質中に存在する未反応の脂肪酸の量の尺度である。酸価は、1グラムの物質(例えば、官能化ポリブタジエン)中に存在する遊離脂肪酸の中和に必要とされる水酸化カリウムのミリグラム数である。酸価の単位は、mg KOH/gである。
磁気撹拌下で、85℃の溶媒中にエチレン系ポリマーペレットを直接分散させることによって、(エチレン系ポリマー原液の総重量に基づいて)10重量%のエチレン系ポリマーを含有するエチレン系ポリマー原液を調製し、さらに2時間撹拌する。磁気撹拌下で、60℃の溶媒中に粘着付与剤を直接溶解させることによって、(粘着付与剤原液の総重量に基づいて)20重量%の粘着付与剤を含有する粘着付与剤原液を調製する。CS28では、溶媒は、溶媒Bである。全ての他の例および比較試料では、溶媒は、溶媒Aである。
PET繊維および綿繊維を含有する生地ロール(「PET−綿生地」)を2つの異なるサイズのストリップ(15.24cm×2.54cmのストリップおよび15.24cm×15.24cmのストリップ(長さ×幅))に切断する。15.24cm×2.54cmのストリップにはブラシを、および15.24cm×15.24cmのストリップにはドローダウンバーを使用して、接着組成物を各ストリップの表面に塗布する。いずれの場合も、ストリップの長さの12.7cmを接着組成物でコーティングする。PET−綿生地の片面のみをコーティングする。コーティングされたPET−綿生地ストリップを80℃のオーブン内で5分間乾燥させて、PET生地上に接着層を形成する(PET−綿生地/接着層構造)。コート重量を測定する。必要に応じて、このプロセスを繰り返して、希望のコート重量を達成する。15.24cm×15.24cm構造を、15.24cm×2.54cm構造に切断する。対照試料(CS18)は、PET−綿生地上に接着組成物なしで調製する。
INFUSE(商標)9007エチレン/1−オクテンマルチブロックコポリマー(「OBC」)(密度=0.866g/cc、メルトインデックス=0.5g/10分(190℃/2.16kg)、融点=119℃、Mw=>10,000g/mol、The Dow Chemical Company製(46.08重量%)、N−330カーボンブラック(32.26重量%)、Hi−Sil(商標)210シリカ(PPG Industries、Inc.製)(9.22重量%)、SR−350助剤(TMPTMA、Sartomer Company製)(1.38重量%)、SUNPAR(商標)2280パラフィン油(HollyFrontier Refining&Marketing LLC製)(6.91重量%)、LUPEROX(商標)DC40P−SP2架橋剤(過酸化ジクミル、Arkema製)(2.30重量%)、AGERITE(商標)RESIN D酸化防止剤(重合1,2−ジヒドロ−2,2,4−トリメチルキノリン、Vanderbilt Chemicals,LLC製)(0.46重量%)、VANOX(商標)ZMTI酸化防止剤(亜鉛2−メルカプトトルミンダゾール、Vanderbilt Chemicals,LLC製)(0.92重量%)、およびVANOX(商標)CDPA酸化防止剤(4,4’−ビス(アルファ,アルファ−ジメチルベンジル)ジフェニルアミン、Vanderbilt Chemicals,LLC製)(0.46重量%)を押出機へと秤量し、押出機内でブレンドして、OBC組成物を形成する。OBC組成物を押し出し、15.24cm×2.54cmのストリップに切断する。
初期圧縮。PET−綿生地/接着層/OBC層の物品を、80℃まで2分間予熱し、2.6kgのローラーを使用して2回圧縮する。実施例1〜27および比較試料2〜28では、初期圧縮プロファイルは以下のとおり(温度=80℃、圧力=0.1〜0.2MPa、時間=2〜4秒間)である。実施例29〜40および比較試料33では、初期圧縮プロファイルは以下のとおり(温度=70℃、圧力=0.1〜0.2MPa、時間=2〜4秒間)である。初期圧縮後、試料を23℃および40%〜50%の相対湿度で、少なくとも5時間エージングする。
最終圧縮。初期圧縮接着試験の後、上記の初期圧縮手順に従って、分離したPET−綿生地/接着層/OBC層の物品を、80℃で再接着する。次いで、実施例1〜17および比較試料2〜18では、1つのPET−綿生地/接着層/OBC層の物品試料を、(圧力なしで)180℃のオーブン内に20分間置く。同様に実施例1〜17および比較試料2〜18では、1つのPET−綿生地/接着層/OBC層の物品試料を、130℃まで2分間予熱し、以下の最終圧縮プロファイル(温度=130℃、圧力=1.5MPa、時間=2分間)を有する圧縮成形機を使用して圧縮する。実施例21〜25および比較試料19〜28では、PET−綿生地/接着層/OBC層の物品試料を、130℃まで2分間予熱し、以下の最終圧縮プロファイル(温度=130℃、圧力=1.5MPa、時間=2分間)を有する圧縮成形機を使用して圧縮する。実施例29〜40および比較試料33では、PET−綿生地/接着層/OBC層の物品試料を、180℃まで2分間予熱し、以下の最終圧縮プロファイル(温度=180℃、圧力=0.689MPa、時間=2分間)を有する圧縮成形機を使用して圧縮する。試料を23℃および40%〜50%の相対湿度で、少なくとも5時間エージングする。
示されるように、(A)0.1〜300g/10分のメルトインデックスを有するMAH−g−エチレン/1−オクテンコポリマーと、0.01〜45重量%のMAH−g−ポリブタジエンと、粘着付与剤と、架橋剤とを含有する接着層、(B)PET−綿生地、および(C)OBC層(実施例1〜40)から形成された物品は、(i)10g/cm超の初期圧縮後の剥離強度、および(ii)450g/cm超の最終圧縮後の剥離強度の両方を有利に示す。結果として、実施例1〜40は、自動車用タイミングベルトとしての使用に好適である。
Claims (15)
- 物品であって、
2つの対向する表面を有する接着層であって、
(i)0.1g/10分〜300g/10分のメルトインデックスを有する官能化エチレン系ポリマーと、
(ii)0.01重量%〜45重量%の官能化炭化水素と、
(iii)粘着付与剤と、
(iv)架橋剤と、を含む、接着層を含む、物品。 - 前記接着層の第1の表面と直接接触している第1の層であって、生地を含む、第1の層をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記接着層が、前記第1の層に架橋されている、請求項2に記載の物品。
- 前記接着層の第2の表面と直接接触している第2の層であって、エチレン/α−オレフィンマルチブロックコポリマー、エチレン/プロピレン/ジエンターポリマー、およびそれらの組み合わせからなる群から選択されるエチレン系ポリマーを含む、第2の層をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の物品。
- 前記接着層が、前記第2の層に架橋されている、請求項4に記載の物品。

- 前記官能化エチレン系ポリマーが、無水マレイン酸グラフト化エチレン系ポリマーである、請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載の物品。
- 前記接着層が、
(i)10重量%〜75重量%の前記官能化エチレン系ポリマーと、
(ii)0.01重量%〜45重量%の前記官能化炭化水素と、
(iii)5重量%〜55重量%の前記粘着付与剤と、
(iv)0.1重量%〜10重量%の前記架橋剤と、を含む、請求項1〜10のいずれかに記載の物品。 - 前記接着層が、
(i)35重量%〜70重量%の無水マレイン酸グラフト化エチレン/1−オクテンコポリマーと、
