Abstract
Description
さらに、最も外界に近い位置に設けられた第一リップ部には貫通孔が形成されておらず、外界との通気を遮断するように形成されているため、泥水等の異物が他のリップ部にまで浸入することを抑制できる。
そして、リップ部に弁を形成するような構造に比べて、リップ部間における内圧変動を緩和する機能を備えたリップ部を容易に実現することができる。
これによれば、内側部材及び外側部材の相対回転が停止している状態では、グリースが半固体状となるため、貫通孔を塞ぐように機能する。したがって、グリースによって、泥水等が貫通孔を介して浸入することを抑制できる。一方、リップ部間の負圧や、内側部材及び外側部材の相対回転等の影響によってグリースがせん断力を受けると、グリースは液状化して流動し易くなるため、リップ部間の空気は貫通孔を介して円滑に流通する。したがって、リップ部間における内圧変動を緩和する機能を低下させることなく、密封性の向上を図ることができる。因みにグリースのちょう度が350を超える場合、前記のようなグリースによる他のリップ部に設けられた貫通孔を塞ぐ機能が望めなくなる。
グリース等の流体が貫通孔を通過しようとするときの抵抗力は、貫通孔の径に反比例することが知られている。そして、これによれば、グリースが有している降伏応力と相まって、グリースは、貫通孔が小さくなる程、気体と比べると通過に必要な力が大きくなるため、グリースが貫通孔を介して他の空間に移動することを抑制できる。
これによれば、リップ部間の内圧変動が生じた際に、リップ部間に比べて大きい容積が存在する環状空間をバッファとして利用できるため、内圧変動の緩和効果をより向上させることができる。
これによれば、複数のリップ部が他方の部材に弾性変形した状態で相対摺接しても、貫通孔の開口が他方の部材によって塞がれることがないため、貫通孔の機能が損なわれることを未然に防止することができる。因みに、貫通孔の他方の部材からの離間距離が0.1mm未満の場合、前記リップ部の弾性変形によって貫通孔の開口が他方の部材によって塞がれ易くなる。
その他の構成は、図5に示す例と同様であるから、共通部分に同一の符号を付し、その説明を割愛する。
また、貫通孔612a(812a)と貫通孔613a(813a)の開口面積は同じであってもよいが、貫通孔612a(812a)の開口面積の方が貫通孔613a(813a)の開口面積より大きくてもよいし、その逆でもよい。貫通孔612a(812a),613a(813a)の形状は、正面視円形状に限らず、矩形状であってもよいし、多角形状であってもよい。
さらに、各実施形態では、第二リップ部612(812)及び第三リップ部613(813)のそれぞれに貫通孔612a(812a),613a(813a)を設けているが、どちらか一方にだけ設けるようにしてもよい。
さらに、貫通孔612a(812a),613a(813a)の開口部は、必ずしもグリースにより覆われなくてもよい。

Claims (5)
- 相対的に回転する内側部材及び外側部材で構成される環状空間を密封する密封装置であって、
前記内側部材及び前記外側部材のうち一方の部材に嵌合される円筒部を有した芯金と、
前記芯金に固着され、前記内側部材及び前記外側部材のうち他方の部材に接触する複数のリップ部を有したシールリップ部材と、を備え、
前記複数のリップ部は、最も外界に近い位置に設けられ、外界と当該リップ部間に存在する空間との通気を遮断する第一リップ部と、前記第一リップ部より外界から遠い位置に設けられた他のリップ部と、を含み、
前記他のリップ部には、前記他方の部材との接触箇所から離間した箇所に、表裏に開口して通気を許容する貫通孔が設けられていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1に記載の密封装置において、
前記他のリップ部には、ちょう度が350以下のグリースが、前記貫通孔の表側又は裏側の開口の少なくとも一方を覆うように供給されていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項2に記載の密封装置において、
前記貫通孔は、その開口面積が、気体の通過は許容するも前記グリースの通過はし難い大きさに形成されていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の密封装置において、
前記他のリップ部は、前記環状空間に最も近い位置に設けられた第二リップ部と、前記環状空間に2番目に近い位置に設けられた第三リップ部と、を含み、
前記貫通孔は、前記第二リップ部及び前記第三リップ部のそれぞれに設けられていることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1〜請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の密封装置において、
前記貫通孔は、当該貫通孔が設けられるリップ部が前記他方の部材に接触した状態において、前記他方の部材から0.1mm以上離間するように設けられていることを特徴とする密封装置。
