Abstract
Description
用語“蛍光体”は、全てが式:M2−2xEu2xSi5−yAlyOyN8−yに従う複数の異なる蛍光体の組み合わせに関し得る。蛍光体なる用語は、一実施形態において粒子状の蛍光体に関することがあり、他の一実施形態において(単結晶)蛍光体層に関することがある。特定の一実施形態において、蛍光体なる用語は、例えばセラミック多結晶材料などの自己支持形の層を含み得る。同様に、用語“ルミネセント材料”は、一実施形態において粒子状の“ルミネセント材料”に関することがあり、他の一実施形態において(単結晶)“ルミネセント材料”層に関することがある。特定の一実施形態において、用語“ルミネセント材料”は、例えばセラミック材料などの自己支持形の層を含み得る。蛍光体の式:M2−2xEu2xSi5−yAlyOyN8−yはまた、(M1−x)2Eu2xSi5−yAlyOyN8−y又は(M1−xEux)2Si5−yAlyOyN8−yとして示されることもある。
黄色発光Ba2Si5N8:Eu蛍光体が以下の方法によって作製される場合に非常に好ましいことがわかった。57.7721g(414.59mmol)のBaH2と、1.1651g(2.09mmol)のEu2Si5N8(黒鉛、酸化Eu(III)、及び窒化ケイ素の混合物の窒素下1450℃での炭素還元により調製)と、46.9985g(335.03mmol)のSi3N4(アルファ相含量量>90%)とを、ボールミリングによって混合し、窒素雰囲気下で、モリブデンるつぼ内で8時間、1690℃で焼成する。ミリングと、塩酸(5N)、水及びエタノールでの洗浄との後に、Ba1.98Si5N8:Eu0.02蛍光体粉末を得る。XRD分析は、この材料が、格子定数a0=5.7803Å、b0=6.9506Å、c0=9.3855Åを有する斜方晶系M2Si5N8格子型で結晶化することを示している。発光測定は、440nm励起の場合に、575nmでのピーク放射及びFWHM=2050cm−1を示している。
例1の蛍光体粉末をシリコーン(6wt%)と3000rpmで30秒間混合し、3535型ミッドパワーLEDパッケージ内にディスペンスする。以下の表は、室温にて65mAの駆動電流で得られたデータを示している。
複数の蛍光体を、異なるEu濃度で作製した。Ba、Mg、Ca、及びSrの濃度も変化させた。幾つかの異形について、アルカリ土類カチオンの比を一定に保ち、Eu濃度のみを変化させた。以下(表2の値(%単位)を用いる)が見出された:

- 前記ルミネセント材料素子は、前記ルミネセント材料が埋め込まれた透明材料を有する、請求項1乃至8の何れか一項に記載の照明デバイス。
- 前記ルミネセント材料素子は、前記ルミネセント材料が埋め込まれたシリコーンマトリクスを有する、請求項1乃至9の何れか一項に記載の照明デバイス。
- 前記ルミネセント材料は、20wt%未満で、セリウム含有ガーネット材料の群から選択された第2の蛍光体を有する、請求項1乃至10の何れか一項に記載の照明デバイス。
- 前記蛍光体は、中性雰囲気又は還元雰囲気の下での、1550−1800℃の範囲内の温度での、Eu2Si5N8、BaH2、及びSi3N4の混合物の加熱によって得ることができる、請求項1乃至11の何れか一項に記載の照明デバイス。
- 請求項1乃至12の何れか一項に記載の照明デバイスの装飾照明用途又は信号照明用途での使用。
