Abstract
Description
IR=10×n×log(F/B)
図5のような形態の素子を製作し、その性能をテストした。この過程で光経路制御器としては、反射板(mirror)を使用したのであり、リターダー3021、3022としては、Thorlabs社の製品(WPQ05M−532)を使用したのであり、偏光分割器としては同じくThorlabs社のPBS(polarizing beam splitter)製品(PBS251)を適用した。前記のような素子に対して、Coherent社のGenesis MX SLMレーザーを入射(10mW出力)させて素子をテストした。このような方式で得られた正方向透過率は約76%程度であり、逆方向透過率は約36%程度であり、孤立度(IR)は約3.2dB程度であった。
Claims (16)
- 少なくとも一つの光孤立素子を含む光孤立装置であって、
前記光孤立素子は、順に配置されている偏光変換素子および偏光子を含み、
前記偏光変換素子は、第1方向に入射した非偏光を線偏光に変換させて第2方向に出射できるように構成されており、
前記偏光子は、一方向に形成された透過軸と前記透過軸と垂直な方向に形成された吸収軸を有する吸収型線型偏光子であって、前記透過軸が前記線偏光と平行な方向に形成されている、光孤立装置。 - 第1方向に入射した光の透過率が50%を超過し、下記の数式1で規定される孤立度(IR)が3dB以上である、請求項1に記載の光孤立装置:

数式1において、IRは孤立度であり、nは光孤立装置内に含まれる光孤立素子の個数であり、Fは第1方向に光孤立装置に入射した光の透過率であり、Bは前記第2方向に光孤立装置に入射した光の透過率である。 - 偏光変換素子は、入射光を垂直モードペアの偏光に分割させる偏光分割器およびリターダーを含む、請求項1または2に記載の光孤立装置。
- 偏光分割器は、偏光光線分離器(polarizing beam splitter)、ワイヤーグリッド偏光器、二重輝度上昇フィルムまたはコレステリック液晶フィルムである、請求項3に記載の光孤立装置。
- 偏光変換素子内でリターダーは、偏光分割器によって分割された垂直モードペアの偏光のうちいずれか一つの偏光は前記リターダーを経由し、他の一つの偏光は前記リターダーを経由しない位置に配置されている、請求項3または4に記載の光孤立装置。
- リターダーは、λ/2板である、請求項5に記載の光孤立装置。
- 偏光変換素子内でリターダーは、偏光分割器によって分割された垂直モードペアの偏光のいずれも前記リターダーを経由する位置に配置され、前記垂直モードペアの偏光のうちいずれか一つの偏光が前記リターダーを経由する過程での位相遅延値と他の一つの偏光が前記リターダーを経由する過程での位相遅延値の差の絶対値はλ/2である、請求項3または4に記載の光孤立装置。
- リターダーは、λ/2板およびλ/4板を含む、請求項7に記載の光孤立装置。
- 偏光変換素子内でリターダーは、偏光分割器によって分割された垂直モードペアの偏光のいずれも前記リターダーを経由する位置に配置され、前記垂直モードペアの偏光のうちいずれか一つの偏光が前記リターダーを経由する過程での位相遅延値と他の一つの偏光が前記リターダーを経由する過程での位相遅延値が同じであるである、請求項3または4に記載の光孤立装置。
- リターダーは、λ/4板を含む、請求項9に記載の光孤立装置。
- 偏光変換素子は、光の経路を制御するためのプリズムまたは反射板をさらに含む、請求項3から10のいずれか一項に記載の光孤立装置。
- 第1方向に沿って偏光子を透過した光が入射し得る位置に位相遅延板をさらに含む、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載の光孤立装置。
- 位相遅延板は、その遅相軸が偏光子の透過軸と40度〜50度の範囲内のいずれか一つの角度または130度〜140度の範囲内のいずれか一つの角度をなすように配置されている、請求項12に記載の光孤立装置。
- 位相遅延板は、λ/2板およびλ/4板を含む、請求項12に記載の光孤立装置。
- 第1方向に進行する光が偏光変換素子に入射する前に入射され得る位置に存在するテレスコープをさらに含む、請求項1から14のいずれか一項に記載の光孤立装置。
- 第1方向に沿って偏光子を出射した光の進行方向を制御する光経路制御素子をさらに含む、請求項1から15のいずれか一項に記載の光孤立装置。
